Online dangers
"give me your phone"
"No! Why? I need it for my homework!"
"Do you really?"
"YES"
These days I understand that we use the internet for everything. Students use it for homework, projects, and more. And we also need it for everyday use like the weather and news. In today's days, you can find anything on the internet but the real question is is this a good thing?
Many things can happen on the internet even though you are looking at a screen. You never know what can happen on the internet and if it's really safe. I believe we should have limited access online.
There are online studies that say if a teen is online for a long time that is a sign of depression or social anxiety. Spending lots of time online may be a sign of depression teen block himself from the outside world and enter a totally different world online. This can be good or bad I think it bad because you aren't interacting with the outside world. Once you grow up we will have to interact with the outside world a lot , looking for a job, going shopping simple things like that and being online doesn't help. Being online doesn't help with depression ether if you are depressed you should get help.Teens might get bullied in school and feel more confident being behind a screen but when it comes to talking to someone face to face can get them nervous and give them anxiety. And because of that, they might stay the distance from their family and peers. ¨They might be teased, bullied, and avoid school
The internet and the invention of improved technology are growing rapidly. It allowed us to do complex jobs without having to spend as long as we had to by doing it manually. The internet is a vast source, it involves many people working together to create an opportunity for everyone to get easy and fast information without having to pick up a book. With a click of a mouse button we have tons of information right in front of our computer screen. So is having easy access and having improved technology doing us harm or being beneficial to us?
I think the government should put restrictions on websites for certain ages. They should restrict sites because many things on the internet is not for
To begin with, online time for teens should be limited except for school work. Firstly the article, "Teens and the Internet: How Much is too Much? by Stephanie Newman P.H.D.", says, "In addition to a decline in school performance and grades, sign might include repeated surfing or e-mailing during class time, difficulty concentrating and falling asleep in class,
In recent years, advances in technology have exploded. Almost every child has a tablet, middle schools are giving students laptops, and nearly every adult on the planet can be seen walking around with a smartphone. The internet is a huge part of today’s society. Information from all over the globe is just a few clicks away, but could that be a bad thing? Nicholas Carr thinks that the internet is making society stupid in his article “Is Google Making Us Stupid,” Steven Johnson says that the internet is a great thing in his essay “Everything Bad is Good for Us,” and Christine Rosen seems to think that everything digital is evil in her work “People on the Screen.” When used correctly, the internet has an overwhelmingly positive effect on the growth of the human brain. Technology provides people with more opportunities to read, a way for children to be stimulated, and simpler communication.
Growing up as a child I've always used the internet as a source to chat with my friends and family online, to do my homework, and play games. I’ve been on the internet since I was 10 years old. It’s a reliable source I always go to answer my questions. Our society now relies on the internet to answer all of our questions on a daily basis. In Nicholas Carr article his beliefs are that the internet has changed our society in many ways and it has created a negative effect to our way of thinking. However, the internet has provided a positive interaction to college students knowledge, such as YouTube videos offering tips on how to fix things, learn different languages, and how to solve classroom related problems.
Though a wonderful educational and social resource, the internet poses a multitude of dangers of its own. In this day and age most homes have the internet and even cafes and shops offer wifi services so people can access the internet from pretty much anywhere and with games consoles, mobile phones and a multitude of other devices having internet capabilities you do not need to own a computer or laptop now to be able to access the world wide web. Unfortunately peadophiles and other dangerous and unsavoury characters have cottoned on to the power of the internet and use it for their own vile ends.
As much as the people criticize the internet there are some importance to it being here today. The internet allows people to stay in contact with others, social media is one of the distractions that the internet provides us with but it does help keep in touch with family members we don’t see every day. It allows us to know what’s happening in the world, for example the news about the chemical bombs that were hit in Syria. The internet provides information to the brain at a faster rate than what a newspaper would do.
After reading the online article “10 Great Things Teens Learn While “Playing” Online” by Christy Matte and the magazine article “ Teens and the Internet: How Much is Too Much? “ by Stephanie Newman , it is clear that teens should be limited to the amount of time used online daily. The use of the internet may be beneficial; it all depends on how the student uses it. Teens should not be able to use a significant about of time online because it affects their social isolation, physical and also mental health.
My generation uses the internet every day either to find information or for recreation. However, the internet is a double edged sword. It can be used for good where you can learn a lot of new stuff or it can be used for bad. For instance, one can just play and waste his/her time. I, myself, use this technology to improve my senses and I also believe that everyone does but we just don’t notice.
People need the Internet to survive. If we did not have the internet we would be no where. People need the internet to look up facts and things that happen in the pass. Parents need the internet because they can look up jobs or school. The Internet makes kid stay on their phone all day.
