A recent study, by Baur, Fehr, Mayer, Pawlu & Schaudel (2011) concluded that the growing demand in health sector, resulted in rapid change in patients’ expectations. As a result, meeting patients’ expectations, while maintaining standards and quality of healthcare service has been the crucial part in health sector. However, maintaining the service standards does not only refer to increasing the number of health professionals. Providing optimal care service to the patient, also contributes hugely in improving quality and standards of health service. Taking this thing in consideration, in 1994, continuing medical education (CME) programme was launched and it gradually broadened to cover professional education. Hence, in 2000, CME programme …show more content…
The HCPC, also expects all the health registered professionals to undertake CPD programme and comply to their five standards of CPD, to remain registered with them and for fitness to practise. If, under any circumstances, the health professionals fail to meet the standards of CPD, they may ask to remove their registration from the register (HCPC, 2014). However, as mentioned by the Society and College of Radiographers (2014, a), the importance of undertaking CPD is not just about maintaining registration with the regulatory body. CPD ensures that the knowledge and skill of health professionals are up-to-date and relevant, it ensures continue competence and monitors personal and professional effectiveness (Giri et al., 2012).
In a journal, by Shlom (2014), she stated, “The CPD model is cyclical and involves 4 phases: reflect, plan, learn, and evaluate.” Monitoring and recording activities, undertaken by health professionals as a part of CPD, serves as a tool for reflection and self-evaluation. It allows them to reflect on their learning/actions and identify their weakness and strength. It also gives them chance to evaluate the outcomes of their activities, learn from their mistakes/success and plan for the future from their experiences. Furthermore, by following

I also keep a CPD log and strive to ensure that as a professional I am keeping myself up to date with the sector, be it though the Pacey magazine, online courses or those that I attend ie First Aid, network meetings. I especially like the fact I have gained CPD hours and certificates for the effort I have put in to further develop, it has given me pride in my achievements
Individuals with learning disabilities used to be separated from society in institutions, long-stay hospitals and workhouses to be cared for, their independence was taken away and decisions were made for them by their care provider, which is now recognised as depriving their liberty. Care providers are now led by legislation, codes of conduct, policies and procedures to protect their liberty, human rights and provide equality and individualised person centred care. By looking at past ways of working, care providers are able to identify what was wrong in the service provision and identify ways of improvement to meet modern standards of care. This has helped to change the attitudes and beliefs within society, improving the individuals experiences

Healthcare is a complex industry that is consistently changing to meet the demand of improving quality patient care. As a member of the healthcare team, we are obligated to provide safe patient-centered care. However, patient care within the facility this nurse is employed is not as effective as it should be. The organization currently utilizes three different charting systems, two electronic health information systems and a paper chart. Each with its own purpose of use. To make matters worse, not all healthcare providers have access to both electronic health information system. Depending on the individuals professional role within the organization, access would be limited to one or the other. Nurses are the only one

Ideas and reforms for an improved access to high quality primary health care in Ontario: AOHC’s perspective
Professional identity is a socially constructed, contextual term which relates to the general awareness of the role a professional is expected to perform in a social setting while working as a health professional. Professionalism, within the health and human service sector, is similar to professionalism as it is construed, in a broader sense, in other work-places within society. It is a concept important in careers and businesses ranging from hospitality to health and human services. Professionalism, as a concept needing to be maintained, within the health sector, is exclusively based around improving health and wellbeing within society. The health and human service sector comprises a broad range of professions, including the discipline of physiotherapy. Physiotherapists, like other health professionals, have formed a professional identity through ongoing educational and developmental processes which allow the individual to understand their role as a professional; to provide high quality care to patients. A physiotherapists professional identity results from specialisation, as they have acquired exclusive skills and completed years of compulsory training which separate them from other occupations. A physiotherapists professional identity is further guided by key boundaries and codes set by the Physiotherapy board of Australia, which deliver an understanding and guidance to the profession.
Some hospital trusts and health authorities consistently outperform others on different dimensions of performance. Why? There is some evidence that “management matters”, as well as the combined efforts of individual clinicians and teams. However, studies that have been conducted on the link between the organisation
Health care systems are reporting and monitoring quality of care indicator data with increasing regularity.
Quality is one of the most essential elements of healthcare. As stated by the Agency of Health Research and Quality, “Everyday, millions of Americans receive high-quality health care that helps to maintain or restore their health and ability to function” (Agency of Health Research and Quality, 2014). Improvements have become vital to the success of health care organizations and in the Healthcare Quality Book, it is explained that quality in the U.S. healthcare system is not at the standard that it should be (Ransom, Joshi, Nash & Ransom, 2008). Although this has been a reoccurring issue, attempts to fix the insufficiency have been less successful than expected.
It is really important for an organisation to provide right equipment and sufficient resources for staffs to update their skills and learn new things so that they will be confident enough to give high quality care service to the patient, family and carers. Clinical governance should ensure staffs are well knowledgeable and trained to do a good job in the health care setting. REF
The health care has been a topic for endless debates for a long time in the United States. The government has tried many different ways and programs to improve provision of medical service for its people. Medicaid was one of these programs. Medicaid is a program that funds primary and acute medical services and a variety of other services. The program is financed by the federal government and the states. It is a mutual collaboration of two levels of the government to help with their health care coverage. The idea is incredible, the states and the federal government share responsibility and help people. However, the implementation of this idea is not on the top level. The most important part of the implementation is a distribution of money. The government developed a mechanism and criteria of how money goes to the states but this system is far from perfection. The inefficient federal funding of the states for Medicaid is the problem that has to be solved.
