The there are three principle activities that take up my time outside of the classroom: taking part in my school’s DECA chapter, sitting as an elected member on my ridings local conservative riding board, but taking the time to participate and contribute in the Model United Nations community has been my most important experience. DECA has been an interesting experience for me, I’ve been participating in the club ever since I first shuffled into one of the meeting as a fresh faced ninth grader. I was going out my comfort zone, since business wasn’t my forte, but DECA has really turned into a formative experience for me. I learned a lot about the concepts of a subject I didn’t think I would be interested in, and I made friendships in the club – it taught me lesson about stepping out of the boundaries I set for myself to gain the rewards couldn’t, or didn’t want to, see then. Serving on my local conservative EDA has given me a chance to gave back to the community I live in. The job of the board I was elected to is to assist the sitting MP with manage the fundraising and membership needs so he can focus on the more important aspects of his work. It’s given me the opportunity to deal with real life issues outside of my school and connect with a different …show more content…
I loved the community, the formats, the subjects that we were debating. It was a great way to tap into my passion for international affairs, and I’ll hazard to say I became proficient in it. I became an executive member of the club - I helped organized conferences and mentored younger delegates. Through the organization I developed important leadership skills as well as a confidence for public speaking, I won awards, and I learned how to mentor younger delegates. Model United Nations made me who I am today, and I owe so much to the community as a
The most meaningful club/activity that I have participated in during high school has definitely been DECA; which is an international
The most meaningful and intriguing activity that I have participated in is when I was responsible for children with disabilities at Camp Soar. Every day, for two weeks, I was feeding, bathing, making crafts, and swimming with my campers, which guided me to learn that I wanted to help children. I cherish this camp since it taught me to be reliable--making sure my camper gets the correct Gluten-Free meal--to be tentative--making sure my camper is not drowning in the lake--and it sparked my curiosity--questioning why do these children have Autism and Down Syndrome? This camp is the most influential, being it ignited my desire to study biology due to my devotion to aiding others. Even though this experience was stressful at times, without it, I
Since middle school, I have participated in many after school activities. In Science Olympiad, for instance, I compete in the "Anatomy and Physiology" event. I have garnered a profound amount of knowledge from this event and
This shows my dedication as I attend this class everyday after school from 5-7:30. I also go swimming where I have gained my bronze, silver and gold awards and have also taken part in multiple competitions where I have gained rewards, furthermore I have gained a personal survival honour in swimming. I am studying an extra GCSE out of school in the Arabic language, which I will have completed by next year, I enjoy doing this as it allows me to learn new communication skills that lets me interact with people from other communities.
Over the past two years (2014-2016) I have participated in the National Junior Honors Society. As a member, I commit to completing community service and to learning among my peers in order to develop into a superior leader. I have taken part in activities such as fundraisers, team building activities, and several forms of community services such as working in a soup kitchen, daycares and organizing social events. Recently, I volunteered for a week as a vendor at a temple in Tacoma, raising money for the establishment during the Cambodian New Year festival.
Most of my free time is spent involving myself within my community. I volunteer at Celerity Dyad Charter School, St. Odilia School, church youth group, and cleaning my community. I enjoy helping out since I know I’m improving my community. These experiences have helped me develop skills of interacting with people from different cultures. I also involve myself at school with Cooking club, Delta club, Spanish club, Dance team, Folklorico team, National Honor Society, and Bachata team. I will continue being an involved person because I get to experience different places and people.
In fifth and sixth grade, I was invited to attend The National Young Leadership Forum, an organization dedicated to serving academically gifted and talented youth. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend a week in Washington D.C., where I learned the qualifications of a righteous leader and to develop academic abilities and interests. I will bring my knowledge of leadership to sustain a school community in which students will strive to maintain integrity and trust with each other. By engaging in community service, I have an opportunity to learn experientially, expose myself to diversity, and develop a sense of responsibility. By volunteering in multiple ways in the last several years, I was able to knit hats for children in hospitals, help at a local food bank, create and donate bookmarks for third graders, and help at the Bellaire Public Library. Helping others has given me a great sense of satisfaction and I plan to continue working on various community service projects in the future. Born and raised to Israeli parents, I am benefited with bilinguality, traveling overseas, exposure to other cultures, and insight on global
In addition of these qualities, I am an active participant within the extracurriculars in my school. While in 9th grade, and 10th grade, I participated in many activities, as indicated in the packet attached to this essay. And, outside of school, I enjoy going to piano and art lessons. Through the collected efforts of these activities, I have gained crucial knowledge and other attributes that helped me contribute to society, and to become a better leader.
I believe in contributing to the community. I am a member of the National Honor Society and we do volunteer work for the school and through the community. It seems every other week there is an opportunity to volunteer in which I am eager to take part. In addition, as a Third Party Representative for a civics class called Project 18, I spend at least two hours a week emailing and calling potential guest speakers and creating PowerPoint slideshows that I will present. .
Currently, I am a member of Red Cross Club, UNICEF Club, India Club, MED Club, MUN club, and Symphony. Last year, I have also participated in the Robotics club. These clubs help me learn more about myself and my interest, my goals, and my skills. It really open up my viewpoint. By participating in all these clubs may seem very tense and demanding. In contrast, I joined these clubs because they relieve my stress. They are great ways to communicate with other students and have a lot of fun exposed to real life experiences in the fields/subjects you are interested in. Being a member of these clubs also gives opportunity to meet and network with other people with similar interests.
Contributing to my school and community is a true passion. I am involved in programs like the Red Cross, Angel Tree created by The Salvation Army, and Olive Garden’s Pasta For Pennies. My school hosted a Red Cross blood drive, and I was responsible for promoting the event to individuals within our school. We had a total of two hundred students donate blood. We helped save a total of six hundred lives! I also assisted the Program Angel Tree by promoting the program among the student organizations within my school. Our involvement has helped hundreds of less fortunate children and seniors receive necessities and gifts! As a team, the student council also collects spare change from students in our school. Our collaboration with Olive Garden has helped fund the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's School & Youth campaign. I am truly glad that my contributions have made an impact within my community and society! My strong involvement in extracurricular activities has helped me become knowledgeable, principled, and a risk-taker. I carry a strong sense of respect and righteousness, and I approach unfamiliar opportunities with a vision and great courage. I seek to set an example for members within my school, community, state, and
Outside of school, I am also active in my community. I am involved in many activities. For my church; Spring Baptist Klein Campus; I have been involved as a volunteer at Vacation Bible School for 2 years. I have volunteered for crafts both years because I like to be around children of
For example, I was elected to be the student-body president of my high school, and I was also elected to several other offices, such as treasurer of the Science National Honor Society and fundraiser chair of the National Honor Society. As the student-body president, every day I get to make my voice heard to the entire school, as well as be the voice of the student body. I also was named the Editor-in-Chief of my school’s yearbook. As the Yearbook Editor-in-Chief, I get to interact with the diverse multitude of students at my high school. All of these roles that I have accepted allow me to span across different interests and bridge a seemingly wide gap to connect the people of my diverse high school.
I was an editorial board member of my college magazine and I enjoyed every aspect of working with the other members to make the magazine the success that it was. I have also taken part in a Green Revolution Global Certification Program, a cause supported by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. I spent my time raising awareness about the dangers of global warming and my efforts were rewarded when I saw people using environment friendly
