How long does a bond stay between two people? How about when the two were stranded on an island naked and afraid? In the Goats we encounter an unusual relationship which is made over time between two kids who went through with similar experiences. Many wonder if the bond will end shortly after their journey. On the other hand people believe their bond will stay strong after their journey, which is believed that can be done. Since they have been through the same hardships together, they had the opportunity to leave each other which they didn´t, and a bond that strong doesn't end that easily. Howie and Laura will remain close friends for many years, the terrifying experience they went through is evidence of this. One important reason that Laura …show more content…
When Laura and Howie were done fighting in the woods, Howie talked to her about his idea of living together,¨Well, it's kind of weird. I had this idea. I had this idea that you and I could live together in the woods”(182). The author of The Goats point is that Howie believes that he and Laura have a strong bond. They were willing to be distant from society and live together. If you did not have a close relationship with someone you would not want to live with them. Of course, it is possible to disagree with the view that they grew a strong bond with each other over time and instead argue that they did not have a strong bond with each other, resulting in a short friendship. However, the weight of the evidence is on the other side. What must be remembered is that they did have a strong bond because in the motel when Laura was in trouble with the adults, Howie helped her. Howie went out of his way and made a big distraction so that they both would be able to escape together. Howie had another chance at this moment to leave Laura and potentially get away, to never get caught. If they did not have a strong bond then Howie would have never saved Laura. This is fundamentally why they grew a strong bond with each other over
One important reason that Howie and Laura's excursion was not justifiable and was foolish and they should be punished for their actions is that Howie and Laura face trouble everywhere they go. When Howie and Laura arrive at the Dining Hall, Howie begins to be angered by Pardo."The boy kicked him hard in the side of the knee. Pardoe made a loud, ugly sound and fell down on the floor." (Page 85). What this means is Howie and Laura face trouble when Howie ended up in a fight with Pardoe. Howie and Laura also end up making a commotion in the Dining Hall. The other side of the argument is Howie and Laura have been helped by many people along their journey. But the argument that Howie and Laura face trouble everywhere they go is still true. The key
One important reason that Howies Laura Decisions Are childish and immature and should be punished is that Howie and Laura’s Actions that negatively affected a lot of people. According to the book in page 166 they ran over an officer's foot . What the author is saying here is that They negatively affected him because they ran over his foot and now it would be harder to walk. Maybe with enough force maybe Howie and Laura broke his foot. The only thing he was trying to do is trying to inform the town's sheriff they were safe and they did an immature thing and trying to escape. Now some might agree that his attitude was bad. But the argument that Howie and Laura’s Actions that negatively affected a lot of people is still true, the point is that he was acting that way because that's his job as an officer he supposed to intimated the people he catches doing crimes. He is supposed to make them confess.
My evidence from the text states,"Damn. Hazel? Check her parking lot. Keep her here, Mrs. Purse. He came out from behind the desk. ‘You're in trouble’ he said”. On page 147. The point is that this piece of evidence helps support my argumentative claim because the man said that Laura was in trouble because of Mrs. Purse. When they were caught in the motel. Of course it is possible to disagree with the view that says Howie and Laura got caught in a motel by someone who was suspicious of them, argue that Howie and Laura went to the hotel to be there for awhile they were not intentionally going to stay there forever. However stronger evidence is on the other side. What must be remembered is that Howie and Laura went to the hotel to be there for awhile they were not intentionally going to stay there forever. This is essentially why Howie and Laura got caught in a motel by someone who was suspicious of them and it connects to the overall position, Laura and Howie encountered a dangerous and malevolent world when they left
One important reason that the world that Laura and Howie encounter is more dangerous and malevolent is that Laura and howie Were misunderstood In the chapter. ” The Restaurant ” The cleaning lady thought that Laura and howie were boyfriend and girlfriend and thought they were doing thing they shouldn’t. ( 142 ) what this means is that howie and laura being misunderstood and that supports that the world is malevolent because the cleaning lady thought that laura and howie were dating. The other side of the argument is that Howie and Laura's world is more caring, supportive, and worth exploring. But the argument that they are teenagers and most teenagers are capable of doing that is still true. The key point is that people should never judge
On page 124 it says.I need to get some stuff. It is for girls,"she said and turned dark red under her tan¨.The point is the people who stranded them left them with nothing and she didn't have anything for her period so she stole money to get what she needed. Of course, it is possible to disagree with the view that Laura had to steal money because she was getting her period and she did not have anything to use and instead argue that someone else might argue that Laura could have asked someone for money to buy female products. However, stronger evidence is on the other side. What must be remembered is that Laura and Howie are both socially retarded so asking someone for money no matter how serious the situation is would be hard to ask someone for help. This is essentially why Laura had to steal money because she was getting her period and she did not have anything to use supports why Laura and Howies excursion a learning experience that was justified by the circumstances they were in is
One important reason that Laura and Howie encounter a dangerous, malevolent world when they left camp is that Laura and Howie had to be careful to not get caught.According to the book the goats from brock cole on page 143 the text says “when he came out of the bathroom, he saw

The second half of the relational model is called the “coming apart” stages, which consists of: differentiating, circumscribing, stagnating, avoiding, and lastly terminating. During the differentiating stage the relationship will start to be more individual, it will start to fade and the bond will be broken. After that comes the circumscribing stage during which the individuals won’t communicate because of the fear of starting an argument. The stage where relationships never improve or continue is called stagnating. After this point the individuals enter the avoiding stage, where the avoid any physical contact
The reason behind why Laura has such a dysfunctional mind may lie in her relationship with her husband. In the short story you clearly get feeling that the relationship between Laura and her husband is kind of strained. They are married and they work together, but it seems like their relationship doesn’t exist, they probably only talk when they are at work and when Laura leaves the office at the end of the day, it’s without her husband. But it hasn’t always been that way, they used be able to talk honest to each other about deep things, but it seems like something has happened. Maybe her husband has been unfaithful to her and therefore they live apart from each other – waiting for the divorce – and Laura has a hard time coping with these things.
A close-knit loving bond between two people can begin with a friendship. Whether it is a friendship between two males, two females, or one male and one female, these friendships will develop into love. In no way is it a romantic love, but this type of love connects and bonds friends. Friends may move away or friendships may wane, but the love between the two people burns on forever.
