The Kardashians, who were they before the fame and why is the world all of a sudden trying to keep up with them? If you ask most people who are the Kardashians? Chances are they would be able to define them. The family is widely known for their hit T.V show on E! Network called “Keeping up with the Kardashians.” The show describes the lifestyle of a family who have been notorious for being the attention among of the public. Although, the Kardashians are in the media limelight for all the wrong reasons, the show continues to generate a strong fan base even if they lack true talent. The Kardashian clan continues to attract millions of fans due to their various clothing lines, books, and T.V shows each year. This family is tremendously rich and …show more content…
This magazine broadcast the family’s personal anguishes to the public, making them seem as if they are only famous party girls. Even though all of these accusations are not true, the family has had some rather humiliating moments. Prior to the premier of the family’s first hit show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian’s adult film with singer R Jay, current boyfriend at the time, was released to the public. The company Vivid Entertainment got ahold of the tape and began selling it to the community. Kim sued, and in return her “naughty-time notoriety” essentially became the marketing benefit for the television show. The show “Keeping up with the Kardashians” was made for reasons more than just to have a gain in income. This show was a way for this American family to tell their story through their own eyes, and explain that even though they are not all perfect, they are a family, and they stick together no matter what. Together this crazy cluster of a family meant well, but they soon became known as the “Brady Bunch of the 21st Century”, and that title described them perfectly. They had become the new “hit” family, and they would only continue to grow in success from …show more content…
For example, Kim cannot act or dance, yet she is still outstandingly famous. Not only did they produce one reality TV show, but they also produced three spinoffs of the show: Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim take New York, and Khloe and Lamar. Not only did one season of Keeping up with the Kardashians bring in over twenty eight million dollars alone, but it also drew in over three million viewers a week. “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding” brought in a total of four million viewers, to watch the story of the beginning to Kim and ex-husband Kris Humphries’ short marriage. People will rant that this family is “famous for being famous”, but some people, such as Jessica Iredale, believe quite the opposite. So despite the lack of talent this family may have, their setback has not set them back one
Some of us would say “No”, but the majority of us would leap on the prospect of living the life of a celebrity. Who doesn’t want the perks of vacationing all over the world, having someone wait on you hand and foot, receiving freebies from designers and all the other perks that come with being a celebrity? The question is do we want the downfalls that come with fame? Can we handle vicious tabloid scrutiny, fabrications, and assumptions? Being a celebrity has its perks, but at what cost? Fame and money can be the root of all evil. Never the less, we are contributing to the madness when we purchase tabloid magazines, watch entertainment shows that follow celebrity activities and judge them for their actions.
The kardashians are like Aristotle, they are born into the fame and lifestyle that as they go on with life, they expect the best. Vincent Van Gogh is like Epictetus, they both started from a small and as time went by there work became known. Even though they are still well known, only Epictetus had to work for his name. Aristotle still had challenges he had to overcome but he will never be able to say I went through this situations so I know what you're going to as Epictetus can.
Another key element of the Kardashian family's fame is definitely the very famous reality tv show about them, Keeping Up
Jeremy, your thorough discussion of the research process, as well as the examples of sample questions to ask to gain data to the popularity of each The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is an exemplary plan. Also, the use of charts and graphs as you mentioned is a strategic visual introduction of the data collected. As a matter of fact, those two shows have been televised for an extended amount of years. Namely, Oprah Winfrey has hit almost 25 years of existence on network television (Oles, 2010, para. 1). Furthermore, Oprah Winfrey has gained paramount success, as well as influence over her fans (Oles, 2010, para. 2). As a result, “her personal image affects her company’s image” (Oles, 2010, para. 4).
It is quite apparent that we live in a society with a “Sex Sells” mentality. This
Celebrities are a huge element in today’s society that a world without them is even hard to imagine because we are so accustom to seeing them all the time and everywhere we go whether it is in television, magazines and especially in social media. They have this power that we, as a society allow them to have and they are able to influence us all in different ways sometimes without themselves even realizing the impact they have. The role they have is so huge that we are constantly wanting to know everything about them, what they wear, what they eat and what they are doing. Celebrities are a part of our culture and it is hard to ignore the fact that we look up to them, it is as if they were up on a pedestal making them so much more important
Celebrities give up privacy, freedom, and a normal life. However, they obtain attention, money, and glory. The devil provided his secondhand man, but received another soul for his hell. Many people aspire to fame; in return, many of those people will allow themselves to be used or they will compromise who they are to meet those aspirations. The majority of people feed the obsession for celebrities and fame.
Some shows give teens the impression that the value of women is based on looks instead of true self. For example, Keeping up With The Kardashians promotes self-beauty more than self-worth. In the episode “That Was Then This Is Now” Kim encourages Khloé to do a very sexy photo shoot. Keeping up With The Kardashians also promote drama, aggression, and bullying. In the episode “All About Meme” The girls start to make peace with Rob's new relationship, but feelings get hurt when Rob starts making jokes on social media. While some reality TV shows place emphasis on sex appeal, partying, and relationships, they do not emphasize the fact that many women on these shows are highly intelligent and successful in their real lives. In today’s time, television has a broad array of shows. These programs range from children’s cartoons all the way to real-life dramas. Reality television portrays families in their everyday lives and how the typically handle dramatic situations. Although there is some truth in the family’s lifestyles and relationships, reality television creates a false interpretation of the way everyday families should live; moreover, the producers construct staged scenes, unrealistic images, and promote immorality.
This essay will be exploring the territory of the American docu-soap. A docu-soap is essentially a television documentary series where the lives of the people filmed are presented as entertainment or drama. The television programme I will be focusing on, which fits into this genre is the reality TV show “Keeping up with the Kardashian’s.” Keeping up with the Kardashian’s has aired on “E!” since October 2007. E! Entertainment channel is a channel most known for reality TV dramas and focuses on celebrities. The docu-soap I am focusing on is about the personal and professional lives of the Kardashian/Jenner Family. It’s main focus is on ‘tabloid princesses’ Kim, Kourtney and Khole Kardashian, and their family led by “momager” Kris Jenner, with later seasons also focusing on younger sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. It originally originated with Ryan Secreast who is essentially the executive producer. The television show Keeping up with the Kardashian’s has a very loyal and engaged audience. The target audience for the show is men and women ranging from 18-34 years of ages. However the show does not only reach the target audience but young girls ages 15-17, women ages 18-49 and men ages 18-35. (E! Online)
Everyday life has a purpose for what and why we do things in our usual day such as hair and follow fashion trends. We enter a public sphere when going out into a crowded area, risking and exposing ourselves to the people around us. “Keeping up with the Kardashian’s” is a reality show that shows the lives of the Kardashian family and what they do in their day to day lives. As the audience, we watch these episodes on the television once a week. We get to have sneak peek around their houses and their private lives that has become not so private but publicised. Putting yourself out into the public eye is a big deal as you get exposed and get judged on every move.
Reality television has always been a fun pastime for Americans but when Keeping Up with the Kardashians aired the media, fashion, and America would never be the same. The first episode was aired in October of 2007 and was based around Kim Kardashian (Tikkanen). Kim Kardashian was the face of the show because she had recently had a sex taped released, which was making her the “it” girl at the time and the sex tape helped her family land the reality show (Tikkanen). The show showcases Caitlyn Jenner formerly know as Bruce Jenner, Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Robert Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Scott Disick. The entire family is attracted to drama and confrontations but Scott Disick and Robert Kardashian added a different dimension to the show because they openly talk about their struggles that they face internally.
I’m exhausted just thinking about it. It’s no wonder people look up to them so much; just look at all the amazing things they’ve done. 97.3% of people even believe that reality shows are very beneficial to us, which I completely agree with. Now for the other 2.7%, I don’t know what they’re thinking because between the lies, the cheating, the swearing, the screaming, the backstabbing, and the fights, it all teaches us great morals. We learn so many valuable lessons like how to keep a relationship, which Kim Kardashian is an expert at because she was able to keep her marriage for a whole 72 days. It also teaches us how to look pretty, as we’ve all seen on toddlers and tiaras, the only way to do that is by putting 17 pounds of makeup on a 3 year olds face until she looks like plastic. So clearly reality TV benefits us in countless ways, which is why we watch it so much, so why would you even bother wasting your time doing something so silly like homework or going outside when you could just watch a 5 hour marathon of the bachelorette or one of my personal favourites, Dance Moms every night. We literally just can’t get enough of reality TV and there is nothing more painful than having to wait 7 long hard and dreadful days until we see the next new episode of America’s next top model. And
The amount of time I have done or believed something due to the fact that a celebrity was in on it is unbelievable. Many of us now a days use social media websites such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and etc. Celebrities heavily influence people of all ages. If someone we look up to is doing something, we want to be a part of it. Many girls are obsessed with the Kardashian family, who have their own reality T.V. show among their own businesses. If one of the Kardashians is doing something new, the following day many of the people who watch their show are also doing it. For example, the Kardashian sisters, Kim, Kortney, Khloe, and Kylie started wearing waste trainers to modify their waste to look thinner. Even though many doctors suggested exercising over the waste trainer, a lot
There is an expression, ‘keeping up with the Jones or nowadays the Kardashians, and what that means is, the assumption would be that someone is attempting to obtain the same type of lifestyle or the same objects as someone else. Celebrities pay substantial amounts of money for fashion and designer product and many of them participate in campaign ads promoting different products. Celebrities make us think that if we purchase these items, we could be like the rich and famous. Often corporations make you think that if you buy their products, you can do and be better at life in general.
