What does it mean to be human? Firstly, I am quite sure this answer is a personal one and individuals may answer in various unique ways. We all have our personal set of values, ethics and belief. Given that I am quite spiritual, I strongly believe that God gave us unique gifts and talents to be of service and value to this earth. Furthermore, Bob Marley was spiritual as well. Through the story of his life, I realized some of my gifts and was reminded of some of the purposes I was already aware. Moreover, to be human-in the simple terms- can be broken it a few tenants, which include: the progressive and continual process of learning, the need to seek beauty and belonging to a culture. The aforementioned tenants are not listed in order of value …show more content…
Cedella Marley’s experiences impacted Bob long before he was born. Furthermore, her experiences and choices impacted him throughout his entire life. Overall, both of them learned from choices made, whether right or wrong. Consequently, mistakes are an integral part of human learning. Adversely, we would all like to elude them at times (some more than others). Would Bob Marley be with us today if he had elected surgery for his cancerous toe? Only God knows! His mortal choices made him human and many have and will continue to learn from them. Learning is a culmination of behaviors and experiences; either made by self or others. Additionally, humans seek beauty for arousal and experiences; all of which are essential during the quest for happiness. Furthermore, nature is extremely beautiful in all its glory. By God’s design, nature provides us many necessary elements that sustain life; from oxygen to breath, to the rays of the sun that grow food. Moreover, a photograph of a ferocious tornado is equally as beautiful as a still river. Evidently, Bob Marley’s message was aggressive like a tornado and his spirit was as still as a river. Beauty invokes feelings. Feelings are a vital component of
It was the day the junior high volleyball girls played Madison Grant! They were the only team that we lose to last year.We were going back and forth and back. It was a really good game. Who won the biggest rivalry in Frankton JH?

Starting high school can be a little scary, especially when you have no guidance from siblings, like me, being the first one from my family to have an education. But that did not stop me from succeeding, I?ve always been confident and determined. I?m an enthusiastic when it comes to trying new things. Who would have thought I was going to be a good athlete plus a book geek, when in my past years I was just a regular kid. I was pretty excited about joining a club that had a connection with high school, that way I didn?t have to start from zero, I always want to be a step ahead. Fortunately, in summer, a high school coach was recruiting freshmen for running either cross country or track, they both involve running, so I considered it like the same sport with different timing. And this is when it all started. Running
Throughout the conversation, Susan did not inform me that the home was still in First Look and not open to investors at this time. Susan did not highlight any features of the home, nor did she talk about the neighborhood or the surrounding area. When asked, Susan paused to reference the property file and stated, "In looking at the pictures it appears that it needs interior paint, carpet, appliances, and a few windows, which the previous seller must have taken." She stated, "I don't know why they have to remove things from the homes." I asked, "Do you have offers?" She paused to check the property file and answered, "No offers." I asked, "Is the property behind the home farmland?" She paused to reference the property file and replied, "It appears
Over my years of school, one big influence on me has always been sports. Ever since a young age, I have always enjoyed playing and watching sports. In my four years in high school, I have fell in love with the sport of lacrosse.
I woke up and took one bite out of my pop tart but that one bite was all I could eat. My legs were shaking, and my heart was pounding. My dad told me, “It is a true honor to even make it this far so go out there and have some fun.” Once I heard this statement, I knew I was ready to go. I arrived at school and boarded the bus. The car ride was an hour and fifteen minutes of hearing the squeaking of the wheel on the bus. My teammates were getting their heads ready for the big game.

What does it mean to be human? In the society that we live in today there is a wide variety of definitions that sometimes the truth becomes blurry and it takes an epiphany to change our perceptions. Being able to feel pain, sorrow, happiness, joy, sympathy, and love. These are the traits that we should all be striving for. As humans, we should all be striving to become better people. We as humans want to grow as individuals. We focus a large amount on ourselves to become better people. We enjoy seeing ourselves succeed in life. It is a great accomplishment when you have witnessed yourself accomplish something. When goals are reached, we praise ourselves. Humans enjoy feeling good about themselves, and growing as humans helps us with this great feeling because we have reached our goal. Just being alive doesn’t mean we are truly living. This is what separates the humans from creatures. This is the case in
Just so you know, this is the Big Apple and I rule this town. New York City is filled with tall buildings, great culture, and historical sites. No other city has so much beauty that it takes your breath away; yet, there is a real danger that lurks on the streets. I should know because I am Detective Michael Morgan a United States Super Spy in charge of capturing dastardly villains who are set on destroying our world. Armed with mind-altering powers, Alex Higgins is on the top of the FBI’s list of the ten most wanted men in America. This thug is one of the greatest danger to our world and must be captured and jailed in the vault of death. There is no place safe for him to hide from the law and rumor has it, he is in my town. You break the law here in New York City, you pay the ultimate price: freedom.
I quickly swallowed my homemade authentic Indian food leftovers and gulped down my chocolate milk. Looking down at my watch that read 11:28am, I knew that I only had two minutes until my most favorite part of the day: recess. This particular day in 5th grade, I had run a lap around the playground before getting the rest of recess to myself. As I started walking for my warmup, another student ran up and said, “My parents said that your people caused 9/11.” Completely caught off guard, I held back the tears in my eyes and tried to shake off his comment. I had never encountered something like this.
Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?
Some people are born with talents, others with brains, and some with beauty. However, I would like to think I was born with all the above, but most of all I was born with the innate gift of serving others. While growing up as a preacher’s kid, I witnessed my father help others by empowering them, motivating them, and praying for them. Observing how supportive my dad was of others I thought I want to do the same thing, but I knew I did not want to be a preacher. Growing up as a beautician’s daughter, I watched my mother improve others by building their self-esteem, being a listening ear, and sharing knowledge when necessary. I recall looking at my mother thinking I want to be that type of person when I grow up. I lacked the talents and creativity
An important part of every humans life is having something they believe in. Having something to care about is essential for people to reach their full potential in life. People need a special person in their life, or a great job that sparks passion in them to bring them happiness. There are many of these types of passions in my life but to better understand who I am, there isn't just one, there are three people who have shaped the young adult I am today. My two little sisters and my little brother. However they aren't exactly normal siblings, they were given to us by the City of Cincinnati for temporary care, while their mothers tried to recover from heroin addiction and battled in court to explain why their child was hospitalized because of a lack of food.
Being human is something people wonder about all the time. It’s quite a philosophical question, if you think about it. When we refer to different points in history, we think of John Locke, Malcolm X, and how humans can create something advanced. These are just some of the things that make humans human. But the meaning of being human goes even deeper than that.
Without sufficient reason, my eyes pop open in the dead of night, my body unbearably filled with lust. As my eyes adjust to the darkness, I try to focus my thoughts on nonsexual things like puppies and chocolate. Instead, my efforts result in thoughts about Liam smearing me with melted chocolate and then slowly licking it off. A quiet moan escapes me at the thought and I lick my lips, my hand creeping down between my thighs. After a moment of hesitation, I pull it back and shift to a more comfortable position; I just can’t touch myself, never have, never will. All attempts to drift back to sleep end in vain: counting sheep, humming softly, sheer willpower, everything. Turning on the lamp, I look over and see Liam laying on his back, mouth slightly
