The direction I went for this assignment might have been drastically different than others in class. I think my approach started out with a set literacy sponsor but then changed as I was writing because I realized that I don’t have one set sponsor. I know that you have many sponsors throughout your life time and they influence you in vast ways. In my opinion, it’s not just one set sponsor, it’s a starting point that spreads into other parts which grow and grow developing your literacy. I am aware that several people have a set sponsor that influenced them the most and changed their literacy in drastic ways. Correspondingly, there are people who do not have a set sponsor so that is why I believe a web would best describe their literacy sponsor. This is hard to pitch because almost everyone has a literacy sponsor that impacted them differently from the rest. As I was writing this I realized that I do not have an amazing, life changing sponsor. No one influenced me in an impactful way, there was always variables and mainly myself who contributed to my literacy.

Showing how literacy is more than just writing for school or being pressured in school and how you still procrastinate. Lamott used to write food reviews and the would struggle writing them at times, saying “It’s over, I’d think, calmly. I’m not going to be able to get the magic to work this time.” (pg854 para 3). This shows that even as advanced and growing writers we still struggle and have difficult time writing drafts. Writing drafts before you even know what you’re going to say so you just hope for the best. Lamott tells her story of experiencing the struggles of writing, this helps people feel more comfortable with their own writing.
