The first being the Pediculus humanus capitis or more commonly known as head louse which lives on the hair of humans for their entire life other than when they are feeding on the blood through the skin. This sub species is the most common throughout the world and is what most think about when they hear about lice. The other Pediculus humanus humanus, is referred to as body louse lives on the fabric of clothing and tend to stay away from the head. This species is uncommon especially in the United States.
