I hope that you are doing well and thank you for agreeing to be my mentor. I am writing in regards to a project I’m doing for my English 2 Honors class. This project is called the Passion Project. For this project, we spent a year learning about a topic that interests us or something that we are passionate about. At the end of the year, we demonstrate the outcome of our project by presenting it to our peers.
I’ve always been passionate about my culture and grown up watching everyone in my family cook amazing food. Therefore, for my passion project, I would like to learn how to cook traditional Bengali food. I believe that learning to cook cultural food will bring me closer to my culture and be of use to me in the future. I would like to
“Matson Navigation Co. spent $14 million to make its diesel-powered ships more environmentally friendly. The Honolulu-based company goes through the Port of Long Beach to bring supplies to Hawaii.” Even though Matson Navigation Co. is trying to erase their environmental footprint many people go out into the world and pollute it, some do not know, do not think about it, or just do not care. If people think or try new ways to make the world a bit cleaner, or just lower the percentage of pollution each year the Earth could become so much nicer and cleaner. To work with energy, there are many ways people can, first they could help make cleaner
College students traditionally show pride towards their respective school. What makes students so enthusiastic for their school? In Laura Randall’s “Things You Only Do in College” and David Berreby’s “It Takes a Tribe” both writers explore college culture but come up with decidedly different results. Randall argues that college students’ traditions are embarrassing to the university, and students should be focusing on schoolwork not traditions; but Berreby suggests traditions are for the pride which students have for their school. In this essay I argue that students are passionate for their school, and the traditions they participate in are for the pride they have for the school. Randall
I see that you are majoring in Behavioral Science. I’m also currently working on my BA in that as well. I hope to one day be able to become a Social Working and work with either troubled youth or substance users. I have seen The Passion of Crist. This is a very good and educational movie as it shows the triumphs that are told in the Bible. I do see how this would lead people to the Lord as they can really grasp the pain and suffering Jesus went through for our sins. This was a very emotional movie and let people see and feel the pain that happened. I think this is a great movie to discuss.
After looking back at all the writing I have accomplished in this class and experiences I have faced in other English classes, I realized how they have affected me as a writer and where I stand as one as of now. The writer I am today has been greatly benefited with years of learning English in school and other literacy sponsors. Throughout the years, I have learned a number of ways to write and I have been positively impacted by these methods. I now know the type of writer that I am and how I write best and in under which conditions. Now, I have my own writing process that most likely differs from my peers.
I have gained a vast amount of knowledge and other skills during my semester in “Writing as an inquiry”. Not only were my writing skills improved, my understanding of rhetoric increased as well. This was done through teacher instruction, class participation, and assignments. Up to this point, I completed four projects in the semester. Each project being very different and improving my writing, rhetoric, communication skills, and testing my creativity.
Four days and one too many cups of coffee later, my mother and I pulled into the roundabout for the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell. I had been invited to attend the 2015 Congress for Future Medical Leaders. After we got comfortable in our seats, I began to get to know those around me. I met some amazing people and we all shared a similar passion for medical science. It took very little time before I found a group of people I felt a strong connection with despite having just met them. There is something magical about sharing future dreams and passions with people who have worked so hard to chase similar goals. This connection was then further strengthened when we listened to some of the most inspiring people I have ever had the pleasure to hear from.
I wanted to be one since I was 5 years old. I saw YouTube videos of it. And I have good balance. I am really good at swimming. I learned to swim at five years old. I love to swim to. I spend more time wet than I do dry. I've been in the water all my life. And I have a passion for the water and surfing. Now you know why I want to be a surfer when I grow up.
Golf is a game of passion, frustration and integrity. Many think that golf is a simple game and they would be right in many ways, but simple and easy are two different things that often get confused. Golf could be considered an art form such as when a painter has to use the correct technique, bushes and paint a golfer has to use the correct technique, clubs and accessories. It is a game that needs constant work you will never master it this frustrates most but is why I have such a passion for the game. There is always room for improvement this is what the famous Bobby Jones was meaning when he said “No-one will ever have golf under his thumb. No round ever will be so good it could not have been better. Perhaps this is why golf is the greatest of games. You are not

The most difficult part of growing up as the older child is having to experience life firsthand. Although my parents were able to guide me through the majority of my life, one aspect that they couldn’t assist me in was my education. On top of school being challenging for both of them, there was also a need for financial aid;, my parents both dropped out 10th grade in order to help out the family by working. This caused them to lose focus on their education, resulting in the incompletion of high school, let alone college. This affected me because throughout my entire education, there was no one to guide me through school or help me with my school work. Since my parents weren’t formally educated, I was forced to teach myself and use other resources,
Responsibility and passion are the first words that come to mind when I define who I am. Growing up in a family where academic excellence was not always the top priority, it was ultimately my own dreams and aspirations that led me to Miss Porter’s School and all of the academic endeavors I have achieved to date. However, in order to get to the place I am today, I had to make familial sacrifices meaning that I missed parties and sometimes even funerals for the sake of my studies to ensure a successful future. Thus at an early age I developed a strong sense of responsibility. An understanding that if I wanted greatness not only was it my responsibility to seek it, but it was also my responsibility to be accountable for the things I missed out on and to understand that
My great grandma died of brain cancer. My grandmother Christine lived an extraordinary 98 years. Even after she was diagnosed with cancer, she refused to let it consume her daily life. The memories of Grandma Christine’s nurses with their generosity towards all the people in my family and their infinite capacity to love filled my life with light. Gandhi once stated, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world”,(Goodreads) and these nurses embodied this for me. This experience guided me to pursue a career in nursing because I desire to give everyone the same treatment and care as the nurses who cared for my grandmother. I was able to recognize that my true passion is to help and care for others. I believe I have found my passion in nursing which will drive me to be successful, but I still need to discover what type of nurse I want to be.
Writing is essential to everyone ranging from grade-schoolers to adults. We use what we learn throughout our whole lives, and gradually improve along the way. Now looking back at and going through previous assignments I can surely reflect. These writings include our letters to the class of 2016, personal narratives, informative composition, process analysis composition, and several smaller pieces of writing.
I never knew it was so easy to learn piano online until I got to a great Website that set me in the right direction. I had always had an ear for Music but I never got around training myself to play any instrument. My passion for the Piano began when I was 6 years old. My Mom was a Music Teacher who played virtually all the Musical instruments. She put my siblings through the rudiments but felt I was too young to begin my lessons. The combination of College, life events and other issues made me to shelve my Piano interests. I had to focus on the things that were important to me at the time.
Without passions the world would not be going anywhere and there would be no advancements. People would not have the desire to do anything. We possibly could still be in the stone age, without any of the things we have today. These passions help humans to want to have great achievements and breakthroughs. They give us motivation to keep pushing and working. I would not be the person I am today, if I had no passions. My passions that keep me going in life are hockey, my career. and my family
