It was a normal chilly sunday on September 13th, 2015. My dad was in the garage with some of his friends watching the football game. It was the Dallas Cowboys vs. the New York Giants. My dad and his friends were making hot dogs and burgers on the grill but I don’t like those so I asked my dad if I could go to the store and get the ingredients to make taco dip. He handed me $20 and I headed off to the store with one of my dad’s friend’s son. The store was at the end of my street so it wasn’t a far walk. After we bought all the stuff we needed, we headed back to the house. We were almost home when I saw a women standing outside of her car in her driveway. She was holding groceries and petting a little kitten. “Awe it’s so cute!” I said “Is it yours?” the woman asked. “No. But it’s adorable!” This was a little weird for me to like this cat because i’ve always hated cats and never wanted one. I was scared they would scratch me and that they were all mean. After the girl went inside I said to my friend, “Pick it up.” “What?” he asked. …show more content…
Pick it up.” I demanded. My friend picked it up and carried it all the way back to my house. I set down the food and started to pet the cat and asked my dad if I could keep it. He told me that it was too expensive to pay for all the food, litter, vet bills, etc…. I started to get really upset because I felt so bad for the kitten. It had no home and no food and it was really cold outside and it was only a few months old. After a few minutes, I went inside to go make the taco dip for everyone. As I was walking inside I noticed that the little kitten was following me back to my house. I went inside and looked through the window. The kitten had jumped up onto our porch railing and was looking inside while meowing. It sat there the entire time I was inside. After about twenty minutes I got a bowl and filled it with milk. My friend picked it up and looked to see if it was a boy or
At last we made it. We were at the place. I was jumping with excitement. Then we went in the place there was 5 puppies in the house. They were so fuzzy. Since we took them outside one of them followed me and my dad. That’s how we pick out our puppy. On the way home, we were passing him around so everyone would see him. When it was my turn he fell asleep on my lap. My mom said to just leave him on my lap so he wouldn’t wake up.
I said, “Miss Kitty, I’m a Bengal, and Bengals are the only cats that have glitter. My Mom told me an Asian Leopard and an Abyssinian fall in love and send an order to heaven and the stork brings baby Bengals.”
Sitting in a hospital waiting room, alone, afraid; and waiting for the news; would she be ok? Would she even survive? My nerves were out of control; my heart was beating through my chest, you could literally see it thumping through my top. The beads of sweat racing down my forehead, as if I was in the middle of the Safari dessert. I have been an athlete my entire life, yet I have never felt so physically drained. I look around, my eyes opening, then closing; as if I am coming in and out of consciousness, then suddenly echoed words begin to ring around my ear drums….” Sir…...sir, can you hear me? Sir please, we need to know what happened. We need to know what happened to her. Maybe my motionless state showed my
I arrived at practice with my shoes laced, hair pulled back, and the mindset that I was unstoppable. I could play against every member of my team and come out the victor on any given day. It was the first day of practice that week, and challenge matches were scheduled to begin. The team went through our daily shuffle of drills, conditioning, and running to prepare for what was lying ahead. While warming up with my friends, I felt great, talking about homecoming, boys, and a variety of irrelevant events. I felt ready. The odds were in my favor and nobody could stop me.
It was a cold day in November as I scampered out of my Biology class, unsatisfied with the grade that I had received on my exam. I rushed to the basement of my campus’s athletic facility brimming over with frustration and quickly tossed aside my school supplies in exchange for a pair of soccer cleats and goalkeeper gloves. I threw over my grass-stained gray cotton sweatshirt, stepped outside to the bite of an approaching winter and joined my comrades in our warm-up lines. The boys were all laughing and talking about what happened over the weekend as we prepared for another practice. Being surrounded by my teammates made me forget about my worries and allowed me to disappear into the routine of physical activity. My collegiate varsity soccer
We have sympathy for my mom's friend Tammy. She wanted to keep the kitten but, she also had
Were I to name one thing unique about me, it would be that I’m one of the only people I know who can say from experience which is more difficult; writing a personal essay or surviving a life-or-death, take-no-prisoners spy shootout, complete with a crowd of bad guys, laser guns, and of course, a hero and a sidekick. I’m the sidekick.
My mother had quiet a lot of brothers and sisters, there was nine in all.. Mother said most of her brothers and sisters married out of their parents house in Sampson City, moving into one of the houses owned by a man named Mr. Hogan, In these days the houses were called quarters, which consisted of one or two bed rooms and a kitchen all sat in a row. The families living in those little houses worked for Mr. Hogan who was the BOSS MAN. All the men worked at the Turpentine steel, that was owned by Mr. Hogan. They paid no rent and received a very small salary for their labor. Sundays after church was the relaxing time. We would visit with family and friends. In that time we did not own cars in that time, we did not have to go out in shop. The
The flame from Nick's lighter danced in the darkness as he lit his cigarette. I faintly heard an aged man speak from the television "2 found dead in New York apartment..." I turned my attention towards the TV out of curiosity. "Autopsy shows the couple died of starvation, this is now the tenth time we have seen this similar situation..." Nick cleared his throat to speak, a puff of smoke escaped his lips and disappeared into the darkness of the room. I shifted my gaze towards him awaiting his thought. He spoke in a tired voice.
“We don’t have anytime time to waste today guys, get moving!” my mom announced. My brother was coming today and she wanted the house to be spotless. We had just started fall break and I was in the fourth grade. I was playing games and relaxing like any 10 year old would do. My dad was lounging on the couch watching some show, and my siblings were running around. By then I had only 5 siblings, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. We had known for a while that Johnny, age 9 at the time, was coming to live with us, what we didn’t know was that he would bring with him a fish. I was happier than a child opening presents on Christmas. The fish was a beautiful white male betta with long flowing fins. He lived in a small 1 gallon tank with blue pebbles, pointy
When I arrive home, I go into the kitchen and grab a snack. No one was home so I decided to go to sleep. I lay in my bed and try to focus on sleeping. I lay for two, four hours, sleep evades me. I groggily find my way into the bathroom and grab a dixie cup and melatonin to aid me in sleep. I don't remember much about how I got to bed when I wake up, or much about my dream. But I do remember seeing Isac dead in my dream, and the light from my necklace shining through the room. I know something isn’t right, and while I can’t place exactly what it is, I know it’s bad.
A car pulled up in front of us and got a yard waste tub from the backseat, and my mom went out to meet them. My dad told me, “ Go see what it is.” I had a feeling then that they were cats in the tub. Sure enough, when I looked in the tub, five little faces with whiskers were looking up at me with beautiful greenish blue eyes. At that point, I was ecstatic! I couldn’t believe that my parents were getting me a cat! All of the cats were black and white, but one really stood out to me. It was a little kitten that had a black nose and a white tip on the tail. This was the one I knew I was going to
“Ding, ding, ding” the gong rang as the challenger fell to his knees, head limped forwards, looking lifeless in front of the champion. He returned to his corner to leave when his second out of nowhere, came in and slapped him hard on the cheek as the sound resonated across the hushed stadium.
Two and a half years ago i was brought into this world. I couldn’t see or hear for quite a while so I just slept, and slept, and slept. I don’t remember the first day I could see, but i remember the first thing I saw. My mother. She was big and yellow with huge floppy ears I dreamed I would have one day. Her eyes were filled with compassion as she looked at me and my nine other siblings I apparently had. When I looked around at all of my brothers and sisters it was obvious I wasn’t the first awake. Three of my brothers were running around playfully in a huge pen located in the backyard. All three of them were yellow, but not me, I was black. Jet black with not even the slightest bit of variation. I had black fur, black paws, and black eyes.
When the weekend finally arrived, we went down to the animal shelter and asked if they had any kittens. They told us that all the kittens that were there are sick and couldn't be given out. They did say however that they had some adult cats the could be given homes. We looked around and I saw the most amazing cat ever. She was all black with green eyes,
