I remember sitting in my advising meeting with my guidance counselor in high school talking about my Senior Packet. One of the questions she had asked me was “What do you want to be?” I remember answering her confidently and saying “I want to be a neonatal nurse.” For as long as I could remember, I always knew I wanted to be a nurse. My mother telling me about the amazing nurses that took care of me while I was a premature baby was so inspiring. I knew that I wanted to help people and work with babies. After getting rejected from every nursing program I applied to my senior year of high school I knew that my dream of becoming a nurse was going to be very difficult.
After applying to Salem State and still not getting into the major of my choice,
I want to do when I finish school. My mother always told me that I would be a babysitter, because I like to take care of kids. On the other hand, I thought that I wanted to be a teacher However, being a student for twelve long years I noticed how children behaved in school. In my mind, I knew that wasn’t the future job for me. When I was in the third grade, my grandmother had a stroke. Since she had gotten sick, I had to take care of her .This is what persuaded me to become a Registered Nurse.
My long term career goal is to be a neonatal nurse and work in the newborn intensive care unit in the next 5 - 10 years.
I am interested in becoming a neonatal nurse. Neonatal nursing is a different kind of nursing that is only involved with infants with many different problems such as prematurity, birth defects, surgical problems, infections, or cardiac problems. Even though neonatal is the first month after birth many infants continue to have problems for a couple months, some neonatal nurses care for the infant until they are two years old, others just take care of them until they are discharged, some of the infants that they cared for and helped them survive come visit the nurses with their families to thank them for all they had done for them when they were ill. As a neonatal nurse you face an abundance of responsibilities which they are all equally
Through the Weissman Scholar program I will finally be able to decide what college I would like to attend and pursue my dream of becoming a Neonatal Nurse. If I were to receive this scholarship it would boost my confidence knowing that I took on the responsibility of starting college with a strong foundation that will help me get on step closer to reaching my career goal. This program will push me forward and give me the ability to obtain a degree in Nursing and help me one day achieve my dream of becoming a Neonatal Nurse. Since very few of my family members went to college I find it very important to receive an education so you can have a brighter future. My parents have always struggled throughout my whole life to find the money to support
I want to be Neonatal Nurse because, I enjoy helping kids and babies, taking care of them and making a difference in their life.
For as long as I can remember, I have always dreamed of becoming a nurse. I knew that I wanted to be a nurse I was just not sure of what kind of nurse, but as I got older I grew to love babies and kids more and more. It then hit me, that I wanted to be a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse (NICU). Being born prematurely, and knowing by hearing stories and reading about the NICU has shaped me even more to want to be a NICU nurse. I know that with being a NICU nurse involves a lot of time and dedication, but that does not matter. I am always asked " How are you going to be able to handle being a NICU nurse", which leads to the response of "I know that it will be hard, but someone has got to do it". I have always been told that it takes someone
For me nursing was not something that I initially intended to do as a career. During elementary school and into high school I contemplated many different career paths such as cosmetology, teaching, psychology, and forensics. It was not till the later years of high school that I started to notice my desire to help other individuals and love of science, health, and different disease processes. My desire to help people has originated from the admiration of my grandfather’s
In my life I have thought about doing or being a lot of different things. But I think that I have made up my mind and when I get older I want to be a Neonatal Nurse. The reason as to why I want to become a “baby nurse” isn’t really exciting. I want to be a neonatal nurse because it sounds really interesting and it sounds like something I would actually enjoy doing for the rest of my life. Since I really want to become a nurse I would have to create a couple habits in order to obtain my goal. The first habit I would have to make is learning to listen to people better. I struggle with this because my brain is always wondering off and I can’t stay focused for a long time. I know they make medication for it and I have it, I just don’t take it even though I should. Another habit I would need to create is working better with others. I
I am a hardworking student who is highly motivated to go to college and pursue a nursing career. I try my best to be the most responsible person I can be by always completing all the duties and responsibilities that need to be completed. I am able to learn and memorize information in a short amount of time and be able to remember it afterward. These qualities can be very beneficial when it comes to succeeding in college. I am the type of person who does not give up and always tries to find a way out of any situation. I believe I am a very patient person and willing to help anybody and believe this is important when it comes to pursuing a nursing career. I believe the qualities I have developed throughout the years will help me be able to succeed
Joining sides with the nurse, my family drilled the idea of nursing into my brain. Nursing and forfeiting my plan seemed to become a necessity for a successful life. After hearing people tell me what I should do, I eventually started to agree with them. The actions of my family along with the way it affected me could compare to when someone tells a lie enough times, they'll believe it to be true. I never believed I wanted to be something more than I did at that
For the past six years, I have been around so many infants and toddlers that it is crazy. For some people, being around little kids all the time annoys them, but for me, I can’t wait until I see them again. Because of my love for being around small children, I decided that I want to do something with pediatrics. After doing some research, I found a specific job that I think I would absolutely love. That job would be a neonatologist.
What is an RN Doctor? A Registered nurses are team players and typically contribute to a larger medical team’s mission. Usually found in operating rooms, doctor’s offices, intensive care, ambulatory care, and clinics, RNs focus on patients care and providing the resources they need.
Growing up my dream was to become a nurse because I have always loved to take care of people. I also just knew when I finally started my nursing career I could save the world, While in nursing school, I quickly learned
My whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. I went threw millions of career choices before I came to the conclusion of a nurse. It’s not something that will get me into History books, but its something where all the people I help will remember what I did to care for them or their loved ones. My mom went to school to become and RN, but dropped out when she became pregnant with me. After that story was told to me, I didn’t want to be anything related to nursing. It wasn’t until my step mom went to school to be LPN that I realized it would be possible for me to do. I saw how much happiness it gave her, and I want the same thing. She loved helping the patients by treating them, and helping their families
First of all, I have dreamt of becoming a nurse my entire life. I told myself that I would graduate high school and go to college to receive my masters in nursing and become the best nurse that they have ever seen. It never donged on me how much schooling was involved in becoming a nurse until people would tell me. I'm not going to lie it scared me a little bit, but then I remembered that my mom was in her 40s when she decided to go to school to become a nurse.. I figured if she could do it, then I could as well. I knew that if I really wanted to become a nurse then I could as long as I put my mind to it. My mom inspired me in wanting to become a nurse. When I was about 5 or 6 yrs old I got to see my mom in action. I was rushed to the hospital due to a pneumonia. I was in there for about two weeks and my mom was my nurse. Even when they would have to switch shifts she would still come in periodically to check on me. The way she moved so gracefully. I knew that she loved her job. You felt the sincerity and how much she cared about her
