Kobe Bryant was born on August 23, 1978. He was born into his family that lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bryant grew up watching his dad play basketball in the NBA. Once he was old enough he joined his high school team, the Lower Merion school district. He played there until he was 17 years old, but then was drafted to the Charlotte Hornets 1st round pick in the 1996 NBA draft. Kobe Bryant didn’t get even one game on the Hornets and got traded to the Los Angeles Lakers the same year. Kobe started off on the Lakers team not so good, he didn’t start and averaged about 6-7 points per game. Though he may not have started so well he grew into the team and in 1998 he was selected to start in a All-star game. Bryant was the youngest player
