What it Takes to Make it Big I’ve always asked myself,” what does it really take to make it big? To play amongst the greats, how could I do that? Me, Skylar Ross, a young man with this desire, the passion, wanting to play side by side with legends, to become someone people talk about, is what has pushed me all these years. It drove me to become a better player, to become more informed about the sport. This also influenced me to become more intertwined with school, that way I could have a better chance at getting a scholarship at a college. It all started one day when my parents walked up to me with delightful smiles on their faces and asked, “how would you like to play soccer?” I didn’t know much about the sport at the time. But I’m the type of person who is willing to try new things. So I told them yes and we went out and bought all of the equipment I needed. On the very first practice. I didn’t know how to play or what to do. The league I was in was for really young kids, from ages four to six, So many of us were just being introduced to soccer. Over a few practices I began to understand on the purpose of the game and what I needed to do. Then we had our very first game for many of us. We were so nervous, but when …show more content…
With my dad being in the military, we tend to move a lot, or PCS. This happens every few years, so once I finally get settled in and in a comfortable environment, it’s time to move again. This has affected my training dramatically because when it gets time to PCS, I have to stop playing so I can help pack and get things ready to go. Finally, when we get to our new “home” it takes another few months to get the house situated. And then we have to find another league I can play in. This all takes about a year's span. Even though my parents are busy all the time, I know that they support me and do everything they can to help me accomplish my
Adjusting your schedule after being in a sport for most of your life is the most difficult aspect of leaving the team. “Having more time to work on my personal life and school life was something that created a stress free schedule for me. The hardest adjustment was not having a team to work out with every day, but I quickly was able to create my own workout,” Dorsey
Throughout my early childhood, I knew I wanted to change lives for the better. I have always contemplated on being a doctor since the age of three and decided to be an actress/singer at age six. Since then I have worked hard to maintain good grades and up until now I have worked relentlessly to maintain good grades, this all payed off when I was accepted into a university that would give me the opportunity to follow my dreams. To be able to accomplish my dreams, I have studied, auditioned, and performed to get prepared and be in the place i’m in today. If it wasn't for my determination, persistent, realization, and hard work, I wouldn't be where I am today. Through countless rehearsals, I was able to accomplish my dream of learning how to sing,
That night my parents informed me that I liked playing soccer so much that I asked the CIA h to have practice two times a week and they did it. After a couple weeks I keep moving up in age groups and loved playing soccer. It's was at the moment when I was 8 and I had to make a decision of playing baseball or soccer and don't get me wrong it was the hardest decision I had ever made in my life because I loved to play both. The sport I picked was soccer caused I just loved the thrill and the feeling of scoring a goal almost all the
Overall, my first semester has been going pretty well. The semester is going like a roller coaster up, down, and fast. I have some bad days and some good days. Through this semester, I have many challenges I faced which I honestly did not want to face. Even though I just wanted to dodge or run away from the challenges, I still face them and fought through them. Some challenges I face this semester, hopefully not in the next, are procrastination, time management, and laziness. I have not only gone through challenges; I have also gone through successes. I am proud of turning assignments on time, passing tests and quizzes, completing my SCR points, and being involved in clubs. Being in Biomed has helped me grow as a student in the area of knowledge.
It was the last inning, the count was two balls and two strikes with two outs. Our catcher calls a curveball, I move three steps to my right. Alex is in the stretch, he starts his motion towards home, the runner on first breaks for second base. The pitch is delivered and the ball is hit directly up the middle and over the pitcher’s head, coming from shortstop, I break to my left, I am about to catch the ball when I glance at the runner. He was sliding right into me, I caught the ball, jumped up, and threw the ball while in mid-air. It was a perfect throw, right to the first baseman’s chest. That was it, the game was over, we had just beaten the number one team in the country to advance to the world series! We all threw

Imagine going to the moon without oxygen, that’s how I felt when I moved to a new country during my teenage years, with little to no English, no idea of how the society functions, and clueless about how to speak the native tongue. When I moved to the United States from India, I faced many hardships along the way. One of my biggest roadblocks was making new friends. Being accepted into the classroom by my classmates was a great comparison to how the real world worked, and the real world was a hard place to be accepted in.
Going into this event I wanted to learn about possible job opportunities or internships that health care facilities provided. I prepared by looking over my resume and picking the most important points that future employers would be interested in knowing. I planes on going to each booth that offered health care, introducing my self, and asking what their company was about. I also went online to see what the facilities would be interested in hearing. Once I enter the Career Event I looked in the paper they handed out to see which booths were related to my majors. Based on this I mapped out which I would talk to first, based on which ever was located closes to where I was. I visited the American Red Cross, Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center, Deaconess,
On a normal, sunny day after school school,I hopped off of the yellow-orange school bus and walked home. When I got to my house ,my parents greeted me and then said,”Mia,we have to move in about three months.”My heart dropped like an apple from a tree.I was filled with dejection.
I stood on the mound gripping the yellow softball, my heart was racing, my hands were sweating, and the soft breeze was blowing my ponytail side to side. I was facing my biggest rival from the neighboring school. My teammates were all cheering “you got this” but I knew in the back of my mind I was facing not only their best hitter but my biggest nemesis. She and I have had a long standing rivalry like the relationship of Harry Potter and Voldemort. There were 2 outs and the game was tied in extra innings. The first pitch I threw to her she swung and missed I was getting excited, the second pitch she swung at and missed everyone in our stands was yelling and cheering as well as my whole they were thinking we got this. I could feel my pulse pound
One doesn’t question miracles, one embraces them to the fullest. Although I was cutting it close, the fact that I was able to complete all requirements to surpass the rank of Life Scout before my 18th birthday was truly remarkable. My former Boy Scout Leader of Troop 1, Rodney Hanson, provided me with an enormous amount of encouragement and support to focus on the required merit badges necessary for advancement. My leader motivated me to accomplish great things within the Boy Scouts of America.
Gerald had leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table as he’d finished his appraisal, and kept his gaze locked on the actress, keen to see if his words, deliberately constructed to appeal to her ego and self awareness had any effect. His lips curled up slightly at the corners, in what could be taken either as a smile, or an expression of curiosity, and he nodded as she shifted on the sofa, and began to speak, his own gaze never leaving her face, and attemptiedto gauge as much as he could from her expression as the words she spoke.
Almost everyone has tough weeks every once in a while. I believe that having a bad week will make me more motivated to accomplish my goal of becoming more physically active.
