Like I mentioned earlier, I go to Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and the very first thing that I noticed when I got to this school is just how liberal it really is. My favorite example is that the head of our political science department, and the professor that teaches all of my political philosophy classes, is not only the advisor for the Student Socialist Union, but also an active participant. I have yet to find a truly conservative professor on this entire campus. I’ve heard over and over again that capitalism is destroying this country, or that conservatives are out of touch and don’t know what’s going on. Through Turning Point and the short time that I’ve known some of you staff, I have already felt like I have a group of people
“Mohawk Interruptus: Political Life across the Borders of Settler States” recounts the situation of indigenous peoples living in their original lands, but refusing to accept “gifts” of state citizen and cultural recognition, as it’s not good for them. The author specifically addresses the situation of the Mohawk peoples who require self-autonomy and their own government as oppose to belonging to a sovereign state such as the United States or Canada.
On June 28th 1914, the assassination of Archduke Franz Fernidad, the heir of the Austro-Hungarian throne, ignited the “July Crisis” in Europe. Industrialized nations were competing to occupy colonies for resources in order to grow their economies. Hence, creating alliances was essential for these imperialist governments to assure military and economic support. There were two rival blocs of alliances in Europe: The Triple Entente, which consisted of Britain, France, and Russia; and the Triple Alliance, which consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. In the beginning of these hostilities, U.S. played a neutral role trying to keep stability, solve these problems peacefully, and to trade with all the warring nations. However, this did
On Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 4:00 pm, at the Carpenter Theatre Dominion Arts Center, the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra played side by side with the Richmond Symphony. The instrumentation of the youth orchestra consisted of ten first violins, ten second violins, four violas, nine cellos, five basses, three flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns, three trumpets, three trombones, a tuba, and two harps. The Richmond Symphony has twenty-one violins, seven violas, ten cellos, five double basses, three flutes, one piccolo, two oboes, one English horn, two clarinets, two E-flat clarinets, one bass clarinet, two bassoons, a contrabassoon, four horns, three trumpets, two trombones, one bass trombone, a tuba, a timpani, three
If I could go back in time and relive a particularly difficult moment in my life, I will work part-time in the weekend in high school. I want to save my money. I want to travel other state. I also want to see my childhood friends. I wish I spend more time to have fun with my friends when I was young. When I first came here I went to school and I didn't how many class I have to take the class and to pass the MACS. I spent one more year to get my diploma. I wish if I know all this I will take class that require. I will go to Middlesex Community College early to practice the MACS because they have MACS class. After I going Middlesex Community College I pass the MACS. It is very helpful to go there. I learned a lot of MACS how to answer the open
Last week at East, we had students going to the community college two days in a row and a school sponsored blood drive. The county office and community college scheduled the college days for our CTE students and seniors. It was hectic to say the least and the teachers had to be flexible. Some of the drove buses, others covered classes to give our students the opportunity to visit with college representatives and local business owners. By the end of the week, I could sense there was an undercurrent of stress. The feel or pulse of the school was off and by Friday, we had several teachers absent. To show appreciation, and to help combat high staff absents on Fridays I asked for money to buy the staff ice cream and to begin Fun Friday.
Although many schools claim to be the best, the University of Michigan truly holds this spot in my eyes. When talking to people about it, they always comment on how cold it is, and they wonder why people would ever want to live there. My answer is simple; I was born in Michigan and love everything about it. From the bitter cold, to the prestigious colleges, I take pride in being born here. When I researched great law schools and found one located in Michigan, my attention was immediately
Hello I know it is early but I was just wondering about how to go about becoming a student here next september. I am going to into my second year of Westchester Community College in Westchester. After my two years I would like to attend John Jay, what would be the steps in attending? Is their a certain grade I need to get in order to get in. Also while I was in high school I never took the SAT/ACT would that be a problem ?
Interesting that you ask this of the northern states vineyards success. I actually travel to Chautauqua Institute a couple times a year and while you fly into Buffalo, New York, the drive to Chautauqua is lined with miles and miles of vineyards. This is a trip I love to make every chance I get, to see the beauty of this countryside as well as these vineyards, as far as the eye can see. It is wine country with over 50 miles straight of vineyards and, and all feeding off Lake Erie and Chautauqua Lake (“Lake Erie Wine Country” n.d.).
Before joining GCU University, I studied at Suffolk Community College. Then I enrolled in Saint Joseph College where I only studied on weekends throughout the day. I liked the experience at Suffolk Community College because it was the place where I took my first English classes, and I learned the language. I took the academic courses towards to obtain an Associate degree. I did not like the experience at Saint Joseph. The instructors sent tasks and research to be done on week days. It was impossible for me to meet my classmates in the business hours because we all worked. My perception was the program had not been designed for an adult-oriented class because it functioned as a regular class. My favorite teacher was who taught me English Grammar
I’ve faced many obstacles as I have furthered my education such as choosing whether to drop an honors class and switch to a college prep course instead, or dropping an orchestra class to pick up a second health science course to ensure a chance to get into the CNA class my senior year; but the easiest part of my senior year has been deciding on going Lander University, home of the Bearcat. I had taken a tour of the university once during my eleventh grade year I wasn’t so sure; however when I went back to tour it one last time on September 24th, 2016 it felt different. I had this feeling that this is where I was meant to be. As if I had found a new home for the next four years as I began my next journey of obtaining my BSN in nursing.
Ever since my first day on the Evergreen campus, I began to hear the phrase cura personalis everywhere. I heard it in convocation and welcome speeches and found it written throughout admissions pamphlets and even in course syllabi. As a new first-year student, the phrase was introduced to me with the meaning, “care of the whole person.” During my first year at Loyola, I found that there was an abundance of resources and support systems around the Evergreen campus that were there to help students, like myself, navigate collegiate life while nurturing all facets of themselves, including the physical, mental, and emotional. Having been the recipient of these helpful sources, I decided that I wanted to spend my future years at Loyola helping my
The unfamiliar made this event even more of an anxious moment for me. My first ever experience on the Essex campus as well as my first in person experience of a real live beatboxer. Introducing himself to the audience gives us a moment to know him as a person, born and raised in Maryland as a native neighbor. Once serving as Faculty for the very campus we were sitting in on top of that travelling all over the world to give other a chance to hear what he can do. His ability to make various sounds such as a percussionist, rattles, car motors, horn, guitars and even speaking while beatboxing is a true talent that blew me away throughout the entire event. Explaining to us some of the history about his talent, which is brings us from hip hop roots
This journey is designed to help Southeastern University develop a closer bond with me. All though I have face many situations with abandonment issues, bullying and suicide. These situations do not stop me from serving the Lord. You will enter the beginning of my relationship with God, growth with God, and why I am an academic and spiritual fit for Southeastern University.
Throughout my time in 4-H, I have attended countless meetings and fairs, gone on field trips with our club, and even competed at 4-H State Achievement days in both air rifle and livestock judging. Yet the most memorable and beneficial activity I have attended was the 4-H Animal Science Camp held at Penn State University. During the camp I had the opportunity to participate in intense, hands-on workshops. This workshops were quite diverse as they covered everything from animal handling, to grading meat, to even exploring cow rumens as well as sheep and pig reproductive tracts. These workshops were very in-depth and focus heavily on the science of the animals. Considering I was already leaning towards majoring in Agriculture, this camp was
Throughout my life I have always known that I would attend Hofstra University, since practically everyone in my family graduated from Hofstra. Growing up I vividly remember everyone wearing their blue and yellow sweatshirts representing their Hofstra pride. I always envied them, and since then I have always known Hofstra was the school for me. Now when I have finally come of age to apply to schools it felt like a "no-brainer" to apply. Yet when I began researching the university I found that Hofstra is truly the perfect match for me and not just because of my family. When I went on my first tour to Hofstra it was cold and rainy but the campus was still beautiful. During the tour, the guide talked about the "leap program" which quickly grasped
