My entire family is an athletic family, everyone did or does sports. However, I never really enjoyed sports to the extent that my family did. I tried to find something I had a passion for, but didn't really find anything until I was in 5th grade. A time that I was open to growth was my entire time in Phoenix Boys Choir.
I was in music class when my teacher, Mrs. Umberson, had kept on telling me to join the Phoenix boys choir. I'd always come home with packets about how to join and audition packets, however my parents didn't really know what to say. I listened to music but didn't really care about it, never really shown interest in music, and I didn't have a very good voice. So when I was coming home with Phoenix Boys Choir flyers my parents didn't know why I wanted to do this… But they said sure.
So I went and auditioned for the choir and got put into their 2nd level. Then in August choir started and I was an alto. That year I met a few kids in choir that were my

This year might of been my hardest year in the choir because I had to be a leader, before I had always sat in the back and made jokes. This year however my director made me sit in the center of the sopranos so everyone could follow my voice. I also got to perform all around Spain and Portugal as a soloist. This was a huge confidence booster because I got a standing ovation every night.
So my entire time with the choir was a huge challenge because it was a new and more challenging every year. This is why it made me open to growth was because I had so many challenges and had to be open to a lot of criticism. While looking back it was very rewarding experience because I came in someone with no friends, no confidence, and no musical talent and left with a lot of friends, more confidence, and a lot of talent with music, so this was the biggest growth exspirence I
“Why would someone join chorus? Only nerds and weird people are in choir.” Hearing comments like these when I was in middle school almost discouraged me from participating in the arts. I did not want to do anything that would make it more difficult to achieve popularity, for I was obsessed with trying to fit in with my peers. My chorus teacher knew how irrational it was for me to think that and convinced me to try out for chorus. I am forever grateful that she did, for joining chorus allowed me to express myself, connect with others, and create memorable experiences.
My sister was a singer. When my sister was around twelve, she wanted to get an agent. So I went to Toronto with my sister and my mom to find her an agent. She's six years older than me. She went in to go get the agent, and my mom and I came in with her. The agent looked at me and asked me if I wanted to join. I was just five, and my mom was just like, "He's too young. I'm not sure if he wants to do that." But I was like, "I'll do it." And they were like, "So what do you want to do?" And I was like, "I wanna act." And they just let me into their agency. I tried it out, and I've been acting ever since.
Sports have been a huge part of my life ever since I was about five years old. It has impacted my life so much. The biggest challenge that I faced was with my injuries during basketball and soccer season. I recently had to quit soccer and basketball, which was difficult for me.
I seemed to find my voice, and my teacher proposed the idea of me joining Circle of the State with Song. I gladly accepted the offer. It was considered the next level of proficiency in music at that age. Preparing for the exchange with other schools in a few months, one day there was auditions for the best of best to be in the Indiana All State Honor Choir. There were about twenty of us in Circle of the State with Song from Winamac. I thought I should audition for a spot because the worst they could tell me is that I did not make the cut. In the past, there have been little to nobody that had made all state, so it is quite an honor to be part of
Currently I am in cross country, basketball, and track, but I have done many other sports in the past. I joined the cross country team in 8th grade in hopes of finding a new passion. I fell in love with running and decided to join the track team that same year. Basketball is a different story; I joined in 3rd grade just because my parents signed me up as most sports go when you're younger, and I struggled greatly with learning and understanding the game. I spent long summers training in my yard trying to get better. This determination helped me significantly when it became time for tryouts, as I ended up making the higher team. To this day I still have a lot of determination when it comes to sports and most things in
When I was an eighth grader in middle school, I joined IUSD Middle School Honor Orchestra. I played the viola in this orchestra and I was eighth chair violist out of sixteen violists. Many of my friends joined this orchestra and we had a lot of fun. I played different pieces of music with everyone in the orchestra and I learned many new things. Playing music pieces with different people that play different instruments have taught me a lot, and I learned that it is always important to work as a team. Joining this orchestra has given me the better understanding of music and teamwork. After the concert of this orchestra, we had a field trip to California Adventure and I performed there with the group of the first time. This is one of the best experience
Nearly every year since 6th grade ive gone to a retiement home and either sang or dance for the people there. 6th ,7th and 8th grade ive gone with my choir. My freshman year i went with a small group i put together to entertain them, and teach them some music. Later on freshman year i perfromed my competiton dances for the people there. my biggest regret was able to visit this year due to a prior commitment with Chamber choir.
Throughout my youth, I have had experiences which have been very meaningful to me, however, there is one that stands out from the rest. I have been part of the Madison Youth Choirs (MYC) for seven years now. The choir is an auditioned choir for people ages seven to eighteen. I am in the highest choir, Cantabile, with conductor Mike Ross.
At first I could barely project my voice for the entire hornline to hear, I was always self conscious and afraid of messing up. My public speaking skills were questionable at best and my fear of messing up in front of everyone made them even worse. Dealing with my eight person section(including myself) wasn’t as taxing but relaying instructions effectively was my biggest problem. Teaching new material as well as
1. Thirty pounds of metal resting on my left shoulder, I marched for hours in the blistering hot sun. The sousaphone was my greatest enemy. In 6th grade I was chosen to play tuba for our middle school band, I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me. Two years later, I had gotten pretty good. I made all state band, won some awards, and was 1st chair. I had no intention in joining the marching band my freshman year.
Ever since I was little I p;ayed sports. People always told me I was goung to make it big. I was good at everysport lole ait was in my blood. My body is built to play sports. A lot of people say im athletic and I agree.
For many years of my life I had struggled fitting in, weather it be in sports or core classes, it was difficult for me. I had very few friends and never academically exelled. Its hard to explain the reasons why school was such a struggle for me, but I guess that at some point I felt wasen’t worth it. That day I had decided to go to the couselor, I had gone becuase I felt like if it was even possible, she would be able to guide me to find that one thing that I would love and exell at, to finally be appreciated. That decision was and always will be a blessing to me. Choir has given me
Watching these performers may have giving me the influence that made me want to sing in the first place, but it wasn’t until I was eight years old when I realized that performing was in my blood and was what I wanted and to do for the rest of my life.
This year I decided to join the musical. I was going to join last year, however I wanted the experience of playing in the pit orchestra first. Another reason that I didn’t join the musical last year is because I had no idea how to act and I didn’t think I could really sing at all. As the year went on, I realized that I had missed out. My friends who joined had found this amazing family of people in the musical and were having so much fun.
I’m not always participating in just individual sports. I play on my high school’s soccer and baseball team. I appreciate team sports as they have helped a ton to make friends when I transitioned to high school, but my true love is individual sport. I have grown accustom to loads of different sport as my parents dragging me on trips around Maine. I have been hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, road biking, mountain biking,
