While on the bus the week of 08/17/15, Mattie bumped her head while sitting in her sister’s lap. The child had a gash in her head that bled all over the bus. Mattie may have needed stitches but she was not taken for medical treatment. The bus driver stopped the bleeding and bandaged the child’s wounds; the driver also told Mr. Cleveland what had happened and suggested she be taken to see a doctor. It was rumored that Mr. Cleveland did not take Mattie for treatment and made statements that she would be okay. Deputy Wells and I responded to a home where a 16 year old girl allegedly cut herself. When we arrived to the scene Deputy Wells’ zone partner was already on location. We entered the home together and came into contact with the kid’s mother who stated that she saw the cuts on her daughter’s wrist and determined that she had been cutting herself with a razor. When we enter the girls’ room, she was being comforted by another teenage girl, who we found out was her close friend. The victim was crying and appeared to be extremely emotional. On this date and time this caseworker met with Latonya Myles for a follow up visit. At this time this caseworker observed Jacoreyn to be clean. healthy and adequately dressed. The marking cause by the fall on Jacoreyn forehead had fully healed and his skin has return to its normal color. The caseworker observed Jacoreyn walking and playing with his tablet along with his brother Jaylin. Ms. Myles reported that Jacoreyn head has heal well and she has not had any problems. Ms. Myles reported no concerns. Ms. Myles gave the caseworker permission to speak with her son Jaylin.
A 911 call was placed shortly after midnight. When paramedics arrived, Tammy was unresponsive. Paul and Karla claimed they had fallen asleep downstairs in the rec room and were awakened by the sounds of Karla’s 15 year old sister Tammy “choking”. Tammy was taken in an ambulance to the hospital, and Karla’s parents rode along with her. IRTC spoke with CPSS and assigned CPS, Angelina Roberts, and it was agreed upon that additional information is required prior to a determination being made regarding a possible IRT enhancement. CPS expressed that she spoke with the child’s father who said he had x-rays of the injury, but he was waiting to see if the injury would heal itself. CPS stated that there is a language barrier with the family and more information is needed pertaining to exactly what the child is diagnosed with. Upon arrival I met with the victim, Isaac Higgins. Isaac had just been discharged from HRMC for a "Flash Burn" that affected his eyes. Isaac and his mother, Deanna Ahern, advised that while walking north out of the hospital a white truck "squealing its tires” turned the wrong direction at a fast speed and almost hit them.
