The following memo will give an overview of two different research projects. This memo presents the executive summary of Mary Greeley Medical Center and Lennox company; each document will be analyzed based on their main audience, its purpose, as well as its contextual variables. In addition to that, I will be outlining the function of writing within the scope of academic writing in English academia, as it appears in the profession of university level education.
Memo Analysis
I chose Mary Greeley Medical Center (MGMC) as the first technical description and Lennox Company as the second choice. The main audience for both of these projects are for seniors who are taking IE441 class, and for those who have graduated from the Industrial Engineering (IE) major, as well as for those non-specialist readers who is least likely to understand the concept of these projects, but also has the least reason to try. The main purpose of this memo is to inform graduating students in IE about technical description.

For instance, “to reduce the decision to admit to discharge from ER department” and “to increase the balance efficiency of the HP2 line by 5-15%”, respectively. In addition to that, Lennox project should include a briefly description about the company, in fact, some readers might probably do not know what kind of company Lennox is all about. At the same time, both of the projects fully mention about the estimate cost of the project in their fourth paragraph, in terms of capex and/or revenue. However, I suggest both of these projects should also provide a high-level estimate on time scale to implement this project in terms of its cost limit or budget valuation. On the other hand, both projects should have indicated some of the risks that can be considered at this early

In their book They Say I Say, Gerald Graff, Cathy Birkenstein, and Russel Durst outline strategies writers can use to avoid common mistakes often seen in academic writing. The book thoroughly outlines the different components that make up academic writing, such as initially summarizing what others have said before, responding with original ideas, proving a purpose to the writing, and connecting the writing in a logical and eloquent manner.
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, . . . do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”(U.S. Constitution.) The very first paragraph of the United States Constitution leaves the reader feeling inspired, hopeful, and patriotic. The introduction truly is a solid introduction as it not only engages the reader with a hook, but also provides a list of the objectives they hope to accomplish through their document. As for the objectives I hope to accomplish through this document; I hope to provide a thoughtful and logical review of Article I of the United States Constitution from the perspective of a typical American high school student.
In the paper “Inventing the University” by David Bartholomae, he shows the mistakes that basic writers make in college. It shows us what writers are lacking in writing effectively for an academic community. He compares and contrasts the differences between a mater writer and a basic writer. It shows how an expert writer keeps the audience in mind and a struggling writer does not. Bartholomae says that writers in college need to learn to “invent the university” which means they adapt their writing to writing and speak the ideas of an academic setting. Some students may find it hard to develop these new ways of writing and speaking in an academic setting. One way a master writer and a basis writer is different is
In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee gives us the character Atticus Finch to give us an example of what courage is through symbolism, pathos, and irony. In this analysis I will talk about about how Atticus’s actions and words all seem to try to teach us something, and that something is courage. We can see the biggest example of Atticus’s courage when he has to talk about Tom Robinson’s case or when he talked to the kids about what Mrs. Dubose was trying to do before her death. Atticus’s courage is the type that allows him to do what he thinks is right even if people don’t agree with him or if it seems hopeless to try. Atticus is also seen trying to pass down his courage and wisdom to his kids throughout the story.
There are definitely people who will be voting for Donald Trump and for everyone's sake, I hope that's out of ignorance. For those people, I'd like to shine a light on why he should not become President.
Response Journal Entry: 1 -Connections: As the story begins in Hiroshima and introduces the characters the people that are living there are not as worried by the alarms and urgent warnings do to false occurrences. This has connection towards me because I would react by evacuating to a shelter because there is no way of telling whether or not it would be a false alarm. But in contrast the Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura ignores the warning due to the events that occur during this time being so frequent. -Authors use of Figurative Language: “Its front hall looked like a cave full of fat cushions.” This a simile through the comparison, the hall is compared to a cave.
Reflecting upon writing as a whole in the medical field and how it is applicable, my views from when I first received this project have been altered drastically. At first glance of this project, the thought of writing about writing in the medical field seemed ludicrous to me; to me at that time, the medical field was for predominantly hands on work and besides the occasional writing down patient notes, writing was close to obsolete. However, clearly, my perception was skewed beforehand which is eye opening to me personally because as I discovered it plays such an impactful part of the medical

quantity of net income dollars of company earned for each dollar invested by the owners was 8.5% in 2010 and 10.4% in 2011 reflecting an increase of 1.9%. After analyzing the solvency ratios the following highlights were found: Riordan’s debt of totals assets ratio indicates company’s capability to survive losses without spoiling the interests of creditors. The company’s time’s interest earned ratio that determines company’s capability to meet interest payments as they come due was 26.9 in 2010 and 8.3 in 2011. A high ratio on times interest earned may lead to investors to think that a company has an undesirable lack of debt or is paying down too much debt with earnings that could be used for other projects (Investopedia, 2013). Subsequently evaluating our performance and efficiently of the collected data, it reveals that Riordan Manufacture has displayed remarkable progress in comparison between years 2011 and 2010. What is academic writing? A simple definition of academic writing is a form of writing that refers to writing done for several reasons. However, a broad definition is any writing done to fulfill the requirements of a college or university. Academic writing is also writing that is used for publications that are read by teacher and researchers or presented at conferences. A prime example of academic writing is lab reports. Lab reports are a form of writing that provides formal record of research or an experiment. These reports consist of objectives, procedures, and results that should be specific enough that interested readers could replicate the experiment. When doing research on lab reports I learned about how a lab report is its own
This case study focused on one component of the program: the process of teaching and assessing business writing for the MBA program. Furthermore, they also offered ideas for helping the students who struggled with weak writing skills.
