I’ve participated in 3 sports teams since freshman year. I tried out for and joined Cross-Country in August of 2015 and was put on the Freshman-Sophomore team. This year I made it to the 2016 IHSA 2A Cross Country Sectional Champions. I tried out for and joined the women’s basketball team in October of 2015 and this year I was nominated for and became captain of the Junior Varsity team. I tried out for and joined Track & Field in March of 2015 and I have been on the Varsity team since freshman year. I participate in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, low and high hurdles, long jump, triple jump, and shot put. I made it to the 2017 Indoor City Championships for long and triple jump. I am in Key Club, African-Culture and Dance, Recycling Club, Science Olympiad, and Latin Honor Society. I have recorded 161 service learning hours from volunteering at the Swedish Covenant Hospital, the Chicago Public Library, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and …show more content…
Adults and peers have described me as dependable, fair, honest, trustworthy, intelligent, empathetic, respectful, and friendly and I do my best to live by these characteristics. One of my main mottos is to treat others the way you want to be treated. I am by no means a perfect person and I try to accept help and criticism whenever it is offered in an effort to keep improving upon my character. I am a reliable student, sister, daughter, and friend. I believe I would learn a lot from being a member of this program because being surrounded by peers with similar moral and academic character would allow me to do even more to make my community a better place. This would be a perfect opportunity to benefit from any experiences this program has to offer me and make a positive impact on my school and
I’m seventeen years old and i’m a senior attending Weslaco East High School. Some interests i love doing is playing sports. Growing up I came from a very outgoing family, we usually played outside or went camping.
My life is centered around church, sports, and family. I am a hardworking, motivating, caring person. While at Forbush I attend FCA (fellowship of Christian athletes) twice a week, am an active member of HOSA(health occupation students of America), and play or manage many sports. I kept on the A/B honor roll all through middle and high school. I have been the HOSA historian my junior and senior year. My junior and senior year I was one of two head student athletic trainer for football, soccer, wrestling, and basketball. I love being involved in the community and helping out whenever I can. After high school, I plan to attend Catawba College and major in athletic training. To help with this, I went to athletic training camp two years at Greensboro
At first I thought that it was only a program that would tour colleges but the presentations given have explained it in much further detail and has drawn me in. I feel that this program will aid me in achieving my goals by strengthening my relationship with GOD, giving me the opportunity to learn from others - both peers and elders- about life and education and how to balance it all, showing me that there are more choices in colleges other than the major and predominantly white universities, and because it will allow for myself and others hands on experience with our desired careers. I do understand that will all these benefits that I also need to give back to the program and I will do so by ; completing all given assignments for both Campus Connection and school; staying out of any and all trouble; showing up for every event dressed appropriately; and by following all said and unsaid rules associated with the
In my CEPD 3200: Skills and Ethics in Human Services course, I had to complete three hours of service learning in a facility of my choice. For my Service Learning Project, I volunteered at Southern Hills Christian Church, a local church that my family attends. Southern Hills Christian Church has a church service for children in Kindergarten-3rd grade called “All Stars”, which is where I completed my service learning hours. I chose to complete my hours at the church in the children’s department because I have an interest in wanting to work with children as a career. Also, I am an active volunteer at my church, so I did not need to go through any background checks, paperwork, etc. The following is what I did while completing my service learning hours, what I learned, and how I can apply this into the real world.
Thank you for reaching out to me. I'm highly interested in being apart of your team in not just being a better Athlete, but a better person as well. I’m a very competitive person. I train for what i know i’m capable of doing even if it means practicing till midnight .I try to stand out and lead the team believing some obstacles were meant to be in your way. I’m currently working on my ACT score because being below Average does not satisfy me. It doesn’t define who i am, and what my tittle represent. I’m honestly proud to say I’ve came a long way. From running 15sec. in the 100meters to now sprinting a 12.3.,From being TSAA state qualifier ,from my relay being .10 of a second away from making it to state. From having 2 school record along
The program would unquestionably help me advance my educational career. It would help me explore a different field of science and give me the knowledge necessary
However, I do have useful qualities for your program. I am a very hard worker and I am willing to learn and try hard. I plan to stay invested in the goals and ideals of this program, assuming I am allowed to take part in it, even after I finish it. I thrive on responsibility and human contact. However, I enjoy spending time alone and reading. I do not like to drink or take drugs, so I can cope with restrictions of that kind easily. I also can tolerate heat without many problems. I am also well organised and I believe I am pretty empathic. My friends feel comfortable telling me their problems. My school stresses working in teams and thus I am able to cooperate with others and deal with differences in working
One of my goals if I am part of this prominent program is to make sure the kids that come from grade 8 to grade 9 and/or the kids who join in the middle of their high school career, to not feel that way. I will make sure I approach them myself and talk to them and make them
Being able to become a part of this program would be such an honor to me, i've heard and seen many great things that students in Leadership Hot Springs have done for our community and what the program has done for them. Were I given the opportunity to become a member of the program I feel I could put the leadership skills I have to a good use in helping our community
I have not done many school related extra-curricular activities in junior high until now. Since grade six I have been in the Me to We Club. I was not in the Me to We Club in grade eight, but I am now. I have been in volleyball, soccer and cross country this year. I have done track and field through grade six to eight.
I have successfully completed over 100 hours community service at my High School and have taken some AP classes involving language arts, foreign language, and physical science. I was in Wrestling for 2 years one of which I was in Varsity. I also had received a letterman for my great effort in the sport in my 2nd year. I believe I can make a difference for me and my colleagues to survive in the modern world. I can expect that I may or may not be accepted to this association but I hope you can take into consideration that I may be a worthy individual to partake in this community. In my past years of being a teenager, I have seen many of my fellow students become successful. That had changed my perspective of how much I wanted to see that I could show my parents that I was able to care for myself and my own. When I was only a mere teenager my father would give me a talk about how important education is whenever he caught a glimpse at a homeless person. I always thought of it as a way of scaring me into doing well in school, in other words my father was just trying to help me do well in school using his tactic of
My school is full of talented, diligent, intelligent individuals. My school offers all students opportunities associate with many activities. I am a part of the marching band, concert band,Student Ambassadors, Activities Planning Board, fashion club, former member of the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and recently invited to become a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. Being so involved, I am able to gain knowledge on what our school needs to do to provide every child with an exceptional high school experience. It would be an exceptional experience to be able to work in teams with other young adults and be able to brainstorm ideas and to give better opportunities for my peers, dealing with college and other important
I’m interested in participating in this program because of many reasons. I always find myself volunteering at places that aren’t in my community and I would like to volunteer more in my own community, where I live. I feel as though my help can be used in a positive, impactful way. I have worked with kids before and I feel as though I can be a positive role model and set an example for these kids to look up too. I’m also very interested in computers. I have already learned how to use a program called storyboard my first day on the job. We are working on a storyboard project that is going to help us find our own identity and figure out who I truly am. I like to use my summers for a positive and impactful way for myself and my community. There
I would say that I have about 10 service hours right now. I remember it being said that families we adopted for Christmas counted as five. If this is incorrect, I have only five service hours from a food, clothing, and toy giveaway that I did at my church during December, my group being some of my fellow church members. Furthermore, I do need to begin developing my actual service project. I understand that I can’t fully be a leader when it comes to serving the community if I don’t actually start a service project on my own. The main two factors that are limiting me right now from doing more service hours and creating a service project is debate and ACT prep class. The classes and the debate tournaments fall on weekends. Weekends are
Hello! To begin with, I am Lizbeth Arias, a sophomore in you first period English class. I am 15 years old, being the youngest of 4. I have 2 older sisters and an older brother. All three of my siblings are attending a university. Two of them are studying for their bachelor's degree and my oldest sister has begun her master's degree. In total we are a family of six, including my parents. Being a student athlete is important to me, for it allows me to be involved with my school. Participating in extracurricular activities while keeping my grades up is something I want to accomplish. Since I love sports, I decided to join every season.
