When reading the book Practices of Looking by Marita Sturken and Lisa Cartwright, I noticed some images that really stuck out to me, but one that stuck out to me the most was the one of O.J. Simpson. At first glance of this image, I simply noticed O.J. Simpson because I am familiar with who he is. Then, when I got to the reading and read the part about him, I was so far interested in what I was reading. When they said “Critics charged that T ime was following the historical convention of using darker skin tones to connote evil and to imply guilt.” (page 24), I felt really unhappy.
