The Taylor family has been working with the Department of Children and Families for a period of time. The Department made a referral though Cambridge Hospital in July 2016 for a Neuropsychological Evaluation and Rachael will have testing done December 13, 2016. The testing will allow us to better provide services to Rachael and her children. Rachael has significant intellectual disabilities as well as several mental health diagnoses. I have completed an application for services through the Department of Mental Health (DMH) which will provide additional in home services and supports to Rachael. Receiving assistance in the forms of housing, food stamps, child care, WIC, etc. D.H.H.S changed my life and the course of my family's life. The opportunities presented themselves as I grabbed at them ambitiously. Firstly therapy, family workshops were a priority. Therapist’s recommended assessments and evaluations revealed mild Dyslexia, Anxiety, and A.D.H.D. The labels were intimidating until I researched the diagnosis. She requested for assistance to address her concerns of childcare for Myan, housing, early intervention, and mental health services to address her bi-polar and depression to address problems within her family.
