Nordstrom has famously been known for its lean retail prices and its tight inventory. Nordstrom uses demand forecasting to minimize leftover inventory. I am very interested in becoming a part of Nordstrom’s team through its retail management internship. As I finish my junior year at the College of William and Mary, I am proud of my academic work, my positions in diverse organizations on campus, and my overall work experience. I believe that these experiences, paired with my creativity and work ethic, make me a great candidate for Nordstrom. This summer I will be able to contribute to Nordstrom’s commitment to providing customers with the best shopping experience.

Nordstrom is a publicly traded corporation specializing in the merchandise of apparel, shoes, accessories, and cosmetics for women, men, and children. The company operates through two segments: Retail and Credit. The Retail segment includes 117 “Nordstrom” branded full-line stores, Nordstrom.com, 167 off-price Nordstrom Rack stores, Nordstromrack.com and HauteLook, and other retail channels including five Trunk Club showrooms and TrunkClub.com, two Jeffrey boutiques and one clearance store that operates under the name “Last Chance.” The Credit segment comprises of its own national banking segment that offers Nordstrom VISA cards, a VISA debit card and a private label card that can only be used in its Nordstrom stores and website.

During the 1600s England was sending many adventurers and colonists to the new world to settle it. One famous colonist was John Smith. Smith was a leader in the Jamestown settlement in 1606, where he encountered natives, and survived being captured and imprisoned by them. Also notable among the famous colonists was William Bradford. Bradford led the Plymouth colony, which was founded in 1620. The colony survived major sickness and lack of food, but the natives were sympathetic with the Plymouth colonist, and taught them how to live off the land. Both Smith and Bradford wrote of their adventures in the new world, but they both had very different reasons for being there, which is evident in their writings

Prior to my participation in the Kroger Delta Division Summer Internship Program I had very little knowledge of the grocery store or retail business environment and all of the moving parts that are necessary to produce a successful company. In addition, I had very little applicable work experience due to being a student- athlete competing in a year round sport. Participating in this internship allowed me to get an up close look at what the retail business entails and how to execute company, division, and department goals and sales plans to over 100 divisional stores and ensure that all of the store employees understand the scope of the business. By completing this internship, I now have a greater understanding and appreciation for the retail environment and can more effectively apply the knowledge I have gained in my undergraduate studies to a real work environment and my graduate level studies.

Better Online Presence: Nordstrom can do a better job by reaching its target audience by creating a better online presence. Nordstrom can use online as a way to communication better to customers via their website. Nordstrom can do this by drawing attention and highlighting their “Free Shipping, Free Returns” policy as well as their shopping loyalty program. By displaying more information about the company’s private label credit and debit cards can encourage customers to shop at Nordstrom to gain reward.

Executive Summary The research aims to investigate the relationship between how Nordstrom has adopted to improve its customer centricity by the SERVQUAL and the 3Ps analysis. SERVQUAL was developed by A. Parasuranman, Leonard Berry and Valerie A Zeithaml in the 1980s. According to Parasuraman, Berry, & Zeithaml, SERVQUAL is a multi-item scale developed to assess customer perceptions of service quality in service and retail businesses (Parasuranman, Berry, & Zeithaml, 1988). The five dimensions of SERVQUAL, which are tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy.

Over the weekend, I went to Nordstrom to buy a top just to have. I usually go to Nordstrom if not every week at least every other week. I have become very fond of the people that work there; Nordstrom is the only store that I have continuously shopped at since I was an infant. Most of the time there are usually new people working the section where I shop at often and I casually observe their ways of interaction with customers especially me.

This internship was one that really opened my eye and to getting me out of South Carolina for a year. It’s something that I would be really scared about, but I also would be really excited to see what Chicago, Illinois has in store for me. The LifeStyle Physical Therapy and Balance Center is located in Chicago, Illinois on 1330 Lincoln North Avenue. This place is within walking distance to all major public transportations. Within this intern, I would have major responsibilities such as listed on the website: observing patients, secure patients into and out of therapy equipment, transport patients to and from treatments, record treatment given and equipment used, clean and organize work area, perform clerical duties, maintain working equipment

It was a typical Wednesday morning. I was getting ready for school and I was going to be wearing my very authentic shoes that I bought from Nordstrom. Today was going to be an amazing day because my family said we could go hiking after school. So I got ready and head downstairs to eat my breakfast. Today I had pancakes with some strawberries on the side. I ate my breakfast with delicacy because I just got my braces but I was so hungry, I basically devoured all my food. Then the time 7:45 am beeped on my watch which meant it was time for me to head to school. I picked up my backpack and catched the bus.
