Color Me Impressed
“Color is a power which directly influences the soul.”- Wassily Kandinsky
Hosted in the parking lot of the Florida Mall is the annual Color Vibe 5k. In a grey, broken lot sits the most colorful run in the world. A color run is usually a 5k that benefits charity. That sounds standard until you throw in the trademark. Dyed cornstarch. The dyed cornstarch, or powder, is thrown at runners in white shirts as they run. This creates a sea of different colors and an unforgettable experience.
When we showed up to the color run, my roommate, Ashley and I parked our car in a parking lot, and followed the gaggles of other runners to the juxtaposed lot. The crisp, cold air of a spring morning energized us. The walkways were flooded with unimpressed parents who loaded their overly-excited

One of the ladies spray painted her white, curly, thinning hair with rainbow colored hair chalk. She walked with energy, pride, and jubilance as her friend slowly followed behind her.
We arrived at the registration booth at the front of the lot, our eyes wide with excitement. My eyes met with the eyes of a man in his mid-30’s. His tired, sleep-deprived eyes locked with mine with annoyance and anger. He was dragged to an (should be) empty parking lot at the back of a mall that contained over a thousand screaming people at seven in the morning.
My roommate and I were welcomed into the color run by the booming noise of Latin-inspired music. We then saw the sea of people all wearing white shirts warming up with Zumba. The Zumba instructor was tall, muscular, and was wearing a peculiar orange wig. He was the only one in the vicinity who appeared to be fully awake and ready to exercise.
We passed up the opportunity to dance and walked over to the vendor’s booths. There were booths for anywhere to car insurance to sugary, sweet drinks and snow
Under the supervision of Jeff Labriola, Christopher Columbus Student Council advisor and art teacher, parents spent a hectic morning on the day of the dance transforming the gym into
Starting high school can be a little scary, especially when you have no guidance from siblings, like me, being the first one from my family to have an education. But that did not stop me from succeeding, I?ve always been confident and determined. I?m an enthusiastic when it comes to trying new things. Who would have thought I was going to be a good athlete plus a book geek, when in my past years I was just a regular kid. I was pretty excited about joining a club that had a connection with high school, that way I didn?t have to start from zero, I always want to be a step ahead. Fortunately, in summer, a high school coach was recruiting freshmen for running either cross country or track, they both involve running, so I considered it like the same sport with different timing. And this is when it all started. Running

Overall, my first semester has been going pretty well. The semester is going like a roller coaster up, down, and fast. I have some bad days and some good days. Through this semester, I have many challenges I faced which I honestly did not want to face. Even though I just wanted to dodge or run away from the challenges, I still face them and fought through them. Some challenges I face this semester, hopefully not in the next, are procrastination, time management, and laziness. I have not only gone through challenges; I have also gone through successes. I am proud of turning assignments on time, passing tests and quizzes, completing my SCR points, and being involved in clubs. Being in Biomed has helped me grow as a student in the area of knowledge.
I chose to break the norm of either smiling at strangers or giving them a neutral look when you make eye contact. I decided to give every stranger I passed a confused look like they had just spoken to me in another language. I must admit, this made me feel a bit goofy. I was on the fence as to whether or not to do this in the first place but I decided I just had to. The responses I received were quite comical. A few people asked if I was alright, and one person even asked if I had a problem with them.
Every year, Valley High School dance classes perform different dances during the spring dance concert. This year the concert title was ¨Dancepirations¨ and was performed two days, April 26th and 27th. As a student taking beginning dance, I was part of this year's dance concert. My dance class and I spent months learning and practicing the choreography that Ms. Torres, Yanell, and Yessenia created for us. It was a hip hop dance using Jennifer Lopez’s songs. Our costume also was chosen for them, it was a blue overall with a yellow mustard or burgundy t-shirt. This was an amazing experience where we realized how capable of dance we are and where we learned lessons of great value.
I’ve always asked myself,” what does it really take to make it big? To play amongst the greats, how could I do that? Me, Skylar Ross, a young man with this desire, the passion, wanting to play side by side with legends, to become someone people talk about, is what has pushed me all these years. It drove me to become a better player, to become more informed about the sport. This also influenced me to become more intertwined with school, that way I could have a better chance at getting a scholarship at a college.
For the last six years, I have been given the opportunity to competitively show jump. Competing has taught me a variety of lessons, including how to manage my commitments. Five times a week, I spend three hours at the barn, and throughout the year I spend various weekends competing. Though I wouldn’t rather be doing anything else, it doesn’t leave me with much spare time at the end of the night. Throughout the years, I have learned how to manage my social life, school work, and riding. I quickly realized that even though coming home from the barn at eight p.m and playing rock band until two a.m is way more exciting than doing homework for the rest of the night, that plan of action wasn’t going to do me any good. As a result of my past mistakes
As a new owner of Appealing Apparel I would test out or mix together a couple different styles of leaderships. To me a leader is someone that motivates you to do something. Also, a leader is someone you can look up to. Knowing what I would want is a leader is how I would base off of what I would do. As a leader I would have weekly meetings to discuss what I have seen in the past week and how our sales have been. I would request to have employee’s opinions of the store. In the meeting I would include what event we have planned this week. Some events would be sale or conventions. I may give tasks of what need to be done each day. I would mostly like everyone to be on the same page going into a new week. When going into the week I would bring
30 days. There are 30 days until I, Brittany Nicole turn 16. In my world turning 16 doesn’t mean having a big sweet 16 birthday party, it means you’re officially a citizen of the world and nothing bad will happen as long as you are branded, at least that’s what we all thought.
If I'm in...I'll be All-In. While I'll be the first of family and friends to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder and unsure of the challenges within the campus community, I know myself. I am at my best when I fully commit.
Talking is a great way for anyone to express how they feel and let things go. Brandie has been an amazing out let for me to talk to. She works with Campus life and ran my high schools program. I have known Brandie most of my life. She has kids about the same age as me. If I was ever in need to talk or just have someone around Brandie was there for me. She knew my story and was able to help step back and look at the big picture. Brandie is like a momma to me and continues to this day to be one of my role models.
There are some internships that I've participated on that have helped me discover my own
I was quick with my actions as I plummeted myself into my crapload of a car. I scurried to the sign with a rush of hope. “This guy must be demented.” I thought as I read the ad for myself. And there it was, an 8 million dollar offer for the retrieval of some old man’s beloved pet. What kind of person has that type of dough? As I remembered my current situation, It hit me that I had no time to think about this. I was trekking to this guy’s house to see for myself what the genuine reason was.
Outside the grandstand is the Corn Roast. They sell grilled corn that is absolutely fabulous. We each grab an ear, then head down the street towards the Giant Slide. The Giant Slide is a green and yellow wavy slide that is about fifty feet tall and
