Starting my second semester in Modern I, I was really excited to see what new things I would learn and what new goals I needed to set for myself. I was definitely ready to push myself and work even harder than the semester before. During my second semester I set only two new goals and kept one from first semester. The two goals that I set included, getting stronger in my inversions and watching the alignment of my hip. The goal that I kept from last semester was making sure that I was coming to class alert and ready to work. After second semester mid-term, I started to work a lot on building strength in my arms. During class, Professor Hapke would always come over to me and fix my arms while I was in downward dog. To make sure I was gliding …show more content…
I started going to the gym and also using a Theraband to build up the muscles in my arms that I did not have. After going to the gym for only two weeks, I began to notice a huge difference. Not only in my inversions, but also in Chaturanga and downward dog. In class, in was very rewarding to hear from Professor Hapke how well she thought that I have been working on getting stronger in my arms. Working on my hip alignment was one of the major challenges that I faced in both Modern and Ballet last year. I worked extra hours outside of class to improve this and it is still something I am trying to work towards. I felt that I needed extra help after mid-term so that I could decrease the use of my hip flexors. As the end of the year approached, I realized that this is something that definitely has improved. I can tell in class that I am using my lower abs and pulling up in my center more than what I was before. Even though I can tell a difference now, I believe that this is something that I will keep working towards to help the alignment issue that is causing hip hiking. The one goal that I stuck with second semester was to come to class
No one has really did through what i have been through other if they did they had a different solution but it fits for me because it was a big obstacle in my life.I wanted to have a better life for me and my brother I was tired of taking care of everybody but myself the definition in the dictionary is a thing that blocks one's way or prevents or hinders progress. And it was true i was letting everybody else hold me down i was no longer a innocent little girl i felt like i was a mom i took care of so many kids when i was a kid myself. It was a huge obstacle in my life letting go of the hurt i felt because i didn’t have a childhood i was suppose to have but i learned to forgive those mistakes that i had to suffer from and now i can move on with
“We are not what we've done. We are what we’ve overcome.” This set of wise words implies that our true identity is not defined by the achievements we have made, but rather by the obstacles that we manage to overcome and what we learn from them. Like most others, I faced some struggles growing up, and they have played a major role in who I am today. While, some of these struggles consisted of physical barriers in the way of my education, others were economic struggles, later serving as my motivational drive for doing well in school. Each of these has taught me valuable lessons and are the reasons why I am the person who I am today.
I never wanted to admit it before, but my biggest obstacle is to financial freedom is not the economy or inflation. The biggest obstacle to overcome financial burdens is myself. While reading through articles and starting a budget worksheet I found my spending is out of control. I need to take control of my future and stick to it.
Ever since I was young I have always had an aptitude to flexibility, but never quite the level I strived for. This was partly do to my involvement in gymnastics as a girl and, later on, partly due to my need to stretch often to help my Fibromyalgia. Achieving a higher level of flexibility has always been a goal in my mind, kept on the back burner for when the time was right, and that time came when this assignment was given to the class. It was then, at the beginning of the semester, that I decided to improve my flexibility to the point where I could do a full split. Along with that goal, I chose to address my lack of upper-body strength as well. Specifically, I wanted to transition from my starting point of being able to do twenty-five knee push-ups to a minimum of ten full, proper push-ups. These goals were perfect for the project because I wanted to address them anyway, and so this opportunity brought an alignment that pushed aside any remaining excuses I could muster.
THE well one more obstacle i became over was to become good at wrestling and i actually started practicing and my coach believe me and one my last tournament i got second place in my tournament and they were all proud of me How i overcame my obstacles was i just kept doing what i needed to do to become successful and i didn't do it by myself i had many people to help me friends family and sometimes people that i don't know and i just never stopped when i was tired or was done with it but people showed me that never give up on your dreams and i just thought of what the prize at the end of the road would give me and it gave me stuff that will help me in life Well one obstacle was that i had to bring up some of my grades and if any of my friends
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a nurse. However, my strong repugnance of blood and needles made a nursing career highly implausible. I had never set any logical career goals. Even if I had, the pursuit of any goal would have had to be put on hold, as I became pregnant at the age of seventeen. When my children were still very young, I thought about pursuing a teaching career and decided to enroll in college; however, my college days were short lived, as I was a single mother of three sons. My middle son faced learning challenges and I felt the need (and desire) to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom and focus on the needs of my children. When they got a little bit older and started
Initially, I had only a superficial understanding, solely thinking it had to do with comprehending the basics of movement and maybe the manipulation of that movement. Now, I understand there is a deeper science behind it all and I am eager learn more and explore that science. Since I’ve changed the outlook of my future, I have had more time to concentrate on my personal health as well as helping others. Using a combination of prior knowledge and knowledge I continue to attain in my current classes, my peers and I have been collaborating to develop personalized workouts and have been evaluating progress. I thoroughly enjoy seeing how concepts learned inside the classroom are applicable to a physical
My family makes a sufficient amount of money to take care of home necessities, but we only make so much money that we consider higher education a luxury. In addition, growing up without my father I have had to overcome many challenges including a lack of confidence and self love. Over time I have overcome these obstacles and I am proud of the young man I am today. I still find that I am my biggest critic, but instead of getting down on myself, I push myself harder to grow. Making mistakes is something I have accepted and have come to understand in order to get closer to my objectives both onstage and off. Everyday is an opportunity to learn, I make the choice challenging myself and grow as a student and as an artist. My background of growing
Going through your life without an obstacle or setback is unrealistic. You are bound to have them no matter what you do. Some obstacles are harder to get over than others and some are minor and easy to deal with. All of them though, are very important to your life and shape you into the person you are now or will become. Everyone deals and manages with them differently, but it’s how it affects you after that is important. Did you come away from it stronger or weaker? Did you learn a lesson or not? Each obstacle you overcome should hopefully make you a better person in some way, shape, or form. I have had many personally, but one that has impacted me the most had just recently taken place in my life.
In my life I have faced many obstacles. There has been times when I was unsure about how I was going to handle a situation and how I was going to move on from it. Although some obstacles may be abominable, I am a firm believer of "everything happens for a reason". If God brings you to it, he will help you get through it.
An obstacle is something that blocks one’s way or prevents or hinders progress. Many individuals have faced some type of challenge in their life, which has hindered them from progressing forward. Unfortunately, we can’t prevent these obstacles, for there a part of our everyday lives. But, what we can do is choose how we react to them. Not all obstacles are unpleasant. They force us to dig deep and find strength, and courage in ourselves. An obstacle that I have faced in my life that I am proud to say I have overcome, was my father being deployed several times in my youth. My father is an E8 (MSG) for the U.S Army. He has been serving his country for 19 years. During this time, I had to face multiple obstacles such as, maturing quickly, and
Overcoming an obstacle. That is a very powerful phrase. People are faced with many many obstacles everyday of their lives. There are many different ways to deal with the obstacles that come into your life. A person must have a strong mind to process the problems. Not everyone can handle what hand life deals them.
As Voltaire once said “ No problem can stand the assault of sustained thinking” and with the help of Google, I am pretty positive I have at least a little understanding of what this quote’s purpose is. As we live our lives, we are faced with obstacles to overcome to accomplish certain goals we are after. When these obstacles or problems arise we have to stop and think about how to solve the issue to be able to move past the issue, and continue to work towards our goals.
Overcoming anything can seem out of one’s reach. I have faced many obstacles in my life. The challenge I would like to share is obtaining a college education while having a family. Being a strong willed person has helped me to make a way for school. It became an obstacle when, I graduate high school. I had been put on homebound due to; I had my first child just months before I graduated.
There are many things in this class that I was taught that I wasn’t aware of before, but one of the most important things that I learned that really stuck with me was making sure to strengthen, and stretch opposing muscle groups. A lot of times when I used to work out, I would just work out whatever muscles group that I felt like doing that day, I never knew the benefits or how important it is to work out opposing muscles. Stronger muscles usually keep getting stronger while opposing, weaker muscles lengthen which creates an imbalance. I learned that it’s important to not just focus on convenience or popular muscles, and make sure that I am focusing on the opposing muscles as well.
