We have all heard the saying reduce, reuse, and recycle from a very young age. But let’s face it, how many of us recycle? The world we live in is slowly filling up with the trash that we throw out every day. One day who knows, we might be living in our own trash and everywhere we look there will be trash. Is this a world where we all want to live in? If not, we need to take steps to prevent the buildup of trash in our landfills and even our oceans. Therefore, recycling needs to be encouraged because it reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills, prevents pollution, conserves natural resources, and creates jobs.

In recycling, raw materials that have already been obtained are used, which reduces the need for more materials to be extracted. If we recycle enough to slow the rate of extraction bringing it lower or equal to the rate that our resources replenish themselves we are living sustainable. This project is especially important because it focuses on recycling objects that take a lot of resources to make and that can't be organically broken

Recycling is a very essential and crucial process in our world today. The term recycling means that waste can be converted into new products instead of being discarded. As the population continues to grow, humans are using more and more products. In order to reduce the amount of waste on planet Earth, and to preserve its resources, recycling is significant. Not only does recycling allow the environment to thrive, but it also allows living people to thrive as well. There are many materials that can be recycled. Plastics, electronics, aluminum, food and glass are only but a few products that can be recycled. Recycling can benefit our environment in numerous amount of ways. However, without recycling, negative impacts on our environment can occur. Some of these effects include pollution whether it is air, land or sea, depletion of natural resources and even an increase threat to global warming. Therefore, recycling is extremely important to sustain our environment.

In the article “Should we throw away the recycling program?” The author states that “Recycling 1 ton of paper or aluminum cans, the agency says, can save about 3 tons of carbon dioxide emissions over producing new materials. Carbon dioxide, a gas, is produced during the recycling process and can lead to climate change.”This shows that recycling can cause climate change which causes global warming.This also shows that recycling is not always good for the earth.

Instead of being a country focused on self-betterment, we need to be geared towards societal-betterment. Recycling is an element to societal improvement because it decreases waste. Additionally, it allows for materials to be reused, so future generations can enjoyed the same resources. However, changing a societal dynamic is a monstrous goal. Therefore, immediate change needs to adapt to the millennial way of life.

Recycling provides 471,000 direct and indirect jobs for people in the U.S. This shows us that recycling keeps people employed and happy. As a rule, when there are many job options for people, the economy gets better. “Overall, the business of recycling represents nearly $106 billion in economic activity” (Wiener 1). This means that recycling helps the economy greatly and will make it stronger. As a final analysis, more recycling leads to more jobs and a stronger economy.

A very important component of recycling structural steel is mill production. The cradle-to-cradle nature of steel has caused an increase in efficiency and waste utilization of steel mills. The first reason to support recycling is it helps keep the environment clean and healthy. Just by recycling steel you can reduce 76% of the water pollutants, 86% of the air pollutants, and 97% of the mining wastes. By simply recycling, you save trees, historic statues and more, humans, ect. The author of the passage ‘Is it Possible to Create Zero Waste?’ stated, “In 2009, San Francisco, California, passed a law that called for zero waste, and made recycling and composting mandatory. By 2010 San Francisco had become the greenest city in the United States, keeping 80 percent of its waste out of landfills and incinerators.” This statement supports the fact that when San Francisco made recycling mandatory, 80 percent of waste was kept out of landfills, which keeps the environment cleaner.

The waste problem in our world has become atrocious. As explained in “A Dirty Dilema” by Zada Lipman, waste from factories is being dumped in rivers, lakes, and open areas with no one around it. In “The Truth About Recycling” written by Leo Hickman, it explains how waste is being checked for quality and how people are losing confidence about recycling. For my last article, "Recycling Rare-Earth-Metal Waste Using Hydrometallurgical Methods." by E. G. Polyakov and A. S. Sibilev, they explain how metals can be recycled for better use or better storage. Our environment is slowly being destroyed because of how we get rid of waste, but we are able to fix this problem.

Recycling helps the Earth and environment more than the average person realizes. Conserving energy, or finding more efficient and more eco friendly ways of getting energy also helps keep the Earth healthy. If more people recycle and factories and industries reuse their materials, the hunt for more raw materials will not be as necessary and harmful to the Earth. A lot of materials are not reused and instead new materials have to be brought in and that wastes not only materials but energy too. Recycling steel could reduce energy uses by 60% and easily help conserve a lot of energy. A ton of companies use steel so it would not be very difficult to do. A form of recycling that is not very well known is burning trash instead of burying it the way we do in the U.S.. Sweden practices this concept and their theory is that the majority of the things they burn in the fire were part of the carbon cycle not very long ago so it is as if they are speeding up the carbon cycle without hurting their environment. To reverse this flow, almost every country has decided to prioritize on recycling, which basically means turning used products into other usable tools or materials. However, it is usually different from one country to another, such as between Vietnam and Australia. This essay will consider the similarities and differences between the two, focusing on the recycling of plastic bags, scrap metals, and recycling infrastructures.

Air pollution both harms the earth and the people on it by contributing to global warming as well as respiratory diseases. That’s why every time people reduce waste, reuse, and recycle their garbage, they save the earth and even millions of lives from the harmful effects of pollution. Overall, requiring recycling will allow pollution rates to plummet and the environmental state of the earth to improve.
