One pro of homework is that it make up for the not enough time students go to school and learn. Even though teachers give students activities to do in class, giving them assignments to do at home can give them a better understanding on the subject. The first reason that homework is not helpful is that it limits students’ free time. Students look forward to school ending and being able to relax and enjoy themselves. As the seven hours counts down, they have the afternoon and evening to wait for. However, if they have homework that night, all of their plans are ruined. For all of the work that students do each day, they deserve time to relax. No matter what work students get, it’s really bad. It forces them to work longer, and possibly through the night, which leads me to my next point.

In summation, homework provides students with the capacity to allow them to succeed on their day to day lives when it is not on excess. There is, of course, some questioning on whether homework directly helps student have a better academic performance. However, it is clear that homework guides children to the necessary developmental growth needed to succeed. When I get home, I would rather do a little homework, relax, and spend time with my family. Not spend the rest of the day doing homework, when you already have 7 hours of school. What the public is concerned about is if homework should even be assigned? Homework was contrived to prepare students and help them engage them in the content being taught. Homework also enacts time management skills and responsibility of growing young adults. Although the debate about if homework should be given minimally or in discretion and that homework has no verified benefits still stands. Homework is necessary for causing students to be engaged in the content taught and delivers time management skills for the future.

What is the purpose of homework? Is it to enhance one’s learning and education, or is it an unnecessary evil? Students shouldn’t have homework. Without homework a student’s grade increase. Secondly, homework is the trigger of stressful situations in a student’s academic life. Thirdly, homework causes a student to be more pessimistic about school and grades. Students shouldn’t have homework because their grades drop, it causes stress, and their attitude to school becomes negative.

In many American households, homework is the main cause of stress. Some people think that America is not so well and adding more homework will fix that problem. The purpose for assigning homework in my classroom is to reinforce material learned in class, for further practice, and to develop self-management skills. Homework also serves a purpose in connecting the classroom to the student’s parents. Homework will allow students to share with their parents what they are learning in class and allow the parents to be involved.

Many people believe that homework is beneficial. They believe that it teaches responsibility and helps with the over all education of students. However, the negative effects of homework are so large in number that the benefits become negligible.

The general arguments given by teachers and some parents are that homework increases the overall grade averages, sharpens study habits, and helps students become more prepared for college work. Along with that, it helps students learn responsibility for life in the work field of the real work. Although these arguments are valid, there are arguments against homework as well. Homework causes students to be stressed out when there is too much to be done by a certain deadline and takes away the free time of students. Some of the work that students are assigned isn't relevant to what they are studying. Worst of all, it causes that struggling student to lose interest in the study of that subject ("Students and Homework"). While it does have negative outcomes, homework also has it's perks.

My fourth reason is that they'll learn discipline. Meaning the more they do their homework they get so used to it they won't do unimportant things like playing video, texting, doing dangerous and redundant things. They'll focus more on their education than playing video games or things that can waste time on things they can do instead of homework.

Many students in school struggle to complete piles of homework assigned to them each night. Some wonder if homework is really critical to learning, and many wish homework wouldn’t exist at all. These people argue that homework is overwhelming and it takes away most of their free time at home and is just “busy work”. While some people may feel this way, I personally believe that homework is a key point of learning because it teaches time management and helps solidify what was learned during the day.

First of all, homework causes material being taught in class the next day to have greater relevance and is easier to understand. Students who don’t do their homework tend to not understand the material being taught the next day as described in the article, “Why Homework Matters: Top Five (5) Reasons You Probably Should Do Your Homework” by Michael Bromley. According to the article, “If you don’t do your homework, you will most often not know what the teacher is doing in class the next day. (Bromley 2)” If you did do your homework, you would better understand the material being taught the next day. If you don’t do your homework, would fall behind the students who did do their homework. Also, you would have an extremely difficult time catching
