Picker Upper I will do my school project on my own. Project “Picker Upper” will be held at Yucca Valley High School during lunch. Picker Upper is a cleaning project created to help the ecosystem. Picker Upper will done on September Twenty-fifth through the Thirtieth. During this project, I will be attempting to collect all the garbage found outside of trash bins, and disposing of said trash properly throughout that week. This project will be done by my hands, alone. This project helps with the environment by disposing of garbage properly. I will take time during my lunch to do a good deed to the planet for a week. I will also be expected to learn more how trash affects the ecosystem. It just so happens, without each of us doing our part damages to the …show more content…
I believe this, since I chose a cleaning project and named it “Picker Uppers”. I will finally see the campus clean. This is the closest planet we know that can sustain life, and we go and trash the planet up. That is why I decided to do a cleaning project. This project may improve my health by exposing me to all sorts of bacteria. When I am exposed it will help to strengthen my immune system. Plus, I won’t be as disgusted by messy trash after I have completed my project. Generally, when I become sick I get really sick, so this project should help with the severity of possible future illnesses. I believe this project could strengthen my immune system, since trash has lots of bacteria on the object. Some problems I might face are forgetting and becoming sick in the process. I might forget, since I will have school on my mind and friends near me at all times. I may become sick because I am exposed to different types of bacteria during the week. To prevent these problems I must remember to stay sanitized. To remember, I will make notes wherever I hang out. I will wash my hands and use hand sanitizer before classes, so I won’t become
Take a moment to imagine the realization that a young boy came to when two of his favorite movies had a large plotline that was somewhat based on the problems of trash. Wall-E, the famous Pixar movie, was based on a small robot that was left behind on Earth’s surface alone. His job was to clean the garbage that the human population left behind when they went into space to escape their problems. Toy Story 3, another Pixar movie, contained a scene with garbage that was vital to the plot, in which the characters are rescued from a trash furnace that was consuming literally tons of trash a minute. These two movies tried to make the American population aware of the ever growing trash situation, however, Americans quickly forgot about the Earth shattering situation that they are causing. The solution to the world’s trash problem is easy; people need to be educated on the problems of trash and given an easy way to fix it. People should be required to visit a landfill, educated on the severity of the trash problem, and should be rewarded for changing their habits to improve the problem.
There are so many different ways our world can recycle ,The goal is to reduce the amount of waste ,
My project was to help the community through a hospital by supplying them with raised garden beds
The goal of the project is well hearted, and has benifits for the environment, by encouraging recycling and lessening the amount of energy used by making new materials, the tax payers, by eliminating the cost it would take for the county to open a new landfill (which would be very costly), and citizens, by providing compost to use in their gardens.
Keeping a good standard of hygiene helps to prevent the development and spread of infections, illnesses and bad odours. There are many contributory factors that make up personal hygiene with the main ones being washing, oral care, hair care, nail care, wound care, cleansing of personal utensils. Personal hygiene is essentially the promotion and continuance of good health. Probably the most important aspect of all, food hygiene is very closely associated with personal hygiene. Poor personal cleansing can have a very significant effect on the start and spread of many illnesses through contact with foods, some that could be potentially life-threatening.
I have realized that even though I am only one person, I have a huge and often times detrimental impact on the environment. Although, I occasionally recycle bottles and cans at my home, the HHW project gives me an opportunity to turn a simple and seemingly insignificant effort, into a large scale community project. I specifically chose this project because I wanted to take part in the effort to decrease our need for landfills and other methods of mass trash disposal.
From that “. . . cheese with a spot of mold” to that “. . . half jar of peanut butter” (64). Furthermore, I think that if people read this essay they may realize that some of the stuff they call trash is actually not trash at all. This essay personally made me become more thankful that I don’t have to dumpster dive just to be able to eat. Likewise, I began to understand that I and others “throw away perfectly good stuff” that really shouldn’t be in the trash (64). By making an effort to reduce my waste, I will reduce my ecological footprint on the earth and ultimately leave more resources for further
Cleanliness is something that can often be taken for granted and given the abundance of trash that the population produces on any day there must be a more cautious effort in disposal. While a majority of people know the impact, dangers, and disgustingness of not disposing of waste properly, there are still a number of people who are not diligent about waste discarding; hence the need for a park clean up. We understood that the entire population would not be drastically changed because of these little park clean-ups but we are adamant that it will have a local effect which has the ability to spread further and further. In this report I will discuss our process from idea initiation to the completion of the project covering the planning, organizing, leading, and controlling aspects of the project. Then give an assessment of the entire project and action detailing if we believed that we were
Pollution is an issue that could potentially cause damage and recycling conveys an important role. An issue we currently phase is trash segregation, students aren’t recycling or separating trash as they should. As mentioned earlier, mindset is just as important as action - they have careless, ignorant mentalities. What my project proposes, are two main part the action and the mentality transformation. The action idea is to develop as community service recicle trashcans with that from the outside look the same as what its entering in them, an example could be a trash can full that physically look like a plastic bottle, so students only troth there there plastic
Being that I was on the board of Key Club at our school, an international service organization dedicated to serving and helping the surrounding community and the world, I established a meeting with the rest of the board of the club to collaborate a plan on what we could do to help. We decided to talk to administration at Boylan in order to get approval so that we could go along with our plan to get recycle bins throughout the school. Key Club held bake sales and other fundraisers to raise money in order to purchase the recycle bins. After we raised enough money, we were able to get recycle bins in every classroom in our school. It was a success! Now students actively recycle there used, recyclable items everyday. Other Key Club members, board officers, and I empty the recycle bins from each classroom every Friday after school ends for approximately an hour. Even though we do not get to join the rest of the students who are free to get out of school right away at 3:05 p.m. every Friday afternoon, we are making a difference in the school, community, and world with all of our hard work. Our next step within this upcoming school year is to raise enough money to purchase recycle bins for the cafeteria also! I cannot believe how much we have achieved through such a small idea, but I also cannot wait to see how we can change our school to be more
The applied ethical project I worked on was, should I speak up and encourage the other units in my housing complex that do not recycle to start recycling, or is it not my place to tell them what they should or should not do? I chose this project, because I currently live in a house that is split up in to five different units and I encountered this ethical issue on a daily basis, as I continued to see the other people from the other units throwing away items that were clearly recyclable. The common area has two large recycling cans outside, right beside the regular waste trash cans, so they have the means to recycle easily, yet the waste trash cans are overflowing and the recycling cans are nearly empty, other than what my husband and I recycle.
Tons of waste is put in our environment every year harming our planet. In florida alone 32,589,513 tons of waste is dumped only 13,809,704 of that was recycled in 2015.(FDEP) Many schools don't teach about the harm this does on the environment and as we continue to increase waste we need to drastically increase the amount recycled. To achieve this goal a program should be set up to Teach about reuse, reduce, and recycle. Have kids plant trees in your community or coordinate a paper drive. This program would be called Ecology day.
It has come to my attention that our nation is in the middle of earthweek. At a time when we all stop, as Americans, and take a look at all of the great accomplishments we have made that we could have possibly overlooked while running around with our busy schedules. We recognize our efforts to create powerful industries and production plants that produce endless chemical compounds and new materials. The discovery and use of fossil fuels, of which has fed our automobiles and at times added a protective coating to our shores and beaches. The men and women who clear the land and provide the materials for our homes. And what about electricity? The greatest discovery of all time. We must not forget about the men
One of the most prominent issues in the American society is not an economic or social problem, but the lack of recycling in America and the effect it is having on the environment and the people. This lack of recycling can be found in businesses and schools across America who could benefit from some sort of recycling program installed. The benefits of a well placed and organized recycling program can be endless from scholarships to the benefits it can have on the environment by saving trees and reducing the space need to dispose all the trash. South Caldwell High School is one of these schools across the country that is at a loss because of its lack of a recycling program and many other schools and businesses in Caldwell county are not reaping
My project helped our environment, maybe not on a global scale but small victories such as this one matter. “Plants…not only feed themselves but they also are the ultimate source of food for virtually all other organisms,” (Reece et al. 118). We humans depend on plants and other autotrophic organism for nutrients, because we ourselves cannot produce our own food. Plants and humans are also interdependent, “Plants…convert CO2 and H2O to sugars and other organic materials, and release O2 as a
