Through all of my accomplishments and disappointments, I have always been especially proud of the dedication and passion I have for my personal beliefs and values. If there is no struggle, there is no progress, with drive and a bit of hard work you can move mountains. Based on hard work and success, it goes hand in hand because life is designed to be tough. When I was 14 years old, I realized how important writing is in our everyday life. I realized that writing was something important in my life and it has changed my personal life. In my freshman year in High School during “Career Day,” one of the presenter who was a writer, helped me understand how important writing is.
There are many who strive to become famous writers and although some succeed, many do not find such great prosperity. In the words of bestselling author Stephen King, “while it is impossible to make a competent writer out of a bad writer, and while it is equally impossible to make a great writer out of a good one, it is possible, with lots of hard work, dedication, and timely help, to make a good writer out of a merely competent one,” (142). King’s thesis from his novel On Writing can be debated because with “hard work, dedication, and timely help” it is possible for a writer of any skill level to improve to become better. On Writing is intended to teach the basic skills of writing so readers can develop writing skills to progress to be better writers. If one has passion for writing, patience, and the willingness to learn they will succeed in becoming great writers.
“Once you take time to figure out your beliefs about you as a writer, and about writing itself, you can begin to see where you hold yourself back from actually writing in the first place (Litchfield-Fink).” The article “The Real Reason Why You Can’t Write” by Esther Litchfield-Fink, is going over how people that want to write or be writers, are limited by their beliefs. Esther goes over a “secret” about writing that helps overcome this problem and can make anyone a successful writer. With being optimistic and having positive beliefs you can accomplish your goal of being a writer.
Writing Is a kind of typing symbols, letters and other writing tools to help the writer communicate with the reader or connect his ideas. It is the fourth skill in language skills and the most one that needs creation and imagination. In this essay, I am going to write about the importance of developing writing.
Reading and Writing Throughout my life reading and writing have impacted my life in many different ways. It has helped me express myself. Reading and writing have never been my strongest subjects; however, if I find a book that spikes my interest, I would never put it down. Those books are the ones that have impacted my life so much and how I think about life.
Why I Write, by Mark Batterson, was a video that caught my attention because of the way he observes writing. Batterson sounded enthusiastic about writing for passion rather than just money, or being the best-seller. He make the viewers see writing from a new window, or maybe his words really affected me. When Batterson mentions, “ If all people do is read my books, then I have failed them… I want my words to inspire people” (Batterson 0:29-0:37). When he said this, I was like wow! I had never tought of myself failing, yet we both have the same purpose which is to be there for our readers; help them out discover, and cause motivation. Indeed he has encouraged me into writing in anew way. I want my writing to be powerful and motivating even
Everyone on the planet has a goal set in life, but only a handful attempt to improve to obtain their goal by studying the subject their goal is in. In my English class, English 101 this quarter I was astonished by how much I had progressed as a writer sharpening my writing skills and also learned a lot about writing that I hadn’t learned before. In my writing portfolio for this quarter I had to write an autobiography essay, a research essay, and this reflection essay to develop my writing skills better. The writing assignments were fun to do because it challenged me to work on essays of different styles that were new to me. The essay assignments helped me grow as a better writer that gave me the self-confidence and skills to take on the world on my own.
My ideas on writing have not changed now that I have completed the second essay. I still believe that writing is for the writer and the audience. Writing is for evoking emotion and ideas. I see writing as completely worthless if it will not impact the writer or reader in a beneficial way. This second essay I have struggled with because it goes against a lot of what I believe writing is supposed to do.
In this course, I enhanced my reading and writing skills. Reading and analyzing stories allowed me to become a better critical thinker. Beside, Learning to review and identify errors with the help of my peers and my instructor improved the quality of my writing. Also, I gained valuable practice in evaluating the credibility of sources that I would include in my writing. Finally, I also want to thank this class since I become more confident in my writing and my reading abilities
“To write to be a writer, I have to trust and believe in myself as a speaker, as a voice for the images. I have to believe that can communicate with images and words that I can do it well. A lack of belief in my creative self is a lack of belief in my total self and vice versa- I cannot separate my writing from any part of my life. It is all one” (95).
Through this creative writing class, I gained a newfound respect for writing. Writing had allowed me and continues to allow me to see the world through a different perspective; with this thought in mind, I decided I would no longer allow creative writing to be placed on the backburner in my life. When the outside world goes to shambles, I know I can turn to writing to help me make sense of what is happening and to escape life’s troubles even if only
Before I even knew how to read, my mother would often lecture me about the importance of writing. She would incessantly tell me about the power of writing. To further prove her claims about the significance of writing, she would say things such as “An entire person’s life can be change by a single phrase” or “Being able to write makes you different from the average person.” At first, I was honestly not interested in what she was telling me, but today, especially as I am at the doorstep of college, I fully understand why she emphasized the value of good writing to me. My mother is the reason why I have become a good writer.
¨A thunder of the battle spreaded through the battlefield. Horns called brave heroes to fight till the last drop of blood. Dark shadows covered a blue sky piece by piece, and a last hope was hidden behind black clouds. A sound of thousands and thousands of weapons echoed from East to West, from South to North. Rain started pouring its heavy waters on courageous warriors, and...¨ I stared into this ¨and¨ without any idea what followed after that. I stood up: my body was sore after few hours of non-stop writing. My body felt a need in stretching or going for a walk, but I personally felt a need in a 5th cup of hot tea and a bag of cookies, so I could continue writing my story.
There is a multitude of jobs and careers I want to have, as some of you may know, but I think we’re only allowed to talk about one. However, there is one job in particular that I know that I’ll do, whether I’m paid for it or not. That job is writing. Not only do you need language skills, but I believe that you will need creativity and an immense amount of patience in order to be a successful writer of any sort.
From a very young age, writing has been a passion of mine. Through writing I have developed an
Writing has always played a huge role in my life. I’ve been reading writing for as long as I can remember as I have an immense love of reading. This love would grow into a love for writing as well; I still stumble upon journals and writings from my five-year-old self about the happenings in my kindergarten class. As time would go on I would discover academic writing, and how to convey my thoughts on what was the topic of student that particular year or semester in my schooling. Later, writing would become a constant for me, and a comfort; I was known to my friends as always having a journal, and a pen on my person. I learned to write down my feelings and my thoughts, song lyrics that were in my head, reflections for the day. I learned how
