First Argumentative Paragraph One important reason that Laura and Howie learning experience was justifiable is that Laura and Howie need a place to sleep because they don’t have anywhere to sleep. ‘’Shut up we’re not sleeping in the wood unless we have to and your sick anyways. pg.#113 My reasoning is that this proves my evidence because Laura and Howie needed a place to sleep and they found a hotel but they just needed they key and Laura said that their not going to sleep in the woods unless the have to. so this proves why they need sleep.some others might say this was foolish because they say this was illegal because the broke in a hotel but I say this was a good thing because they need sleep and how will they be sleeping in the woods when there only 12 or 13 and that's dangerous.Laura and Howie learning experience was justifiable because they needed sleep and they were not going to …show more content…
Of course, it is possible to disagree with the view that Laura and Howie needed to be safe and instead argue that they were acting foolish because they were with a policeman and they were save with him and some people thing is foolish because they were acting like that. However, stronger evidence is on the other side. What must be remembered is that they didn’t know if he was a cop or not. They just wanted to go home and they didn’t think he was a policeman. This is essentially why They needed to be safe and they didn’t feel like that because they were with a cop that didn’t look like one. Third Argumentative
One important reason that Howie and Laura's excursion was not justifiable and was foolish and they should be punished for their actions is that Howie and Laura face trouble everywhere they go. When Howie and Laura arrive at the Dining Hall, Howie begins to be angered by Pardo."The boy kicked him hard in the side of the knee. Pardoe made a loud, ugly sound and fell down on the floor." (Page 85). What this means is Howie and Laura face trouble when Howie ended up in a fight with Pardoe. Howie and Laura also end up making a commotion in the Dining Hall. The other side of the argument is Howie and Laura have been helped by many people along their journey. But the argument that Howie and Laura face trouble everywhere they go is still true. The key
One important reason that the world that Laura and Howie encounter is more dangerous and malevolent is that Laura and howie Were misunderstood In the chapter. ” The Restaurant ” The cleaning lady thought that Laura and howie were boyfriend and girlfriend and thought they were doing thing they shouldn’t. ( 142 ) what this means is that howie and laura being misunderstood and that supports that the world is malevolent because the cleaning lady thought that laura and howie were dating. The other side of the argument is that Howie and Laura's world is more caring, supportive, and worth exploring. But the argument that they are teenagers and most teenagers are capable of doing that is still true. The key point is that people should never judge
The rule of law states that in order for a police officer to make a stop he must have reasonable suspicion. The reasonable suspicion standard mentions that “officers can briefly stop a person for investigative purposes if the officer has a reasonable suspicion supported by articulable facts that criminal activity may be afoot” (Cops, 2016). If the totality of the circumstances in this case are taken into consideration, Officer Provenza had plenty of reasonable suspicion that criminal activity could be afoot. First, Officer Provenza, knew that Professor Plum had a history of getting intoxicated at these types of events. Officer Provenza had found Professor Plum drunk at this same event, a year prior. In addition, he saw Professor Plum say “oh no” and put a stick of chewing gum in his mouth as soon as he saw the patrol car. Furthermore, the report mentions that the car traveled unusually slowly and made a right turn that seemed unusually abrupt. These facts fall under the reasonable suspicion standard and prove that Officer Provenza was working with more than just a simple
One important reason that Laura and Howie encounter a dangerous, malevolent world when they left camp is that Laura and Howie had to be careful to not get caught.According to the book the goats from brock cole on page 143 the text says “when he came out of the bathroom, he saw
One vital reason that Howie and Laura should be punished is because they broke the law, repeatedly and were not punished. The text provides evidence that the sheriff won't be pressing charges, Margo Cutter tells Ms.Golden ‘I dont think sheriff Prosser will be pressing charges’’(p. 166). The circumstance was that they were bullied, this does not warrant criminal activity. It is saying that this proves that they are delinquents. With lack of repercussions their delinquent actions will continue, they're not realizing it's wrong.
Some officers have a duty to go undercover and their protection should always be noticed by the court, however, Young's actions were not done in malice or done to harm
Jennifer Thoman, I strongly agree with you in the first story. It was wrong and unethical for the police officers and the commissioners to fail to take action toward the prostitution that was going on in the area. Citizens’ concerns should always be a priority for the police force. The fact that they didn’t make any effort to help the people and went to the restaurant to wasting time; they all should have got fired. In the second story though, there was not a big of issue; however, I feel like the veteran cop feels like he was entitle for the free meal because he save the restaurant from burglarize which to me was seemed unethical.
An arrogant comment, a brag from Muhammad Ali, but he was not wrong he was a great champion, one of the best. Muhammad Ali was a great boxer and an inspirational man. Even as a child he was a regular on a show called Tomorrow's Champions, a thing that got him far was his never quit attitude, or even his saying “fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”
(Paragraph 5) In "The myth of police reform" the author exemplifies the use of logos, ethos and pathos therefore making the argument effective. Police officers are just doing their job and they have the power to do whatever they would like to do. If they question you then that is there job and they want people to obey them and follow the rules that the state or what they made for the country or city. If people, follow the rules then they have nothing to worry about and you will be safe for
Second, at naptime a boy named Joshua seemed like to be given hard time sleeping. The caregiver told Joshua what she wanted him to do. She said,” You don’t have to go to sleep, but you need to lay down and rest. “ I think if she stopped at this sentence, he might not scream. However, she added that playing was not the choice. That adding sentence made him really upset. When caregiver asked Joshua, “why questions” to him, she should let him calm down first. The caregiver placed Joshua’s napping mat isolated from children as if he was timeout. She said,” I am not coming back if you do...”, and she basically told
-I also believe the police were legally responsible for the deaths of the three girls. I believe this due to the fact that it is also an officer’s legal duty to
When Laura and Howie were done fighting in the woods, Howie talked to her about his idea of living together,¨Well, it's kind of weird. I had this idea. I had this idea that you and I could live together in the woods”(182). The author of The Goats point is that Howie believes that he and Laura have a strong bond. They were willing to be distant from society and live together. If you did not have a close relationship with someone you would not want to live with them. Of course, it is possible to disagree with the view that they grew a strong bond with each other over time and instead argue that they did not have a strong bond with each other, resulting in a short friendship. However, the weight of the evidence is on the other side. What must be remembered is that they did have a strong bond because in the motel when Laura was in trouble with the adults, Howie helped her. Howie went out of his way and made a big distraction so that they both would be able to escape together. Howie had another chance at this moment to leave Laura and potentially get away, to never get caught. If they did not have a strong bond then Howie would have never saved Laura. This is fundamentally why they grew a strong bond with each other over
The police officers would have probable cause due to (reliable hearsay) the prior information that they were given about the incident from dispatch and the neighbors (Gosselin, 2013, pg. 276). This includes the information of banging on the walls and the female running into her apartment while the male appeared to be chasing her. Also (observations of the police) is a source for probable cause (Gosselin, 2013, pg. 276). They have observed and have ideas of what has happened at the scene, yet as they knock on the door, the couple takes forever to open it. The police should examine the situation thoroughly in order to decide who may be the self – defender, and the primary aggressor, which is the individual that is responsible for the physical violence. This should be done to avoid the dual arrest situation (if possible) and conclude who they should arrest (Gosselin, 2013, pg. 271). This includes checking both individuals for injuries for a certain decision making process (Gosselin, 2013, pg. 271). The police officers should also use the interviewing method, this involves separating the partners from each other and questioning them in order to establish how
many accusations. It shows back then police officers did not care about protecting people. They
Police officers are often viewed as oppressors and unjust by the community, when in reality they are just doing their jobs. The job of a police officer is to apprehend criminals and detect crime, and the maintenance of public order and to the extend and complication of this duty police officers often need to make split second decision that is not often view by the public as what we call “self-defense” which is a right we all have as human beings and stated in the Universal Declaration of
