Another motivation was when my neurosurgeon speculated my ability of returning back to school to complete my bachelor’s degree. My family has always been supportive and I credit their unconditional love and support to face my injury and to believe in myself. In 1996, my mother and sisters went to my graduation to witness me receiving my bachelor’s degree.
My decision to go back to school in the fall of 2012 was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I’m a stay at home mom of 4 boys with 2 of them being special needs. My oldest was born with a rare genetic condition called hereditary spastic paraplegia and my youngest son was born with a rare condition called Dravet Syndrome that requires 24/7 care. I was at a point in my life where I had lost my identity of who I was and I wanted to be me again. I made that important decision to go back to school for myself with the fear of how I was going to do it, but I knew that it was right. It took me 3 years to complete my AS but with the support of my husband and kids I was able to receive my degree. I worked hard and was able to juggle being
During the 1930’s, equality was not like it is today. Race was a common issue during this time. White people believed they were worth more and better than black people during this time. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the issue of equality is an ongoing theme throughout the story. Aunt Alexandra is a minor character in this story.
I always believed that things would just work out in the end. That I did not need to be wrapped up in over complicated situations because they would unravel themselves. I had this idea that I would grow up, go to college, and then get a job. My older brother Joseph had a similar idea. He started at the University of Dayton in August of 2015, but decided to come back home to our house in Bucks County at the end of October in 2015. His simple decision of “college wasn’t for me” had single handedly ripped me from my cozy reality that “everything works out” and had pitted my family against one another.
I have taken many different college preparatory classes throughout my college career that include: Chemistry 1100, Chemistry 1111, AP English, Trigonometry, College Algebra, and Calculus. These classes are the most difficult I have taken and they are the most difficult the school offers. I believe that these classes have prepared me the best for my post-secondary education from what I learn around the subjects we are taught. To succeed in theses classes you need countless hours and focused effort towards studying. These classes have given me a insight to how I should study for college exams and tests. My Math and English courses will give me a head start when starting my first year of college during the intro period of classes. The courses
I went through a lot in life as a child. Growing up was not easy as a kid ( especially
Now that you understand what a typical day looks like for me in college, let me explain to you why certain people in my life would say that I don't have a life because I attend college to better myself .The reason people say I do not have an interesting life because I am currently enrolled in community college, but my response to their hurtful rhetoric ,is that they do not see the underlying reason on why I am attend college. The reason I decided to go to college to expand my mind more and explore new horizons and be able to learn form the best in best in my career field and apply it to my future career. If I did not attend the college I would not be able to expand my mind and expand and be able to break into my career field in the future.
I am a college graduate. I am proficient in the English language. I am knowledgeable with the computer operations. I am a very responsible, diligent and hardworking individual.
My hope for my grades is that I will continue to strive to do well academically and so therefore I anticipate on making an A in the course. I have taken Advanced Placement courses in high school and managed to make quality grades throughout the classes, so I will strive to carry over that same determination into this course. This class covers topics that I take a great interest in, which I desire to be able to apply. I am currently on a path to gain an Associates degree in Education and my hope is to specifically teach History, which the material from this class also is empowering me to further my knowledge in my future career choice. All these combined reasons are why I am going to strive to learn the most I can, and earn an A for the
To support my education I am currently applying for all possible scholarships that I qualify for and are available. At the moment I am waiting for their response. I have also made contact with Central Michigan University to find out what amounts I will receive based off of my FAFSA application. On top of all of this I am performing to the best of my abilities academically and striving to make the most of the end of my high school career and to better prepare myself for the higher education that is to come. Outside of school I am also working for my Dad when I can in hopes that I will be able to save money towards my college education. I do not work all of the time because I like to have my education at the center of my attention so that I
As a college graduate, I would probably be perplexed if I were offered a lump sum of $5,000 sign-on bonus for my first post-college job. There are a number of things to consider when deciding whether to pay off existing debt or invest the money for additional earning potential. The first thing that I would consider is my risk tolerance including my age, income, earning power, time horizon and tax situation (Artzberger, 2014). My age at the time would weigh into the decision heavily. Meaning, at this time, I am relatively young and the time value of $5,000 at 5% interest would be approximately $21,000. Since I have paid taxes on the money, I could invest in a Roth IRA for tax-free gains upon retirement. On the other hand, paying off debt may
I am constantly questioning every aspect of my life, but the main thing I seem to always worry about is my success. The questions that mainly circulate my mind are, “am I living up to my purpose? Is this how I pictured my life after receiving my college degree? Is a bachelor’s degree really as worthless as people say?” But, one thing that I have never questioned is my passion to help others. I know it’s normal to have these feelings, to question your life’s purpose, but I am truly unhappy and I’m the only person who can change that.
As cliché as it might sound, every Saturday I wake up early in the morning to help my father landscape other people's yards as a stereotypical Mexican. This is my drive to pursue a higher-level education. Even though my life is not yet planned out I do have an idea on what I want to study and become in a nearby future. I am accepted at Arizona State University and am admitted in their criminal justice program. To have a major in criminal justice and earn my Bachelor's degree is my educational goal. There are two possible career paths that attract my attention to seek after gaining my degree. The first career path is a lawyer, ever since I was young I always found a strong passion in justice and fighting for what is fair. With my boldness as
The religion that I will be presenting is Christianity. Christianity was founded by Jesus Christ in the first century A.D. Jesus was born of a young virgin women named Mary, and her husband Joseph, a carpenter, in the town of Bethlehem. They then fled to Egypt to escape King Herod's decree that all young boys will be killed, and lived there for two years. Jesus then lived a fairly normal life until he turned 30, which is when He began His ministry. Jesus called 12 disciples, who would follow Him when He taught and preached to people. Jesus did this for three years, until it was time for Him to be crucified by the Romans. Jesus died by crucifixion, but rose again on the third day after His death. He then ministered to people for another 40 days, before ascending into Heaven. The news of Jesus spread throughout the known world, and even though many people were martyred for their faith in Jesus, Christianity has become the predominant religion in the world.
Have you ever had a goal in mind and thought it was impossible to reach? I have, I set a goal for myself that I thought was never going to happen. My goal was to graduate from high school with my fellow classmates. There was a lot of requirements to be able to walk on the stage of victory. I was nowhere near done with all the requirements to graduate. Therefore, I thought my goal was already crushed. First of all, my grades in class were very poor. Also, I failed the final exam multiple times. Finally, I didn’t have enough credits to be able to graduate. Graduating high school was very hard, but thankfully I was able to accomplish my goal at
If one’s goal is to attend an Ivy League school, then he or she must build a solid foundation starting day one of freshman year. To get into an Ivy League school:
