This past spring, I had the opportunity to tour Abilene Christian University for the first time. The administration at the university also allowed me to spend the night in the freshman dorms so I could have the full ACU experience. Prior to this visit, ACU had been one of my top college interests but after touring and getting a taste of what ACU was really like, I absolutely fell in love. I found that the people I met were open about their faith, I got to see firsthand how excellent the nursing department is, and I saw how easily students were able to get involved with the many programs ACU provides. Attending a university with a foundation of God’s word is very important to me. I cherish good friends that have a firm relationship with Jesus …show more content…
My family and I flew from Portland, Oregon to Dallas and then drove into Abilene late in the evening. We were tired from the travel but decided to take a quick drive around the campus that night before my official tour the next day. The first thing we saw on our loop was a huge intermural soccer tournament with about 100 students out on the field competing and in the stands cheering. As we continued, we saw the science center and the gym. We were so impressed with what we saw that we had to check it out. We parked the car, walked past some large buildings and into the lighted gym. We explained to the attendant at the front desk that we were visiting. After a warm welcome, she offered to let us look around and was even willing to walk with us if we needed help. Since we were fine looking around on our own, she mentioned that we could go upstairs by taking the elevator behind the rock wall. I have heard that everything is bigger in Texas, but I was in awe! On the actual tour day, I was told about many of the other activities students participate in such as social clubs, classes at the gym, and on campus student jobs and other fantastic
There are several things I hope to gain from my experience as a student at California Baptist University. Such things include, a community of God loving, supporting and encoring friends, a Christian based education and opportunities to grow into the person God created me to be.
I am a high school senior at Fair Park, looking forward to my first year at Jackson State University in the upcoming fall. My cumulative GPA is currently at a 3.6 average and anticipating to increase next semester. I would be considered the best person to receive a scholarship simply because I go the extra mile to assure my success. Although college is an extensive goal, it could be quite expensive. There is no better way to pay for college than by being awarded money for outstanding academic excellence.
Why Tulane? There are plenty of obvious reasons for wanting to go to Tulane. For one thing it’s in New Orleans, and who doesn’t love New Orleans? I live on the North Shore. I could come home every, single weekend and I would never miss a holiday with my family. Groceries and laundry wouldn’t be a problem.
In my life, I have had to make made many difficult choices, each with their own consequences, but the most significant choice I made occurred three years ago; I decided to leave my home state of Maine, and enroll in Texas A&M University. This decision has had a major impact on my life, and continues to influence my life today for better and for worse. I've grown to be more independent, but as the same time my debt increases every semester.
I spent a year of college trying to be African. Afrobeats vibrated through the walls of Beets-Veenstra’s first floor dorm. My Christian college had an open-door policy. Walking past the ninth door on the left gave visitors an eyeful of my black hips swaying in circles as if an invisible hula-hoop entangled my waist. I had to get the moves I learned at the parties right. The beats were different from the hip hop music I regularly danced to. They were smooth tempos, but faster than reggae and bodies rocked with more control. My roommate complained about the hours I spent dancing in front of the mirror. We were not flat mates the next the year.
I fully understand the reason for my suspension from North Central Texas College. At the time of classes, my grades were too low and did not show my strength as a student. I would like you/ the school to reconsider my enrollment for classes.
My day began with Fergalicious blaring from my cell phone to wake me up at 5:45 a.m. It took me several minutes to muster the strength to roll out of bed. It was time to visit Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. After a warm shower, an hour of primping, and a quick breakfast my mom, dad and I were on our way to Decorah. The hour drive seemed to last an eternity. Several things were running through my head during this long drive. I was reminiscing on my visit to the University of Iowa that I went to the day before, and how at home I felt in Iowa City. I was also thinking about all the things I could be doing besides this college visit. Eventually we pulled up to the Luther campus my mom turned to me in the back seat and pleaded:
There is a ticket in my hand that grants me the admission to the University of Texas at Austin. With this ticket I will go to UT Austin and make the most out of my time trying to get a degree in computer science. I have worked very hard for this ticket and I’m glad that I finally got it. At UT, I will take the best classes and study hard to get the best grades so that I can get my degree. This is important because I want to reach my goals and make new higher goals after I complete them. Also, I would join many clubs and organizations to stay active while I am in college. This will help me do many more great things after I finish college.
The researchers of this study think that students who attend bible schools are so indulged in learning and knowledge about their own religion that they are less concerned with other organizations. The researchers said that they believe that the “nationality, sex, occupation, social class, ethnic origin and so forth” (Carvalho, 1997) has a great influence on each individual's social identity. For students who may have a religious affiliation, there are several different options when it comes to choosing a university. For those who are affiliated with the Baptist faith, there are a few Baptist colleges to help students develop a better understanding of
It is important to me to chose a school where I think I would most fit in. My tours to the University of Houston have really shown me how diverse the community is, and I love it! I am a very active person who loves to chatter, make friends, and educationally challenge myself everyday. The social, yet focused environment that I felt on my trips makes me believe I would fit right in. The people are so friendly, and to me, it is amazing to see the different races and ethnicities come together to watch and cheer at football games or sing along to everyone’s favorite song the way the students do at the University of Houston. My family is another big part of my decision to apply to the University of Houston. My family is very tightly knit. From attending
My first year at The University of Texas has been an amazing adventure. I took very intriguing classes such as: psychology, genetics, chemistry one and two, microbiology, ethics, sociology, physics, political science, environmental science, and creative writing. I greatly enjoyed the different people that you meet. The students that you are surrounded with have the same mind set and the same goals. Everyone is very friendly and kind. My first day of school I was lost for the total of an hour but a few students were kind enough to walk me to my building just to make sure I got there. I love the environment of self-teaching and striving for the knowledge you wish to achieve. The professors are all very kind and helpful if you are willing to ask.
I would like to start out by saying I love attending South Plains College. South Plains has a very positive atmosphere, which I admire. All of my Instructors are understanding and easy to speak with, but sadly, I seem to have had a communication gap with Mrs. Hudelson. In this essay I will state the embarrassing situation she put me in when she decided to drop me from the course.
On the 17th of July Friday we went to the Texas Christian University located in Fort Worth, Texas for our field trip. When we arrived at the TCU I was overwhelmed by the size, and beauty of its massive structure. Sassan the coordinator of athlete facility who is our guide for the TCU facility field trip take us to the first facility. Amon G. Carter stadium home of the TCU Horned Frogs football team. Many upgrades were made such as press box, TV broadcast booth, small video, score board, and seats to develop and increase the capacity number with the renovation in 2012 cost 164 million. Looking around the facility I learned that they made great effort for stadium renovation and all these implementation (process) was to enhance the game day atmosphere. The first facility is much related to the chapter 4 facility planning, because they went through various renovation for future uses of facility and to make attract more fan to support their beloved
I am not your typical college student, because my journey to Salem State University has been full of challenges and personal setbacks. While every student has their own personal “demons”, I have face battles that most students will never come across in their lifetimes. I have taken a year off college to deal with financial situations and personal family issues to gather my inner thoughts. Moreover, I have been to three colleges that have taught me huge amount of information, each college has their own set of unique individuals. Some colleges had no resources and others exceed in this category. The students I have met are define by their socioeconomic backgrounds, however those who broke the social norm are the most relatable ones to me. As
On Saturday, November 12th, I went to a Northern Iowa basketball game with my friend. This was my first athletic event that I attended on campus. I was very excited to see how the atmosphere was like at the McLeod Center. The Panthers were playing Coe College from Cedar Rapids. There was not a lot of students there, so my friend and I were able to get good seats for the game.
