There once was a straight a student in Fredonia high school. The student’s name was Betty Burns. She always got good grades in high school. She got all of her assignments on time everyday. Sports she played where volleyball, track and softball. Betty like sports alot so she went to college to play volleyball. The collage she went to was k-state, she liked k-state alot. K-state has been a collage for years, Betty had friends in collarge. Betty asked one of her friends “do you want to go the movies with me” her friend said “YES”. In conclusion, Ruth Younger’s personality has a lot to do with her dream. It takes a while for happiness to arrive but usually those who are patient get the greatest outcome. Just before the 1960 Rome Olympic Games, Betty suffered from a torn hamstring. As a result of this, she couldn’t get through the second round of the 100m race and was also asked to drop out from the 200m race. She ultimately became a standby for the season, while Wilma Rudolph of America replaced her place of the triple gold holder. After this, she retired from athletics. Her retirement only lasted for 18 months. Cuthbert suggests that making a comeback was not something she really thought about, but she was inspired by her conscience, which she says could’ve been god. She trained along with Percy Cerutty at Portsea and was also guided by June Fergusson, her initial coach. This led to her participating in the 1962 Perth British Empire and Commonwealth Games, and winning a gold medal for the 4x110 yards relay.
