I feel terrible. Mom hasn't said anything about Kenna all evening. She hasn't needed to. I can see the turbulence brewing in her eyes. I thought that maybe I could begin to bring down the wall between Kenna and I, but now I know that will never be possible.
I made it through a silent dinner, somehow I managed to make Mom and Nix mad at me today. Now Nix and I are working quietly on our homework at the kitchen table. Nix turned the TV on in the living room, but nobody is watching. The only reason I think we are all willing to leave it on is because if it was silent, the tension between us might explode.
So much has happened this week. My mind is too jumbled to focus on my homework. Kenna is suddenly back in my life. There was a man in my room last night. The accident today under the bleachers...

"Firmer regulations are expected during sporting events at Sultana High after the school's regularly overcrowded bleachers collapsed today. Authorities say that only one member of the football team was injured by the collapse, but was spared serious injury as he managed to roll off the side. Liam Covington, a Junior at Sultana High School was resting under the structure as it fell. He would have been crushed had it not been for an accidental hero." I glance at Mom. She is rigid.
"Patricia Lemos, a teacher at Sultana, claims that the instant she started her car to leave the school, it involuntarily drove up and over a school planter, and straight toward the bleachers, creating a wedge of protection for Liam, protecting him from approximately 2000 pounds of metal. Authorities say that Liam was checked by medics, but released when no injury was found."
The news continues, but Mom slowly turns around. Nix clicks the television off, intentionally too late.
"Were you planning on telling me about this?" Mom asks in a breathy voice. I look down at my homework spread across the table. I can feel my ears burning red. I can't believe Nix betrayed
emergency vehicles parked ¼ of a mile up the road instead of rushing into the school, no trauma
“Oh no,” whispered mother with her handed across her mouth. “What are we going to do?”
Few minutes later, one teacher started to faint and fell in the middle of audience. The game stopped and nurse came into the gym. He wasn't breathing at all, so he was sent to a hospital. The game kept going with my teammate and remaining teachers.”
As Angelica confidently strolled into Rosario High, Eliza and Peggy, her sisters followed close behind. Angelica had been at the school before, because she'd been taking a bus over to the high school for her advanced math class all throughout eighth grade. Eliza, however, had never been inside the building before and felt incredibly small walking in. Peggy wasn't even supposed to be there. She should've been in eighth grade, but she skipped it and went straight to high school. She was very smart, but no one ever noticed. She was always just Angelica and Eliza's sister. They made their way down wing 1B in search of their lockers. Peggy stopped at her locker, number ninety six, while Angelica and Eliza looked for their own. Angelica finished her search at locker number seventy stuff. Eliza found hers a bit farther down, locker 46. While she began to unpack her books, she saw four boys making their way down the hallway. One was the famous jock, Lafayette. No one knew his real name except teachers, because he insisted that it was to long to use. His friend, another jock who was very smart, however, Hercules Mulligan followed him down the hall. John Laurens, who was decent at sports, but more of a science guy was with them, too. Following them was the mystery man, Alexander Hamilton. He was in their grade, but barely anyone knew anything about him. Eliza figured he was just another jock.
This report is from an accident that happened during recess on September the 15th, at NewCrust High School in Brighton. I rushed through the hallways to get to class, when the accident occurred.
Large yellow school busses lining the streets, school parking lots filled with employee cars, and students walking to school with loaded backpacks; all signs that school is in session. With the excitement of motivated students filling the classrooms and sounds of young chatter in the hallways, it is almost impossible to think that anything could go wrong during the school year. However, in no time, a student is on the ground with a large gash down their leg and a broken arm. It was not clumsiness or mischief, it was the uneven blacktop that has been cracked for the past four years. This scenario could be an occurrence at many sites, however, with proper procedure, and maintenance, possible cases of negligence can be avoided. At Lakeside Middle School, the administration and custodian personnel conduct walkthroughs on a regular basis, yet there are still possible cases of negligence lurking in the realm.
There is much to be said about this week, yet I don't want to take a lot of your time. I'll touch of some experiences and highlights.
It was a night resembling every other preceding it, though within it was a pivotal moment directing me on a path to a world of medicine. As the rays of light began to recede and the sounds of the crickets chirping resonated louder with each passing minute, there I sat upon the curb watching my younger family members race back and forth across the gravel in pursuit of earning their team a goal. The parents stood idly by conversing with one another, failing to notice when a particular young boy tripped on one knee with great force. Slowly he stood as the other players on the field continued playing without a glance towards their injured teammate. Turning in the opposite direction he walked to a secluded area, slumped down, and bowed his head while cupping his knee. Approaching him, I noticed there was the faint sound of sniffling. Bending down I asked if he was hurt and at last he raised his head, still holding on to his knee. Putting on a brave face he responded with a resolute no.
The beginning of my week started out with a very stressful situation that led me to an obstacle that I would have to overcome. The weather was miserable and that intensified how I felt. It was windy and pouring rain as I drove to the veterinarian's office in a panic. The problem was that our puppy suddenly became ill with virus like symptoms and appeared to be dying. I knew what the culprit was and have seen how horrible canine parvo virus can be. My next few decisions would reveal the puppies fate.
1. The Fourth Amendment of the U.S Constitution says, “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
We all have a week or a month, when things are not as expected! Let me go back to one such week in 2017 it was the week that everything that happened was not expected. Before retelling the story, characters have to be introduced. The main characters are Noor, Alya, Abdullah, Aziz and I. They are my siblings. As for the other three, they are my girl cousins their names are Jawahar, Maha and Ghalya. As for the characters that are unnecessary and will only be mentioned once, they are my Aunt’s son and my Uncle’s son. Also, there are Ahmed, my Father, and Fahad my cousin who have both passed away. It was unexpected to have a week of grief.
While we are hopeful that Marley will suffer no long term impact as a result of yesterday's accident, let there be no mistake that she is at risk. We hope a future incident can be prevented, and the program and school district's integrity can be protected.
To illustrate these points this exploration utilizes the context of the Hillsborough stadium disaster. This disaster involved the crushing deaths of 96 individuals at a football game at Hillsborough stadium in 1989 (Taylor, 1989). There are many easily identifiable factors that contributed to this disaster
What do you envision when I say “Mental Disorder”? What kind of person do you see in your mind? A sickly old man stuck on the road? A dispirited young woman bound to her home? Whoever you’re picturing is probably a stranger; one of 450 million strangers who have a mental disorder in the world.
If you are anything like me, you probably have voices in your head that are constantly giving you negative messages;
