When in a job in the Sports therapy there are legislations that you must follow to make sure that you and your clients are safe in the workplace.
For example you must follow the health and Safety Act. This includes making sure that the equipment is kept clean and works properly if you have any machines. It is also important to make sure that the environment you work in is safe as well, this could include no fumes around. If their is an accident then it is important that all patients and employees know the different safety procedures, they can learn this through information and training, eg. first aid training. All these different work placements will give you the experience so that when you leave university you will then be able to become a teacher when you leave.
Professional Training Routes:
To become a PE teacher you will need to make sure that you have obtained GCSE Maths, English, PE (and maybe science) Grade C or above. You will then have to go to college or sixth form and choose subjects which relate to being a PE teacher, such as A level or BTEC PE.
To become a teacher you will need to make sure that you have got qualified teacher status (QTS). The main way that you can achieve this is by going to university and studying a teacher training course with sport. An example of this is the university of Brighton and study Physical Education BA (Hons) with QTS.You could also study at the plymouth Marjon Uni Physical Education (Secondary Education) (with QTS) BEd (Hons). Once you have completed university and received qualified teacher Status you can then go into a teaching job in sport. You can then progress throughout this job. CPD throughout the career:
It is important you undertake CPD as it is where you learn new skills and experience. For example for a PE teacher it is important that you keep up to date on the constant changes to the National Curriculum and the new courses that become available within the subject.
CPD is kept as a record that you update to make sure that you continue your training and it will show how you perform as a professional and if you are still fit for the job. For example it could be a PE teacher attending a talk about first aid and health and safety.
There is a professional development in physical education. This is an association therefore it means that it is not compulsory to be a member off. Therefore the required professional development that you could attend workshops that can make you more up to date in ICT, or curriculum changes or new rules that could be added to a sport.

When completing continuing professional development, there are different types that could can take part in, in order to further your knowledge and

For example: Lengthening of working day, removal of taking screening breaks etc for meeting deadlines should be avoided. You must ensure that the significant hazards are identified, and that the actual working practices are addressed and if need be, changed so as to reduce any risk. This is both the responsibility of the employer and employee, for example it is the employees responsibility to familiarise themselves with the hazards and risks in their workplace.
Also to avoid dangerous moving and handling, the employees then have the responsibility of making sure they use all equipment as they have been trained to do so, follow all health and safety working practices within their workplace, avoid putting themselves, other staff, individuals or visitors at risk, and making sure they report any hazards or risks to their employer.
