Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger wrote The Malleus Maleficarum (Hammer of Witches) published December 9, 1484. Kramer included the Papal Bull issued by Pope Innocent VIII on December 5, 1484. A papal bull is an official, formal decree by a sitting Pope, it is called a ‘Bull’ because of the official lead seal, ‘bulla’ that authenticated it. This Bull gave Kramer’s book the authority of Pope Innocent VIII to its readers. Also included in the book are approbations, approvals given by an official group or persons, in the Malleus Maleficarum the approbation came from the Faculty of Theology of the University of Cologne. The Malleus Maleficarum became an official guide for the hunting, trying, and punishing witches through the inquisitorial process.

Trebonianus Gallus was born in Italy in 206 A.D. He became the 36th Emperor of the Roman Empire during the third century. He reigned jointly from 251 A.D. with Hostilianus, then later with Volusianus from A.D. 251 to 253. His reign was short and suffered from a series of disasters. Trebonianus Gallus was not a great leader and was eventually killed by his own soldiers.

Trebonianus Gallus was appointed as the emperor after the previous emperor Decius was killed by the Goths. Gallus was made emperor by his soldiers and his first act as emperor he made a truce with the Goths letting them return home with their plunder and prisoners, agreeing to pay them if they did not attack them again. Gallus then quickly marched back to Rome, hoping to secure his position as emperor by assuring good relations with the senate. After Gallus returned to Rome he appointed Decius’ younger son Hostilianus as Augustus to stand alongside Gallus as his imperial colleague. In order not to aggravate Decius’ widow, Gallus did not elevate his wife, Baebiana, to the rank of Augusta.

Peyote’s scientific name is known as Lophophora williamsii, as Mescaline scientific name is known as to be found in most peyote drugs. Mescaline also gives the peyote drug its effect. When one considers important events in US history, things like the American Revolution, the Westward Expansion, or the Civil Rights Movement come to mind. One in particular that I find compelling, is the creation of the Women Airforce Service Pilots better known as WASPs, during World War II. I find it interesting because prior to this time and after this period, woman had a very limited social status. But for a brief time in the 1940s, women achieved not only job equality but went above and beyond what society expected in many areas. The WASPs were one such group who broke barriers in more ways than one.

Peter was having a bad day fishing, it was hot and he had not called a lot of fish.
