While on the bus the week of 08/17/15, Mattie bumped her head while sitting in her sister’s lap. The child had a gash in her head that bled all over the bus. In Herodotus’ The History and in the Mike Webster Sports Injury Series articles, both Croesus and Mike Webster are significant examples of being a “horrible warning”. The characters become fixed on something they believed defined them; for Croesus it was being king and for Mike Webster it was being the face of football. The obsession of keeping what they believed defined them, ruined both of their lives. They kept on looking at what they possessed in material goods and not on the important things, such as health or family until it was too late.
"The room goes suddenly white, as if struck by lightening. I stare down, amazed. He has torn off my arm at the shoulder! Blood pours down where the limb was." (p172)
Meanwhile, elsewhere in Habersham County, Tom was feeling slightly nervous as he exited the staff lounge and entered the hustle and bustle of County Hospital’s ER to begin his first shift as an RN. The first few hours of his shift passed slowly as Tom mostly checked vital signs and listened to patients complain about various aches, pains, coughs, and sniffles. He realized that the attending physician, Dr. Greene, who was rather “old school” in general about how he interacted with nursing staff, wanted to start him out slowly. Tom knew, though, that the paramedics could bring in a trauma patient at any time.

As both an Athlete and a sports fan the ACL injury is devastating. I’m a huge fan of the NBA, Go Cavs! Growing up watching games I have seen many players injury themselves, for example, Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose was a fantastic player in Chicago; it was so great to see the Bulls win again. Then the injuries came and tore apart the Bulls chances to win. ACL injuries to any person can be disappointing because of the extensive recovery time, but an ACL injury to a sport's star is also disappointing to all their fans watching. The worry as you watch your favorite player lay on the court in agonizing pain. The nervousness for your favorite team knows that the most valuable player, for that team, is out for the rest of the season. The despair of
The purpose of the study is to bring awareness about the seriousness of concussion injuries. Examining the severity of high school athletes who suffered sport related concussions is critical to determine the short term/long term damaging effects. When athletes’ concussions go undiagnosed, the risk of further damages increases since they are not fully recovered. This means that athletes will return to participation unknowingly since the injury goes undetected. In addition, when parents, coaches, doctors, and athletes are aware about the dangers of concussions, they can have a conversation and discuss the best options to ensure the safety of athletes. This means that injured athletes will not be allowed to participate under any
When I arrive to the Trauma ICU 4800 unit, all of the nurses were already being followed by other students. The patient had received a creatinine blood test. The patient had a dialysis machine next to them, which was used to function as the kidneys since the patient’s kidneys were not functioning correctly. Our jails and prisons are overcrowded and law enforcement budgets are challenged every year trying to keep up with the enforcement of marijuana use, smuggling and production in addition to its other obligations.
According to the globalist.com, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget states that the person reading this right now has a life worth roughly seven to eight million dollars. Other agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency, have the number set at 9.1 million. It’s interesting to think on this number considering that some people will never come close to making or seeing this amount of money. Although, at the same time, studies have conducted that you as a human being are worth that much. So if we are worth so much, for example nine million, then an estimated 13,032,000,000 dollars in human lives have been wasted since 1976. This is the year that the death penalty was reinstated. This was a wrong move on the government’s part
