Kerri then went on to college at Stanford University where she was titled four-year first-team All-American then Final Four MVP in 1996 and co-National Player Of The Year in 1999. Kerri graduated from Stanford in 2000 with a Americans Studies. Later on in her career Kerri played professional beach volleyball in the USA AVP Tour and internationally on the FIVB World Tour. Kimi Diane Oliveira, formerly known as Kimi Diane Nakawatase, is currently 74 years old and was born on September 10, 1941, 3 months before the attack on Pearl Harbour on December 7th. Kimi was born to a Japanese family with two older sisters. Together they lived in Stockton, California while her parents lived unassuming lives. Life was simple, but everyone felt content. Once Japan attacked Pearl Harbour and subsequently America declared war on Japan, all Japanese descendents were called and sent to assembly centers around California. Kimi was only 3 months old at this time, but later on in life she would hear stories and read books about the Japanese’s time in the internment camps.
When she was young her parents noticed that she had a real talent and made sure that she always had the right training. Her talent was first noticed when she was in kindergarten and she had won all the races and her teacher decided to enter her in the state competition. Alex’s sports hobbies include tennis and volleyball. Alex has been playing competitive tennis for 3 years now. She has been ranked in singles as high as the 16th highest ranked player in all of Colorado. In doubles, she has been ranked as high as the 8th highest doubles team with her doubles partner Lindsay Lynch. Alex and her doubles partner Lindsay got 4th overall in a sectional tournament with girls competing from Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, and Utah. Matthew, as you referenced I truly believe that western expansion a major reason that caused the Civil War, especially with the Kansas and Nebraska entering as U.S. territories (M. Moore, personal communication, May 25, 2017 & Schultz, 2014). However, the threat to the Southern way of life was the fact that they were unwilling to advance technologically as the North had during the market revolution. However, I fail to fully understand how the new territories being fully anti-slave states really would affect the South as long as they were still able to own slaves. So, was the issue possibly that to justify their treatment of slaves that they wanted other states to join them to soothe their conscience?

When playing in the USTA national championship she pulled off one of the biggest upsets ever seen! (Besides her match in the US Open).
