Throughout my life I have always known that I would attend Hofstra University, since practically everyone in my family graduated from Hofstra. Growing up I vividly remember everyone wearing their blue and yellow sweatshirts representing their Hofstra pride. I always envied them, and since then I have always known Hofstra was the school for me. Now when I have finally come of age to apply to schools it felt like a "no-brainer" to apply. Yet when I began researching the university I found that Hofstra is truly the perfect match for me and not just because of my family. When I went on my first tour to Hofstra it was cold and rainy but the campus was still beautiful. During the tour, the guide talked about the "leap program" which quickly grasped
East Carolina University is and has always been a dream school for many students including myself. I have grown up hearing about the University and it is nothing short of spectacular. Many family members of mine have attended East Carolina, and I have always pictured myself at this school. It would be an honor to be a pirate. Throughout high school I have struggled in Science and Math. I know I could have done better in high school but in life you can always do something better, im eager to push myself more and work harder than ever to succeed as an adult, if given the chance There are many times when I should I have put school in front of my extra curricular activities such as dancing, art, work, tennis, and swimming. However, all of those
HELLO GUYS!!! I have something veryyyyyyyy important to tell you! After all of my stressing about FAFSA ( Free Application Federal Student Aid) , Colleges, and Transportation, I decided to further my education at Rowan University. It took me a long time to make this decision because this wasn’t my first choice! My first choice/ dream school was LIU Brooklyn ( Long Island University) in Brooklyn, New York. I was recently accepted there and planned on attending there, but their out-of-state tuition was extremely high! Their tuition was $33,000 a year and poor black man like myself, cannot afford it. I really loved LIU because it's a great school, beautiful campus, and most of all, it's in New York. I had my whole planned before it even started,
When my physics professor told me that, I was rather upset than happy. I am here to learn, not to only know couple of equations for the test. College classes are designed to challenge students, not to give easy A’s. My time with Harford Community College was great but not challenging enough. I desire more hands-on experience and research projects, which my community college both lack of. This is when I realize that I need to transfer to somewhere that would give me a lot of opportunities to shine.
In the fall of 2005, I took my first steps onto the campus of Appalachian State University with my sister who was entering as a freshman. One of my most vivid memories from my childhood is walking hand in hand with my then eighteen year old, wide eyed, and prospective sister into the Watauga dorms. Afterwards, as we left down King Street, I distinctly remember gazing back towards the magnificent North Carolina mountains and yearning to stay. Even at the age of five, I knew that one day I would follow in her footsteps and become an Appalachian Mountaineer.
Wilmington started out as home, then became just a vacation. After years of moving and resisting the pull to move back, I finally made the best and brightest decision I think I have ever made. I am moving home, and in the process, I thought there would be no better place to further my education than The University of North Carolina at Wilmington. I have recently taken a year off in between high school and pursuing my college education, and frankly, I think it has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life. I have learned to appreciate everything that was taught by my parents and the schooling I have received. In that year I took part in America's workforce constantly facing the struggles of being independent and caring for myself,
Hi, I am Anna Wysmierski, and I live in Farragut. I am originally from Elyria, Ohio, but my family moved here to Tennessee when I was eight years old. My summer was busy, but it was very fun. I spent the first half of my summer at East Tennessee State University participating in the Governor’s School for the Scientific Exploration of Tennessee Heritage and the second half going on college visits and doing summer swimming at Village Green. Regarding work, I worked a couple of lifeguard shifts at my neighborhood pool this summer. Next year, I plan on majoring in either math or actuary science at the college I end up attending. Honestly, I do not know much about personal finance, so most topics will be new and interesting for me to
Upon my return to Penn State for my junior year, I soon came to realize that I need to find out a way to realize my dream. Based on some research I did, U-Mich just come straight to my mind, and I firmly bought a ticket to Ann Arbor. When I visited Ann Arbor this summer, I was impressed by the breath of offering of LSA, especially the Statistics departmen
When I was on fall break in 2014, my family and I visited Bellarmine University, and I fell in love with idea of going to college there. It is also one of the most expensive colleges in Kentucky. Talking to an admissions worker, however, I learned about their golf team, and they suggested that as one means of helping pay for college. Until that visit, I had not seriously considered playing golf in college because I really did not think I was good enough. I realized, however, that if I worked hard enough, then I might get some college coaches to notice me; I might even pique the interest of Bellarmine’s coach.
Since I got to Texas State University, I have had a lot of busy weekends because I play for the tennis team and we travel a lot. The first tournament we played was here in our tennis complex, and it was a great experience. We played against St Edwards University, and although there were difficult matches and it was very hot, our team got the win.
When I decided to travel 232 miles to Duke University, I was incredibly worried about the upcoming change in my life: moving out of my home and onto a school campus. My family has been in Woodruff, SC for sixteen generations, and it becomes intimidating to leave the small town that we call ours. One of many things that makes me excited to have a chance to attend Duke is that freshman live together at a separate location. I am confident that residing with my cohorts exclusively will allow me to develop nearly familial relationships with other Duke students, much like I have in my class of 178 at Woodruff High. I value not only the education that DU offers, but also the opportunity it gives concerning my relationship with other students and
Montclair State University was the first college I visited. I arrived knowing nothing about what to look for or what I even wanted in college. I honestly didn’t even think I was going to like the college. This was mostly because it was a commuter college and I felt like I wanted to become independent, not stay at home with my parents. However, on the tour I felt like it was a place the students genuinely had fun in, even if they didn’t technically live there. My tour guide was constantly telling us about how many events and extracurricular clubs there were. He talked about how MSU has no limits because if there was a club you wanted that didn’t exist, you could create it yourself. As someone who is really focused on being able to have a lot
My interest in NYU began at the same time as my kinship with New York City. For years, I was an avid observer of all New York had to offer. I witnessed its vibrant diversity and its willingness to act as an open playground to any burgeoning individual.
“What!?!? No this can’t be true! How did I not think of it before?! How did I not connect the dots?!”. I am Delilah Marie Gonzalez by day, but Cobolt Fire by night. That was me freaking out back there. Let me start from the beginning.
Without background research and investigation, George Washington University can confound anyone. The first time I visited GW I wasn’t aware of the campus setup or just how many opportunities were available due to its amazing location. When I stepped foot outside of the bus I was confused because GW was anything but traditional. With buildings placed all over the heart of D.C., GW stood out to me. I could see a variety of culture, community, and commitment between the tour guide and students I met. My biggest goal is to create an everlasting imprint in the world of programming. Through the use of GWork I want to attain and manage my employment opportunities, and within open ended research facilities I can achieve my goal. I plan on researching
Most people say college is where you meet your lifelong friends. If it wasn't for me attending the University of Iowa to continue my softball career, I would have never got the chance to met who I now call my best friend. Not only do I call her my best friend, but also my roomate.
