Week one has passed by quickly! I think this week was very successful and I can say that I have learned many new things. This week has been an experience for me learning things about the business world. I am not a business major so I was not expecting to take these classes. I was assigned them, but have found them very beneficial. As I read through the first couple of chapters I read things I had heard before. This was a good thing that I could put the information with the terms I had heard previously. As far as my emotions on the work I would have to say it was a lot. I did not expect this much work in this class. However, I stayed busy and worked through the weekend and got all my work completed. I think the work was fitting for the class.
This week was not too bad in regards to any of the work I actually needed to do. There are definitely some concepts that I think I need to improve my understanding but I think that I did take away what was available from the texts we were provided.
Walking away from everything you once knew and starting over is never a picnic. Leaving Iraq, and moving to America has impacted my life more than anything. I was only 4 years old at that time, and the only English I spoke was “excuse me, water please.” My family and I did not know it then, but our lives were going to change; we would become “Americanized”. Learning English was one of the massive changes that occurred, the way I dressed (culture), and even the way I had power to go to school and educate myself.
It started as typical Tuesday with a couple of court hearings, maybe an arrest, but nothing to exciting. That all changed at dawn.
I feel this week was very beneficial to me as well as to my business career. I think the information was helpful and made me understand things better. I was unaware of some of the terms in the book, but learned them. This week was smoother than the first week. I thought the first week has been the toughest so far. I feel I am doing well in the course, but I will continue to do better on my assignments.
Monday- For my workout I did back and biceps. I started warming up by down 4 sets of pull ups ranging from 10 to 15 reps. Next, I did 4 sets of dumbbell rows followed by 5 sets of lat pull downs. I then did 4 different exercises for biceps which were dumbbell curls, barbell curls, and preacher curl and then finished with the curl machine. I did 4 sets of each exercise. For my breakfast I ate a croissant egg and ham sandwich. For lunch I had my protein shake with a banana and peanuts. For my dinner I had rice, cottage cheese and a chicken quesadilla.
Today at work was extraordinary. As usual, I walked into the 8am pitch meeting, but half the staff is broadcasting from Orlando. We sat around and discussed what news stories will make our “Friday News Roundup.” After the meeting ended, I was assigned to pull clips and edit them to be used in Friday’s show. At lunch time, all the WAMU interns were scheduled to meet with the director of content at WAMU, Andi McDaniel. We discussed a lot about ourselves and what we look forward to getting out of the internship. She then talked about her role and how she got to her position of managing a 50+ staff and shaping the identity of the radio station. This was a very productive lunch meeting. After getting back to work and helping one of the producers for a show next month, I chose to take the initiative of talking to one of the former interns. Not only was he a former intern from last fall, but he’s also black. We went to Starbucks and discussed being black in professional environments, working on 1A, standing out as an intern, pitching great ideas, and developing as a person and professional. I really loved learning from everyone I talked to today.
At the end of the week I was more than pleased, I was ecstatic at what a great opportunity this class is and how much fun it is! I look forward to the opportunities to come and the connections to be
In agreement with finding the class awesome, with a great peer to review my drafts. Many thanks for the positive feedback. It was necessary to read when you stay up to midnight, made it feel worthwhile.
Growing up with a father in the military, you move around a lot more than you would like to. I was born just east of St. Louis in a city called Shiloh in Illinois. When I was two years old my dad got the assignment to move to Hawaii. We spent seven great years in Hawaii, we had one of the greatest churches I have ever been to name New Hope. New Hope was a lot like Olivet's atmosphere, the people were always friendly and there always something to keep someone busy. I used to dance at church, I did hip-hop and interpretive dance, but you could never tell that from the way I look now.
I can say I got a lot out of this class. So even though this class was more difficult than I anticipated I learned so many things that I did not know before about writing. I feel much more comfortable continuing forth with writing essays in my future writing assignments and
Most people are all grown up when they finally figure out what they want to do with their life. I was 4. I realized what I wanted to be when I attended my very first Rodeo. Even though it was so long ago I can remember that day like it was yesturday. That day got me on the path to my future.
This was my second semester towards pursuing my Ed. S. in Instructional Technology. I was anxious about the course due to it being a shortened semester and it being in the summer with my small kids at home. While the course did move a little faster pace, I felt the course load was reasonable and I
Awakened when AV said “Everybody ready?” to the jv group chat, I knew that I wasn’t prepared for what the day had in store me. As we walked into the jv locker room after what was a short drive in Stratford, Texas, we knew that coach had high expectations. After getting all geared up we heard the words that I dreaded “Alright let’s head that way!”, said coach Lovorn. During warm ups the thought of getting hit by upperclassmen was the only thing that crossed my mind. They had once been in my place and taken big hits from upperclassmen before. It was certain that they were looking to do the same thing to us freshmen. After warm ups concluded, it was time for individual offense. The linemen went to the chutes to work on our footwork. Following
Somehow, I’ve carved out a pretty nice life for myself. Like my wife Maria, she has never needed to work a day in her life, but she still manages to be the superhero that makes all the other soccer moms weep in envy. And our princess, Bella, did I tell you she is only a few days away from earning her master’s? She has grown into quite the young woman. On the other hand, Jack Junior seems to struggling in his math class. He’s only seven, so I think his teachers are overreacting. And besides, I was the same way and I managed to land a family of four with two cars in the garage of our two story townhouse (all ours, by the way). And as for me, I pride myself on being a man of routine. On Thursdays, I bowl for a charity bowling league. Fridays,
The content of the class for me was probably one of the most comprehensive and involved of any class I have taken in my almost four years at Kennesaw. One of the rarest things occurred this semester in the fact that I feel I got my monies worth out of the course textbook. It has been one of the few textbooks I have could follow along with alongside the class discussions. The book isn’t overly saturated in scholarly text that use words that most likely a doctorate student would use in their dissertation, but instead I felt like the book utilized text and examples that weren’t simplistic, but instead were at a level that helped as an aide to understand our class discussions. I think the book was great on providing supplemental examples to go along with the other class
