One strategy currently active is a program put into practice by the World Wildlife Fund which allows people to sponsor injured sea turtles. This program is a very simple way for the general public to get involved, as each donation of $25 funds the rehabilitation of one injured turtle. Once the turtles have completed rehabilitation, they are released back into the oceans. (Leatherback turtle, n.d.) It is important that research on Leatherbacks continues so people can achieve an even better understanding of the species. Educating communities which are located near nesting beaches will help to ensure that the protections currently in place are enforced, greatly cutting back on the number of poaching cases. This will also increase the likelihood
The Red-bellied Cooter is being threatened by both man-made and natural causes. Do to economic growth, areas that used to be a good habitat for these turtles are now being turned into new, buildings like apartments, houses, and stores. In areas where the turtles can live, they are threatened before they have even hatched from their eggs by other predators like raccoons, skunks, or even snapping turtles. Almost all of the eggs in a nest are harmed before they have a chance to hatch. So while humans taking up land takes the Red-bellied Cooters’ homes, their predators take their lives.
However, this was the first time a live leatherback had been found there. Experts in the area wanted to help.
When Christopher was eight years old, he didn’t know that he would be attacked and be scarred for life in less than a day. Christopher arrived at his friend's house. His friend told him to hold a stick and say fetch to the husky. Before Christopher could even throw the stick the dog viciously attacked him. His friend ran to get help. After that Chris had to have 1000 Stitches. Chris had very bad nightmares about the dog attacking him. That dog scarred him for a very long time. To this day he still has nightmares about that dog. There was more to come after this event.
Imagine a woman with powdery, permed hair who smells of hairspray and flowery potpourri. She is an 87-year-old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who has found a new home at a retirement facility after her husband of 56 years passed away, but now that home is being taken from her. In its 48 years, Oaknoll, a retirement home and care facility located in Iowa City, has been a home for hundreds of residents. As a nonprofit organization, Oaknoll has little to offer the city financially. It does not pay property taxes and sits upon prime property along bustling Benton and Oakcrest streets. With the closing of Oaknoll, Iowa City plans to sell the land, potentially valued at over three million dollars, to private owners for the construction
A lot of negative has been coming to light lately about the Brown family from Alaskan Bush People. Radar Online shared the news that Matt Brown was arrested for DUI back in 2013 and the details of his big arrest are now coming out. This family claims to live far away from civilization out in the middle of Alaska, but somehow Matt Brown is ending up at a bar and having a good old time, that turned into trouble in the end.
The wind was whipping fiercely when Nikki Maratea, her younger sister Alex, and Nikki's 3-week-old son Derrian went to catch an elevated train in Philadelphia near the home they shared with their mother. Thinking she had put the brake on the stroller, Nikki, 20, let it go to argue with the cashier, who insisted she pay the $2 fare before moving to the platform. A moment later Alex, then 10, looked toward her nephew—but he and his stroller were gone. "I said, 'Nikki,'" Alex recalls, "'where's the baby?'" They could hear Derrian's cries, but saw no sign of him. "Then," Alex says, "I looked down." What she saw was a nightmare: The stroller, blown by the wind, was lying on the tracks, about four
figure makes a run for it, the lyrics depict Wenjack as almost surprised that no one is “chasin'” after them (Gord). The dialogue is an effective way to bring the audience into a singular moment of Wenjack’s life and escape. Sean Carlton describes this scene as “a rare representation of student agency,” that goes against traditional portrayals of Indigenous people as victims (Carlton). In this way, Downie is depicting Wenjack as an individual with individual thoughts, and reasons for running away. With this in mind, Wenjack’s character moves away from stereotypes, because the audience is able to connect with his fear and the tension in the music and lyrics. Wenjack becomes a relatable figure.
Judge you should vote for Negative because we are the team worth voting for. First off if you listen closely to the points affirmative is trying to prove, when they bring up racial profiling this same exact argument is used in drones. Can you just accept that or is it time to come up with something fresh. They said that stingray devices hurt democracy and the law enforcement uses stingray devices illegally. This is completely false! They gave no evidence to support the idea that the law enforcement is abusing their power. Therefor, this claim isn’t true. We say that because the Department of JUSTICE now requires warrants for the use of stingrays, the aff’s claim that our rights are at risk, is again FALSE! They stated that “Constitutional violations” like stingray will create an unstoppable police
“It is tedious to have to always obtain a pass from a teacher. Most of us are responsible almost-adults, and it would be nice to be treated as such.” Spoke one student who described her grades as ‘fantastic’ and regularly attends tutoring and club meetings. On the other side of the spectrum with a 16.7% of students who take a liking to the passes, one student said that they believe the passes keeps students from leaving and or going places that they are not allowed. But the 16.7% of students still do not surpass the 53.3% who said that they want it removed and 30% who don’t care, with this it is clear what the students of Cedar Ridge think. Some alternative options the students gave were to let them freely change locations and if they cause
It is clear Ryerson University needs a better way to make education accessible to all their students. With the constant delays of the transit systems we have, and the rising costs to commute, students are skipping lectures. The best solution to this problem is starting VR enabled lectures. This will keep expenses low for students and save time that students struggle to find. VR enabled lectures are far superior to the alternative, which is living on campus. By living on campus expenses increase and you’re not in the comfort of your home. Also it is not guaranteed you will get approved to live on residence because of the limited beds available. Being a computer science students we already have the necessary knowledge to make this possible, as
Because of this funding, more women are being recognized as victims and have equal access to help regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and immigration status. Hence, in addition to saving lives, VAWA 2013, saves money by reducing or even preventing future violence as well as related social costs.
As we were driving down Main Street, we felt the sudden change from the smooth pavement to historic brick road as the Uber rolled to a stop onto the corner of Exchange and Main. As we exited the Uber, we were immediately surrounded with an overwhelming aroma of food, cattle, and fresh air. As we took a look around, we felt completely out of place as two out-of-state college students in our oversized t-shirts and sneakers. Tourists, college students, and locals roamed the streets and occupied the famous restaurants. What once was known as "Cowtown" or more formally the Union Stockyards Company, is now a home to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District. Home to famous restaurants such as Hunter Brother's H3 Ranch, Love Shack, and

It is often assumed that failure is a deterrent to achievement. Rather, failure should be seen as a motivator for a person to keep trying until the objective or aim of a particular mission is fulfilled.
