First, my religion is Christian. We celebrate Christmas as the birth of christ. We celebrate Easter as the day Jesus rose from the grave. We believe that Jesus is the lord and savior. He rose from the grave on the third day and anyone who accepts Jesus as their lord and savior will go to Heaven. My religion affects me by what I believe in, how I live my life, and when and what I do. My religion is the religion that has all the different bible verses. My favorite one is “Accept the lord, build the house, they labor in vain that build it.” Meaning if you do not accept the Jesus as your lord and savior, then you and your house will not be protected by God.
Patti warned me that the members of the church do not interact with each other very much, and that they weren’t necessarily friendly. This did not seem to be the case today, as many of the “sisters” came over to speak to Patti, and to “meet” her friend.
Religions affect the lives of its followers greatly because if you're a Muslim you have to pray five times a day, if you're a Jew you can't have any other gods, and if you believe in Buddhism you have to follow the middle path to stop suffering. All these rules you have to follow can take away time from you and can make you give up stuff you have, even make you leave money behind.
Throughout civilization, religions have come a long way in impacting modern society and civilization. One of the major Abrahamic religions, Islam, has made many advances and has contributed a variety of concepts, ideas and inventions to western civilization. Most of these contributions have gone unnoticed throughout the years, and have been credited by various people, when in reality Muslim scholars have formulated these concepts. Although some may believe that these contributions are irrelevant, the reality is that most of the everyday concepts humans use all around the world, have been derived from a primarily Islamic school of thought.
Religion is held sacred to everyone in the world. Every possible identification someone could label themselves is, in a way, a religion. Throughout history, it can be seen that it has affected many decisions. Religion has been the cause of wars, massacres, murders, expansion of land, and more. Every religion has some sort of rules that it goes by, even if those rules are that there are no rules, and they each have some sort of head (god or gods or none). For Catholics, Pope Francis is the oracle for God. Hence, Catholics look to Pope Francis for guidance in many areas of their lives. The Pope is seen making many speeches on many occasions. For each speech, he has a certain agenda. He seems to speak for major events or sectors in the world. Pope Francis adds his input of what God believes in to be right and just. However, do the Pope’s words have actual meaning, or is he just trying to make Catholic followers feel better? In many of his speeches, it can be seen that he doesn’t provide a true answer to many things other than to love one another and to wait for a better life in the afterlife. Even if he does give some input that could be seen as valid information for politics or economy, should Catholics trust his word to make their decisions when he is not an expert in anything but Catholicism? Pope Francis is an example to Karl Marx’s theory of religion. “It is the opium of the people” (insert citation for Criticism of Hegel’s Philosophy).
Religion is something my culture takes pride in. I am a Roman-Catholic and the Catholic church plays an important role in my life. When I go to church it makes me feel relieved. Everyone i’m surrounded by are so into the church and it only makes me more confident in my beliefs of god. The ROman catholic church ties back to my culture because everyone in my family is catholic and we make it a tradition to go to church every two weeks. It means alot to me because when I was in a bad place, I would always go to church and pray that everything just gets better for me, my family, and others in need and it
The essay I will talk to you about the decision that impacted my life. We have all had to make the decisions in some part of the life. The decision I had to make with myself was the profession I went. The profession will deal greatly with the management field and created a interest when I was in the high school. I had already taken some courses that had dealt with the field that I am currently in. Now I had to gain knowledge about the business world and the daily operations of the field. I took the initiative of knowing this process to develop myself as a business person. People in the business field are looking for the right training to pursue the passion of opening up. I would also have to take part in the journey for doing this type of job. I have to know
What we truly believe of ourselves do reflect our true image to the society like good or bad, rich or poor, and right or wrong . It is obvious, nothing is important to us as the concept of us to hold of ourselves. We should all learn our self-image by ourselves either learning from our experiences, observations,or experimenting alone. Unfortunately, most people are afraid to be self-reliant, afraid to take a chance on their own good luck, instead preferring to learn their self-image from the eternal ignorance of their families, society, and their peers.
In the past 15 years of my life, I have not been able to make many major decisions, although I have been forced to make decisions that have affected my life in some negative ways. In September of 2014, I met a boy named Mark, at first I thought he was ok, but we were the only kids there, so we hung out the whole night. About a year went by and we never talked, but then he started bowling with my brother and during this time, we got into a few verbal fights. So it got to the point where I did not want anything to do with him. Another 6 months went by and our parents started talking and a few days after that, he messaged me over Facebook out of nowhere asking me if I would be his girlfriend.
More than 7 billion people are living in this world, each person acquiring different characteristics, religion, and race. If each individual was taken and locked in their own cell, they would not be able to accomplish anything. We would have seven billion people, but a society would not exist. If each individual was freed from their cell, they would be able to interact with one another and share ideas. They would be able to share their differences and impact each other in positive and negative ways. A society is more than just the number of individuals available and how each one individually behaves or thinks. Without people interacting with one another and impacting each other, a society would not exist. Impacts come from social institutions such as family, education, and religion.
Holidays are when my family and friends gather together to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter. Thanksgiving is a special holiday my family celebrates to express gratitude, especially to God for everything we are thankful for and that He has blessed us with. Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas Day is celebrated with family and friends gathering together to eat a lot of food and open Christmas presents. However, Christmas is more than just food and presents. Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus. Christmas is a religious and cultural celebration not only for my family but for billions of people around the world. My family also gathers together to celebrate New Year’s. Many people think New Year’s Eve is just the end of a year and once January 2nd comes nothing will have changed. However, for my family, it represents hope. Maybe for someone, the year that is about to end might not have not been so great. One could hope that the New Year will bring new energy to the family and for them to move forward. The New Year could also enable the family to achieve a state of happiness that was not present in the past year. The last major holiday that is celebrated by my family is Easter Sunday. Along with my church, many churches hold special services on Easter Sunday, which celebrate the Jesus Christ's resurrection after his crucifixion. After church on Easter, my family and friends get together to eat dinner and watch the little children find Easter eggs. There is no doubt that these holidays play an important role in my
What religion am I? In my life, I have been told many things about my religion. My mother is a Roman Catholic, while my father is Jewish. I have learned about both religions, and I have tried to practice both as best I could, but I am now faced with the decision; which one am I?
This week was about religion impact on humans and world views, as matter of fact sometimes they are both closely connected. Many of collectivistic countries, especially in Africa, are also monotheistic. In class my professor said that many years ago, the big part of the world were collectivistic, people cared more about each other and they were more family oriented. Currently, both cultures individualistic and collectivistic are so distinct. One is family oriented, and the other is self oriented. Looking closer, individualistic people are obviously human doing because they are always busy trying to figure out what the future holds for them. They work tirelessly to achieve their goals which also take all time. In collectivistic culture also, people are no longer different from individualistic when it comes to time orientation. It is becoming more common that young people are leaving their family house early than it used to be for different reasons, education or work. This habit is becoming acceptable in our society because the education standards set on the labor market are higher. As my country’s government has set the masters degree, as the education level required to get a job in most of governmental institutions, people are working hard to get their masters degree and fit for the requirement.
For the past centuries religion has been a major force in the world and still continues to be one as there are billions of people that believe and follow a certain religion, but sadly religion has had a largely negative impact on the world today. As people continue to view religion in an unrealistic positive manner they continue to be deceived about its negative impact. During recent years there have been many headlines about how religion influenced people in performing terrible acts that oppress people or result in many lives being lost. Religion today is deeply embedded in people’s daily lives and plays a large role in countries, therefore when religion negatively impacts the world it affects millions of people worldwide and results in
My religion is Islam and because of Islam I have certain beliefs and bias in the religion. And it also effects my interpersonal communication. Some of the beliefs are listed such as arrange marriages, living a life with a family, praying, respecting the elders, giving importance to the poor people and orphans, clothing for women and men.
“We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.” (Dawkins 6). This essay is not going to be about whether or not god is real, but instead it is going to focus on religion and its followers. Religion has existed for thousands and thousands of years. Likewise, there are thousands of very different religions all over the world. Religion has slowly attached itself like a parasite into societies everyday life. It has connected and comforted many people over the years, but is religion actually useful anymore? The answer to that is a definite no. Religions have fought for years attempting to establish their dominance over one another and mankind. If religion was to disappear forever, then the world would find itself in a state of bliss.
