The number of obese children more than tripled since 1971. Physical education should be a mandatory class, because at least one in three children in the U.S. are overweight or obese. Obesity is causing a huge amount of health problems that previously weren't seen until adulthood. If all children had PE class every day, it would help reduce the number of children affected by obesity and children would develop a habit of daily physical exercise. Some health problems obese kids are getting can be very serious. These include high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and elevated blood pressure. Obese children commonly have a lower self esteem , negative body image and depression. Physical education is an essential part of growing and learning, not just the physical part is takes a big roll on academic as well. Without Physical education in schools, children would have trouble learning about other things such as math or science. Physical activity stimulates the minds of young children and keeps them on the ball when learning new things.

having so many people affected by being overweight is very unfortunate. As people of us everyone should stand up for physical education as a mandatory class because you can give overweight children of fun and safe environment to work and achieve their goals they have set for themselves. do you think we should be mandatory? then 12 million children in the US who are overweight or obese. There could be an easy yes fun place for that tablet in a physical education gym at school every day where you were surrounded by your peers who were doing nothing but encouraging you to push harder and do your best. a place where you can slowly but surely start losing weight in a fun way. In your PE
Do you get enough exercise? Are you sure about that? Or how about this, are you overweight, do you even know? Today’s adolescents don’t. In fact today’s adolescents face serious risk from their lack of activity. Today’s children are obese because they have developed some very bad habits related to healthy living and as result can suffer serious physical and psychological damage.
As a future educator of physical education, I feel that our nation’s weight problem is an issue that needs to be addressed. I feel that it is and will be my job to educate students about the importance of taking care of your body because “fat kids have a 92% chance of becoming fat adults” (www.amp.com). The leading cause of death in the United States, for men and women, is heart disease. “The United States alone the estimated annual number of deaths attributable to obesity is about 280,000.”
Physical education classes are not enjoyed by all, in fact, some students do their best to get out of the class each day, but without this class, students would sit in school for seven hours a day with the only exercise being walking from class to class. While changing clothes and possibly getting sweaty may not seem productive for students who have spent an hour doing their hair, or feel awkward changing in front of others, this class provides positive ways of fighting obesity, releasing energy, retaining more academically, and learning discipline. Thus, students should be required to take physical education courses in high school.
Many researchers have conteracted with each other and have shown the health effects obesity has brought up. They have seen many kids suffer from type 2 diabetes, strokes, variety of cancer, and even osteoarthritis. As for another effect they seem to have a high risk of cardiovascular diease or high blood pressure.Along with that they also have a greater risk for bone and join problems, sleep apnea, social and psychological problems. They have estimated about 70% of children have cardiovascular diease and some start of prediabetes. The centers for Diease Contol and Prevention say that more than one-third of kids and adolescents in the U.S. are overweight. The medicare cost for Obese Children cost for a lifetime 19,000, which is more than the lifetime for normal weight kids. Obesity health effects are caused by not getting enough physical activity. Schools
Many students are affected by having to take a pe course every year. But it's very healthy to get some type of exercise each day and eat right. It shows that 33% obesity shows in children, according to the American Heart Organization. Also a new study released by the Global Burden of Disease lists the ten countries with the highest rate of obesity. America weighs in at number one! That is why PE class should be required because who wants to live
Not only do schools offer unhealthy foods for children, but most do not offer the required amount of physical activity. Most adolescents fall short of the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommendation of at least one hour of aerobic activity every day. Only 18% of students in high school met that recommendation in 2007. All schools need to require some sort of a physical activity class. In 2009 only 33% took daily physical education classes. (CDC 2) Needless to say, schools play a very crucial role in the problem of childhood obesity. Physical Activity in schools could be a huge key in helping fix this problem.
The rate of childhood obesity has grown an enormous amount over the years with more than 40 million children being overweight! That number is astonishingly high and it is very obvious that something needs to be done about this. Studies had shown in 2008 that more than 40 million children were said to be overweight and the sad truth is that they are still increasing rapidly to this day; also every 1 in 4 teenagers is said to not reach the fitness guidelines (Tanner) according to an article by Lindsey Tanner. For this problem to be resolved not only do the parents of children need to make sure their kids are staying active but also, the schools they attend need to make sure they are getting a well-balanced meal and have some type of physical activity during their school day. Each state in America is given a percentage rate on the number of obese people in that particular state. The highest ranking state is Mississippi with a percentage of 34.9 and the state ranking the least is Connecticut with 24.5 percent. Different researches have shown that each day 850 lives are taken due to obesity and each year there are more than 300,000 people that die from obesity related illnesses. These are deaths that most likely could have been avoided if these individuals would have had the proper exercise and diet in their lives.
According to the National Institute of Health, 35.7% of adults are considered to be obese. Gym classes can help make a child exercise, therefore decreasing the probability of obesity during their adulthood. Gym classes can teach students good habits to keep during adulthood. In addition, it can tremendously benefit the health of the students. Finally, it can help with students performance in school. P.E. should be mandatory everyday in every state across the country.
A child's learning ability and overall health can be affected by them being overweight. Some of the obese and overweight "...children are developing conditions and diseases that normally would be associated with adults, such as high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, ...type 2 diabetes...occurrence of certain cancers, including colon cancer..." (Andrews 2). Along with these conditions and diseases many children are also faced with "...social discrimination" from their peers and the people around them (2). In schools "...overweight students showed 0.4 lower GPA and 11% lower national percentile reading scores... also [they] had significantly more detentions, poorer school attendance,
To do so, the Federal Government needs to make it mandatory for all high school students to participate in physical education. Physical Education restricts any harmful illnesses from forming since the activity promotes muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance (Grace). Young adults need to be physically active in order to avoid dangerous cardiovascular diseases from forming and the Federal Government can ensure this by enforcing physical education within high schools. In fact since the last decade, physical education has been argued and decreased in importance; as a result of this, more and more young adults are developing heart diseases in an early age. In fact, according to the CDC, physical inactivity increases one’s risk for dying prematurely, dying of heart disease, and developing diabetes, colon cancer, and high blood pressure (Physical). It's only a matter of time before the number of young adults that get a cardiovascular disease rises, and the only thing that can help stop this is the Federal
In my opinion I think that P.E is require for every student that steps or is in school. For all ages they should be doing lots of cardio and exercise. These are the reasons why we need P.E.
I feel that physical education requirements should not be cut. Children in America today are already less active physically compared to years ago. I think that electronics and other forms of technology are to blame for this. When I was a child, I could not wait to come home from school so I could go outside to play. Sadly, that does not seem to be the case with a lot of children in America today. Physical Education in schools is important, and I think that it does help children and can help them "blow off steam" during school hours. Research suggests that kids that engage in physical activity during school hours show better concentration academically (Kohl, 2013). I do believe that physical education requirements should stay the same, or there
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the number of obese children ages 6-19 have tripled to 16% over the last twelve years. That is an alarming figure. One of the main causes is lack of physical activity. This may seem like an obvious cause, but it seems to be the one our youth have the most problems with. Physical education is being
In today’s society, technology has played a big role in everyone’s lives and has taken over. Kids today stay inside and play on the computer, watch TV, play video games, or mess with tablets and smartphones. Several people find other, more entertaining things to do than play outside and be active. Some of the times, physical education in schools is the only physical activity students have on a daily basis (“Obesity”). Kids and teenagers would much rather be wrapped up in a social network than going for a job or going to the gym. Back in the day, playing outside was one of the few entertainments. Parents have no discipline and let their children do what they want to their bodies. Technology has caused people to be less active and not as self-controlled causing them to be obese or overweight later in life.
an environment for a child to not end up being victim to that statistics. School is like a second home, to many students spending up to 8 hrs or more in a school building. They should have the opportunity to incorporate physical activity into their day. Already there large umbers of obese children in the nation. “Percent of adolescents age 12-19 years who are obese: 18%”(CDC). There is about double the amount of adult s that is obese to children. Yet with physical education, the number of adults in future statistics that are overweight could vastly increases. The future generations could learn to improve there eating habits which can not only improve their own bodies but the overall
