This event was almost simultaneous with the meeting of the woman I now have the pleasure to call my wife and this is why I say the two are so interwoven. It is also why I believe that without both I would not be where I am today. See when I was 19 I had made a lot of mistakes, it was so bad that I was on the verge of messing it up permanently. It was at this point that I fell to my knees and asked for a way out, I asked God to fix my broken life and in return I would serve him with whatever life he would give me. He answered that prayer almost immediately. He did this first by sending a brochure for the military, which offered an escape from the toxic place I had made my home up until then. Shortly after joining the military I was introduced to the woman I now lean on for support and guidance my wife and soulmate. Both of these events would not have been possible from where I started without me giving my life to God. After turning my life to God, joining the military, and marrying my wife I now have several reasons to seek advancement in my life. Which brings me to how the event of turning my life over to God influences my academic work and goals prior, and now at Colorado Christian
East Carolina University is and has always been a dream school for many students including myself. I have grown up hearing about the University and it is nothing short of spectacular. Many family members of mine have attended East Carolina, and I have always pictured myself at this school. It would be an honor to be a pirate. Throughout high school I have struggled in Science and Math. I know I could have done better in high school but in life you can always do something better, im eager to push myself more and work harder than ever to succeed as an adult, if given the chance There are many times when I should I have put school in front of my extra curricular activities such as dancing, art, work, tennis, and swimming. However, all of those
There are several things I hope to gain from my experience as a student at California Baptist University. Such things include, a community of God loving, supporting and encoring friends, a Christian based education and opportunities to grow into the person God created me to be.
I affirm Sterling College’s Statement of Faith. I find comfort in Christ during my daily life, knowing he died for my salvation. In times of struggle, I turn to Him for peace and in times of peace, I praise him joyfully for His goodness. During the loss of those I love, I find relief in knowing they rest in Heaven, and I will one day be joined with them again.
My decision to attend Trinity Valley Community College was influenced by two primary objectives. One was to conserve funds, as this is one of the most useful features of community colleges. The second objective was to maintain a 4.0 GPA. This is where I failed.
One of the most meaningful accomplishments of my life was my acceptance to Stokes Early College. It is an exceptional program that has allowed me to take college classes while still in high school and graduate with an associate's degree. It was especially challenging for me, because I was previously diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyper-Activity Disorder (ADHD.) However, despite being given this label, I was especially motivated to work hard to achieve the goals important to me. When my acceptance letter came in the mail, I was so excited because I had completed my goal of being accepted to Stokes Early College, and had received a new goal of finishing the program and moving on to a university. Remaining and excelling in the program has required
We are at a trying time in our human history. We find ourselves at a moral, cultural, and political crossroads. With much of the landscape of influence being shifted year-to-year, or even day-to-day, we must, as individuals, recognize the importance of placing Christian values at the forefront of our thinking. Being as close to Christ-like as we humans can be must be essential in the way we think, the way we treat others, and the way we invest our very selves in causes that serve His name. In my previous three plus years here, as well as before, I believe that I have embraced these qualities and am ready to expand my horizon to the collegiate level.
Well my journey starts out just like most high schoolers. I graduated for high school in May of 2012. I got ready to start my next chapter in my life at Iowa Central Community College. I had no clue what I was going to major in. I knew only one thing that I wanted to play football in college, and get my education payed for free. Also I wanted to make it to the highest level in football to play at the FBS level. Some things I had to do to reach that goal where be a good football player as well as a great student. I shortly figured out that I was going to just do essential studies and graduate.
I spent a year of college trying to be African. Afrobeats vibrated through the walls of Beets-Veenstra’s first floor dorm. My Christian college had an open-door policy. Walking past the ninth door on the left gave visitors an eyeful of my black hips swaying in circles as if an invisible hula-hoop entangled my waist. I had to get the moves I learned at the parties right. The beats were different from the hip hop music I regularly danced to. They were smooth tempos, but faster than reggae and bodies rocked with more control. My roommate complained about the hours I spent dancing in front of the mirror. We were not flat mates the next the year.
When I was a senior in high school my father had his second heart attack and had to have open heart surgery. Upon Graduation from High School in May 2016, I made the decision to move in with my Father who is a sixty-eight-year-old Disabled Vietnam Veteran with many health issues. During my Freshman year at Pearl River Community College, his health had declined and the doctors discovered that he had an aneurysm in his chest and blockages in his legs. Thankfully after his surgery was completed and he was able to come back home, I was to be on break so I could stay with him and help with whatever he needed. I am one of six children and have chosen to take care of him and live there in lieu of working outside of College. The two oldest of my
I completed a summer Internship at Britton Christian Church. The Church is over Eighty years old, and is located in Oklahoma City Oklahoma. I discovered the availability of this internship through one of their new pastors Irvin Rodriguez. Over the past few years I had a growing interest in youth Ministry. My time at Dallas Christian College helped me to realize my passion for the youth. I then began to look for an internship position relating to youth Ministry.
I hope this letters finds you well! In May I will complete my first year at Manhattan Christian College. My current major is family and counseling. Being here at MCC has strengthened my faith in so many ways. In high school I was able to participate in five mission trips throughout the United States. I have always had a passion to help people and in 2011 when I went on my first mission trip I had a yearning to go out of the country and help people. Although I was only a freshman in high school I didn’t put that dream on the back burner. I want to share with you a challenging ministry opportunity God has presented to me. During July 2016, I will be going to San Cristobal, Dominican Republic as an internship.
This past spring, I had the opportunity to tour Abilene Christian University for the first time. The administration at the university also allowed me to spend the night in the freshman dorms so I could have the full ACU experience. Prior to this visit, ACU had been one of my top college interests but after touring and getting a taste of what ACU was really like, I absolutely fell in love. I found that the people I met were open about their faith, I got to see firsthand how excellent the nursing department is, and I saw how easily students were able to get involved with the many programs ACU provides.
I am a first-generation, Chicano and will soon finish my last semester before I transfer to a four year university in the upcoming fall. Coming from a first-generation household, I have had to overcome many obstacles to be in the position that I am now in. Community college has been a valuable resource that has allowed me to pursue an amazing education at a low price which has eased the burden of high tuition on my parents. Sometimes it is the cost of education that impedes those that seek it and scholarships are one avenue in which they become easier to travel down the path to success. Coming out of Gilroy High School years ago, I was unsure of what I wanted to major in and devote myself to but I had the amazing opportunity of enrolling in University of California, Merced.
Ever since I was a kid I have always thought about what college I was eventually going to go to. I made the decision in high school that I wanted to be a special education teacher, so I thought about some schools that had that teaching program. My number one school I wanted to attend that had the best teaching program was East Carolina University. Having ECU as my number one choice lead me to apply there. Weeks after I applied I got a letter telling me some sad news that I was not accepted. Since I applied to ECU and did not get in, I was now thinking about applying to other schools like Methodist University or maybe a community college.
I interviewed my dad for this case study. He has not necessarily been through this situation, but he will be very soon. He is one of five children and his father is starting to age. He and his siblings will be dealing with this in the coming years, so I just asked my dad to give his thoughts on this. He stated several times that Teresa needs to make her needs be known and not let her children overstep her. She needs to let her voice be heard on issues and let her children know what is important to her. He said something that I agreed with and thought it was smart. He talked about how she should talk to her children and make a lot of these decisions before she dies or even before she goes into a mental or physical state that she is unable to
