Sauk Valley Community College should have a track and field team for several reasons. SVCC use to have a track and field team. Sadly, they dropped it in the nineteen seventies probably because of the expenses. Track and field is a very popular sport that many students might want to take part in middle and high school, or even at college level. Track isn’t a very expensive sport. It is one of the cheapest sports to participate in. Track and field is also very popular sport in colleges in the two hour radius from Sauk Valley Community College. Bringing track and field to Sauk will bring about 40-50 new students each year. Also, this will make Sauk become a better choice of colleges in the area, because of the distance.

It's May of my senior year and part of our High School and Beyond Plan is to participate in a weeklong job shadow in a job field that suits our interests. Originally agriculture was the path I had chosen. However, I had decided to select a job shadow in the healthcare field. You see, in November of my senior year, my great-grandmother passed away. Tragically, she had fallen outside and was not found until later in the evening. The ambulance was called and I watched my parents, neighbor & teacher rush to the scene and attempt to save her life. As dramatic as this might sound it was the reality

Jumpstart Academy is a program designed to keep children active and healthy, while providing them with the necessary fundamental movement skills needed to excel in sports and games. I was delighted with my involvement in this program as it was very much exciting and exhilarating to see the younger generation evolve as not only athletes but also as members of the community. My goal within the program was to provide the youth with opportunities to achieve success through physical literacy. On a weekly basis, we would start off the day with a warmup activity to ensure the body and mind is prepared for the upcoming exercises. Each week was divergent from the previous one as there was a new fundamental skill to focus on. For example, week 2 would

The one thing that was the noticeable is although that there are things available they are not very known or easy to find. Unless you are really searching for something it isn’t very readily available to the public. I think the one that I found that has the most public knowledge about is the North Dakota Special Olympics, but even with that there wasn’t a ton of information. There were plenty of other small programs and events that were out there but once again none of them provided many details on how to get involved or what it was really
