Group one: Madame Hoo, “cook,” and Jake Wexler “Bookie,” say they hadn’t come up with an answer, and in a panic Jake tells Madame to say anything “boom” is their answer. Group two: Flora “dressmaker,” and Turtle “financier,” still believe the answer is whoever makes the most money; “$11,587.50” is their answer. Group three: Chris, “ornithologist” and Denton, “intern,” answer “Westing was a good person..” and say no more. At group four Judge, “Judge,” and Sandy, “fired,” say they don’t have an answer though Judge had a strong suspicion. At group five: Grace, “restaurateur,” and Mr. Hoo, “inventor,” gave the answer “Ed Plum.” At group six: Crow, “mother,” and Otis, “deliverer,” Crow is shocked to find someone wrote “mother” as her description when Otis ass for the answer all she does is repeats “mother.” At table seven Doug Hoo, “champ,” and Theo, “writer,” don’t know the answer either so they go with “no answer.” Moving on, at group eight Sydelle, “victim” and Angela, “person” Sydelle gets up to start singing “America the Beautiful” at first Sydelle seems crazy but then each group begins to hear the clues in the song and believe Sydelle and Angela have won. They give the answer “Otis Amber” Plum reads a document from the game instructions, then announces that everyone should go to the

Looking around at our table of people it was pretty serious. Everyone there was a very competitive person and wanted to win yet only 2 of the 6 of us won at this point. When the last round of bingo started the number callers said it was going to be a blackout, in bingo that is when you have to cover your entire board to win, as they said that we knew we had a very high chance to win. Soon we got to some of the final numbers and people started calling out bingo. We still never got a bingo until the last couple of numbers. When people started winning the crowd started to get louder and more talkative. Soon we ended up winning and we got loud and happy. In the end all of us ended up getting a bingo. Liz won chapstick, Taylor got fruit snacks, and I won a box of Kraft Mac-and-cheese.

“King of the Bingo Game” by Ralph Ellison revolves around an unnamed black protagonist, in the 1940’s, who desires to win the bingo game which occurs at the local cinema, in order to win the grand prize to pay for a doctor for his severely ill wife. Ellison depicts the presence of the white hierarchy and its devastating impact on the black protagonist through a political statement portraying the great injustices that affect African Americans. Ellison depicts how social status plays a role in how the protagonist feels when he is called up stage and his hostile treatment from the white audience in the balcony that vocalize derogatory remarks to the protagonist. The game of chance and the odds of the double-zero represent not only the false sense of hope, but also the constant reminder of the narrow probability that one must receive to win the prize. The themes of the illusion of success and false hope demonstrate the feeling of hopelessness and disparity the protagonist faces as he is chosen for a contender on essentially a game of life and death. Through the use of diction and symbolism, Ellison illustrates the prejudicial society the black community must compete in with the slim possibility of opportunity in a white man’s world.

Ralph Ellison’s “King of the Bingo Game” is the story about an unnamed black man, in the 1930’s, who is hoping to win the bingo game that is being held at the local cinema, in order win enough money to pay for his gravely ill wife to see a doctor. The central idea of this story is about race, and the inability for a person to be the master of his or her own destiny, when they live in an unfair and prejudicial system.

In the fiction story, “King Of The Bingo Game,” by Ralph Ellison, tells the story of how the narrator is racially profiled. It tells the story of an African American in the 1900’s and how they were treated. One may think that the setting took place at an actual bingo hall, but others may think that the narrator was in fact in a mental institute. Instead of playing bingo, the narrator is in psychotherapy session. It is believed that the narrator, through symbolism, is presenting symptoms of a mental illness. Whereas the narrator is playing bingo, the story symbolizes a psychotherapy session in place at a mental institute, displaying symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia.

Ideas of slavery, identity, and what is acceptable behavior differ greatly in the past-Civil War North and South. Ralph Ellison’s “King of the Bingo Game” depicts how traditional southern slave mentalities are in conflict even after Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation of the slaves, leading many, like the nameless main character to try and find a new identity and giving him a taste of power to control his life and the lives of others.

When he actually wins bingo the story goes from metaphor to reality. As he steps on stage the men on stage berate him with racial slurs, as does the crowd. They call him ?boy,? and say that ?he?s one of the chosen people.? People yell, ?Are you all-reet,? and the announcer says ?So you decided to come off that mountain to the U.S.? All of this confuses the man because he is so consumed with the desire to win the money that he can not understand they are making fun of him. He cautiously grins, knowing that they are probably making fun of him, but he is consumed with his own anxiety.

In Ralph Ellison's "King of the Bingo Game", the African American narrator, whose name is unknown, finds himself in a position where he has the power to control his own destiny for once, or so he thinks. The reader learns that he is from the South, but has come up North, and is taking his shot at a bingo game. He is broke, hungry, his wife is dying, and he hopes to win the cash prize of $36.90 to help her. He eventually is called up to spin the wheel for a chance at the prize, but he freezes, and doesn't let go of the button. This is despite the fact that he explained how a short, quick press can land a winning double zero. He calls himself the "king of the bingo game" and keeps holding down the button until two officers drag him off

Deborah Reber a famous poet once stated, “Letting go doesn't mean that you don't care about someone anymore. It's just realizing that the only person you really have control over is yourself.” Letting go of a loved one is never an easy decision to make because in reality, decisions will not keep the loved one alive. By allowing a loved one to be at peace, a person gives allows himself the opportunity to be at peace with whatever trial he faces. In “King of the Bingo Game” author Ralph Ellison includes the bingo wheel, the beam of light, and bingo button to act as symbolism, to show the trials he was facing in life.

there is quiet conversation between friends. Mr. Summers, who runs the lottery, arrives with a black box. The original box was lost many years ago, even before Old Man Warner, the oldest person in the village, can remember. Each year Mr. Summers suggests that they make a new box, but no one is willing to go against tradition. The people were willing to use slips of paper instead of woodchips as markers, as the village had grown too large for the wood chips to fit in the box. A list of all the families and households in the village is made, and several matters of who will draw for each family are decided. Mr. Summers is sworn in as the official of the lottery in a specific ceremony. Some people remember that there used to be a song and salute as part of the ceremony, but these are no longer performed. Tessie Hutchinson arrives in the square late because she has forgotten what day it was. She joins her husband and children before the lottery can begin. Mr. Summers explains the lottery’s rules: each family will be called up to the box and draw a slip of paper. One of the villagers tells Old Man Warner that the people of a nearby village are thinking about ending the lottery. Old Man Warner laughs at the idea. He believes that giving up the lottery would cause nothing but trouble, and a loss of civilized behavior. A woman responds that some places have already given up the lottery. Ralph Waldo Ellison is a famous American novelist and his novel Invisible Man won the National Book Award in 1953 ("King of the Bingo Game”). The story takes place in a Bingo Hall up North during the great Migration, in the 1940s (Ellison 242). The story belongs to the satire genre using the third person point of view. The tone of the whole story is sad. Ellison uses characters and symbolism to explore the theme of the hopelessness of people in front of their destiny and the discrimination of the African Americans in the unequal society of America in the 1940s.

King of Bingo Game with a man in a movie theatre watching a movie he has seen before. The man is hungry but he can smell peanuts being eaten by a woman sitting in front of him. He thinks of asking the woman for a peanut and she would give him one. He also thinks the same about men sitting on his right taking wine. He doesn’t have money and his wife Laura is sick and dying. Watching the movie he admires how the characters in the movie can be able to escape from their problems but for his case, he cannot. He also thinks of what would happen if the woman in the movie were to take off her clothes (Ellison, 1944).

If you were playing there will be a card called named ¨la pera¨ (the pear) if someone has that on their mat then they put a bean on it . so you keep filling in the spaces when the card on your mat is called. Then when you fill up your whole mat you yell out ¨bingo¨ or ¨I win¨ that's what the kids get to say if they win. Also in some games you get to place money in the middle, so when someone wins they earn money.

In the fictional short story “The Lottery,” by Shirley Jackson, on June 27th a small village gathered together to participate in the annual lottery, an old village tradition, conducted by Mr. Summers, the lottery official. During the lottery, the head of each household in the village draws one slip of paper. Whoever draws the slip of paper with the charcoal dot on it is sacrificed for the crop season. This time it was Mr. Hutchinson, who drew the dire slip of paper. So then each member of his household had to draw, including his three small young children, Bill, Jr., and little Dave.
