Macbeth: Macbeth is a prime example of ambition leading someone down the path of corruption and making a complete fool of himself. “From this moment the very firstlings of my heart shall be the firstlings of my hand. And even now, to crown my thoughts with acts, be it thought and done: The castle of Macduff I will surprise, Seize upon Fife, give to th' edge o' th' sword, his wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls that trace him in his line.” Act 4.2 Macbeth starts off by saying that he will immediately act on his thoughts which is a terrible idea. He then makes macduff is enemy by killing macduff's family. Every Time macbeth acts on his thoughts he seals his fate and makes his situation worse. This is a common occurrence in the play, this idea of fate is challenged because the audience must determine if his fate is set or created by uncontrollable ambition.

She uses her effective methods to completely mislead macbeth away from his objections of killing the king. “We will proceed no further in this business. He hath honored me of late, and I have bought golden opinions from all sorts of people” 1.7 Macbeth tells his wife that they can no longer go through with the plan and that he just wants to enjoy what he has now. “What beast was ’t, then, that made you break this enterprise to me? When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man.” After he admits his second thought, his wife insults him and persuades him to follow through with his word. Macbeth now feels pressure to kill the king to prove his manhood. This has all happened though the unmatched persistence of lady macbeth. Her ambition was so intense that some could say that the guilt that followed was just as intense and that is what lead to her insanity and suicide
