Personal Narrative: What Does It Means To Be Human

What does it mean to be human? Firstly, I am quite sure this answer is a personal one and individuals may answer in various unique ways. We all have our personal set of values, ethics and belief. Given that I am quite spiritual, I strongly believe that God gave us unique gifts and talents to be of service and value to this earth. Furthermore, Bob Marley was spiritual as well. Through the story of his life, I realized some of my gifts and was reminded of some of the purposes I was already aware. Moreover, to be human-in the simple terms- can be broken it a few tenants, which include: the progressive and continual process of learning, the need to seek beauty and belonging to a culture. Cedella Marley’s experiences impacted Bob long before he was born. Furthermore, her experiences and choices impacted him throughout his entire life. Overall, both of them learned from choices made, whether right or wrong. Consequently, mistakes are an integral part of human learning. Adversely, we would all like to elude them at times (some more than others). Would Bob Marley be with us today if he had elected surgery for his cancerous toe? Only God knows! His mortal choices made him human and many have and will continue to learn from them. Learning is a culmination of behaviors and experiences; either made by self or others. Additionally, humans seek beauty for arousal and experiences; all of which are essential during the quest for happiness. Furthermore, nature is extremely beautiful in all its glory. By God’s design, nature provides us many necessary elements that sustain life; from oxygen to breath, to the rays of the sun that grow food. Moreover, a photograph of a ferocious tornado is equally as beautiful as a still river. Evidently, Bob Marley’s message was aggressive like a tornado and his spirit was as still as a river.
