I learned about CTE seven years ago when I was home schooled. I was excited that such a school existed! I asked my parents when I could enroll. They answered: “According to CTE, you have to be a high school student or at the age of 16 to attend any of their two year tech programs.” Since that conversation, I continued with my home school education provided by my parents for another three years before they reintegrated me back to public education. I reintegrated into the high school in my hometown, Milton. The plan was to either attend Essex High School or South Burlington High School, but that did not worked out because of my residency in Milton. At first, the integration into MHS felt overwhelming. It was until the second semester of my
When you are home-schooled, especially in High School, there are a lot of different events and activities. Such as sports,(baseball, softball, dance, etc) Co-op, (credited classes with other kids who are home-schooled, once a week) and even the home-school prom. When you play sports in the home school community, just like in private school, and in public school. There are events to end the season of your sport, dance team (finals), volleyball (regionals), baseball and softball (world series). With baseball in the home-school community there is this huge event in the middle of May in Orlando, Florida. This event is called The Home School World Series. While all of these baseball teams are at the world series competing against other teams all
I HAD BEEN ASLEEP QUITE SOUNDLY FOR A COUPLE HOURS, WHEN I WAS AWOKEN BY AN ALL TOO FAMILIAR SOUND. IT SEEMED LIKE EVERY TIME MY BRAIN REGISTERED CERTAIN NOISES - EVEN WHEN I WAS DEEP IN SLEEP, IT SENT OFF A PANIC TRIGGER THAT FLOODED THROUGH MY MIND. THIS WAS ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE TIMES.
It was early July in Southern California: the sun was high, the air was warm, and the palm trees were swaying. Unfortunately, the bright sun could not light the darkness of the pit I had been slowly falling into during my tumultuous school year at my new charter school. On that day, when the other girls were tanning beachside, I was sitting deskside. I was trapped in a tiny, moldy, yellow-carpeted education office at the school I had transferred to the year prior. Like my fading hope, the dusty chandelier was barely hanging on from the ceiling. The room’s peculiarity added to my anxiety, as I felt failure lingering in the musty air. Though I had been sheltered by my parents’ optimism, I knew what I would soon hear: “I am so sorry sweetheart,
I find myself reading this short paragraph over and over(above). My topic sentence makes me happy and proud. Going back to school was the best thing I have done. I chose to talk about going back to school to the “future employer” because it shows I am motivated as well as dedicated. This class has brought a lot to my attention. The mannerism that is expected in the “business world” is to speak and write well. It is extremely important to know how to write (type) a meaning full and proper paper whether it is for school or work. I have noticed a great impact in my vocabulary and writing skills. My boss told me on Monday he is impressed with the new docs I typed up for our new clients (with no help from him). I was not excited about this class
Now let’s quickly close this protracted (slide rule scaled) essay by skipping over the gaping and barren caldera that is my Public School education, where I studiously avoided the pre-med Math and Science track - since I don’t plan on becoming a doctor or a mathematician, in favor of Castle’s (almost but not quite) nationally recognized Media Arts Program - since I do plan on pursuing the Arts, diving deep into the (Liberal) Arts and Languages - Pidgin, Spanish, French, English & Writing classes, to emulate the trail-blazing trajectory of my older (and similarly math-phobic) sister Maria, so like her I too might procure a Kenyon Film degree and secure my fame and fortune and everything that goes with it - I thank you all (and one day The Academy)
I have worked with children that are a few months old to 17-years-old. Although I have had many experiences with elementary school students by being an Early Elementary and Special Education major, my main experiences have been through Junior Achievement, volunteering at a Sunday school for children with disabilities, and being a Resident Assistant.
For the intern interview, I was fortunate in that there is an intern, Amanda, working at the school where I am employed as a classroom aide. It occurred to me that I would welcome any words of wisdom from someone who is much further along in the school counseling program process and yet not so far removed that the lessons are still accessible.
Growing up in a public school, my behavior did not matter to most of my teachers because almost every kid behaved the same way. For example, back in my intermediate days we used to crumple up paper and try to shoot it into the trash can, like it was a basketball. Students at Saint Louis do the same thing, the only difference is we would just leave it on the floor for the teacher to pick up.
“Ugh,” I muttered under my breath as the receptionist told us that the wait was 30 minutes. My stomach was already growling since I had not eaten for several hours. Additionally, the mouth-watering aromas from the Italian food aggrandized my desire to devour the food ravenously. After being admitted into the dining hall of Olive Garden, I decided to order an exquisite meal, consisting of three courses.
Growing up in Austin, Texas, encountering an abounding amount of different beliefs and experienced people happens periodically; Considering my family and I moved frequently from house to house. For the majority of my life I have moved from school to school, and city to city. Not only was moving annoying but it was one of the hardest situations I have been through in my life. I have changed schools multiple times, some experienced turning out better than others. At one school I resembled a astute student that everyone wanted to partner up with, while at another keeping up and learning was arduous due to the briskness lessons were being taught. In high school, I was enrolled in multiple classes that involved working in teams. One of these classes
The cool, brisk wind blew against the two story, brick walled office and, the smell of Fall, containing the smell of orange, ripe pumpkin, surrounded the air. Dry, Fall colored leaves from the two hazel birch trees, rooted in the front lawn, funneled down to the lower, empty parking lot of the property; the work week ended. Surprisingly, the cloudy, gloomy Saturday afternoon contained many fun activities for my Dad, Annie, and I.1 Annie, my blonde, blue eyed, older sister and I would hop into our Dad’s black Infiniti. My tall, brown haired Dad would drive us to his lab. His dental office, Ordont, housed the activities of creating dental appliances, ranging from invisible retainers to braces and resided off Smizer Station road in Fenton, Missouri. When we reached the parking lot, Annie and I would leap out of the car and skip down the cracked cement path to the wooden, chestnut door, waiting for our Dad to unlock the entrance. When we reached the door, Annie and I were greeted by the soft purr of Jinxy, sitting on the welcome mat. Jinxy was a calm black cat with white fur paws and
I needed a tune up for my Mustang, so, like any other person with a car would do, I decided to drop it off this morning at a mechanic near the school (about a ten-minute walk). My thinking at the time was, if I dropped it off now it should be ready by the time I’m finished with class. Expectantly, it didn’t go as planned.
This year I have grown academically, socially and personally in many ways.I have worked more on spelling and grammar but still I really want to work more on vocabulary and I type faster. I really like writing in class even though sometimes the writing prompts are challenging I always try my best I have a good attitude always towards humanities and writing.I have grown a lot in science last year my scores were quite low but I was still improving the idea of tectonic plates didn’t really interest me as this year. This year I really like the science unit which currently is the earth moon and stars and this was one of my favorite units and my grade had improved a lot.I also really like to read at school but I have trouble read at home because sometimes
In the Chappell home there are four brothers and two sisters. With four brothers things can get pretty wild sometimes, and a saint of a mother is required. We all knew my mom is awesome ,but what we didn’t know is that she has a world class boxers jab. We soon learned that even saints can be pushed to the breaking point.
Over the course of this semester I had the opportunity to teach at three very different schools in the Laramie area, St. Laurence, Snowy Range Academe, and the Lad school located on the University of Wyoming campus. At these different locations I was able to teach Pre-k through 2nd grade. I was also exposed to teaching in very different locations, school set ups, and teaching styles of the resident teachers.
