The play of the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, begins with two teenagers who fall in love, feud going on with their parents, get married in secret, and commit suicide within the same week. The two teens, Romeo and Juliet, did not think about any of their decisions clearly, and acted in very rash ways. Committing suicide, partaking in others deaths, and everything else that had happened all could have been avoided, it was not fate, destiny, or love, it was “lust” and quick irrational choices made. Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, a sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” (In Act 1, scene II, lines 52-53). This quote shows that Romeo does not love for personality or because he actually loves, but because …show more content…
This idea can quickly be disagreed upon because “ destiny” and “fate” are not stronger than their own wanting to do what they chose to do. For example, it is not fate that makes you want to go to college. It is a personal choice for why you went, unless you are being pressured to go. Even then it isn't fate that the other person is pressuring you to go, it is still their choice. But it is your choice to listen to others about going and going. Romeo and Juliet were not pressured into getting married secretly, murdering Tybalt and Paris, faking death, and killing themselves. It was not their destiny to go on with all this, it was their own irrational ideas and actions. Overall, the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, was not determined by “destiny” or by “fate” but by lust and teenage “love” better known as irrational personal choices. There is not a single example of fate or destiny in this play, it is all determined by the quick act of personal choice, and what they thought was real “love.” Romeo's act of killing Tybalt is what ultimately led to their demise, if Romeo would have thought about what he was about to do the play would not have ended that
In William Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet, we meet the characters and how their actions led to a tragedy. Romeo and Juliet met, end up falling in love, and – since both cannot dream of living without the other – take their lives. While the play ends in a tragic death for both characters, it was their own reckless decisions; though others might believe that it was destiny that played a large role in the lovers’ downfall. However, the majority of the text evidence points to them making their own choices leading to their demise.

Emotion When it comes to emotions, deciding if it is rational to incorporate them is important, but what happens if you don’t think of the consequences? Though, going off of rational thought is normally a better way to make sure decisions come out as positive, trusting intuition in key moments can save more than any rational thought ever could. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, many characters' actions are influenced by their emotions, in which some use rational thought to make it through their lives, while others live off of their emotions. Throughout the play Romeo and Juliet go through most actions based on their emotions, this can have positive consequences but as the play progresses

William Shakespeare is one of the most well-known authors for his famous tragedies. He uses many techniques, like fate, that lead to these endings. However, in Romeo And Juliet, timing seems to be more of his approach. He makes plans so perfect that they must go wrong. Decisions seem to be made to ruin the time frame of the game.
The consequences of relying too much on your heart instead of your head According to several studies by Westside Toastmasters International, up to 90% of the decisions we make are based on emotion, and that we use logic to justify our decisions to ourselves and others. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, the main characters rely on their emotions for decision-making throughout the storyline. In this Shakespeare play, two star-crossed lovers get married without anyone knowing. Their love is forbidden because of an arranged marriage, and they both end up killing themselves because they can’t be together.
“Romeo and Juliet” is a popular play written by William Shakespeare, consisting of a long-running family feud between two households: the Capulets’ and the Montagues’. Romeo comes from the Montague family while Juliet was born into the Capulet household. The star-crossed lovers inevitably take their lives by the end of Shakespeare’s eminent play, but was this ending due to an act of fate or choice? According to “Decision-making is Still a Work in Progress for Teenagers”, the teenage brain is less capable of acting rationally in emotional situations. This is due to the fact that the frontal lobes in the brain are not fully developed until the mid to late twenties.
Romeo and Juliet is a romantic drama play written by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet is about two characters that love each other, but have families that hate each other and forbid their love. The two love each other so much that they get married in secret. When Juliet is forced to marry Paris she goes to the Friar to get a fake death potion that will make her seem dead for a few days until Romeo gets a message from Friar John to come back and wake Juliet up. Friar John doesn’t get the note to Romeo so Romeo hears the bad news and kills himself.
When people are in love, they sometimes make rash decisions and think the world is against them. Romeo and Juliet: act two scene two, is a play written by William Shakespeare in the 1590s. Romeo, while hiding from his friends after a party, stumbles upon the Capulet house. Romeo happens to be in the garden under Juliet’s balcony, and he speaks to her after hearing her call out his name. When young people are in love, especially for the first time, they tend to make illogical decisions without thinking through the consequences or considering other options.
First things first, Romeo and Juliet could have made decisions that would have led to a different outcome. Their whole entire “love” was drastically rushed into. They knew each for a whole day before they decided to get married. There is no way that anybody falls in love that quickly. It's not just the matter of time that could have prevented a few unnecessary events, but also Romeo’s repulsive “player” behavior.
In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the characters often make decisions without thinking first because they are put on the spot or they feel that their time with another person is short. This leads to many complications in the play, such as Romeo killing himself after seeing Juliet “dead” even though she isn’t. Romeo even says “And death’s pale flag is not advanced there.”, yet he kills himself anyway. Only hours after meeting Juliet, Romeo asks Friar Lawrence to marry them. Friar Lawrence, an older and wiser figure tells Romeo that getting married after having just been “in love” with Rosaline may not be the best course of action, yet Romeo, young and a hopeless romantic, is persistent.
Throughout the play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, much like every play, characters make decisions. Every Decision has a motive and a consequence. Even when the characters have motives made of goodness, it can end up creating more negativity than positivity. One of the characters who this can can be seen with Romeo who loves Juliet. After Tybalt confronted Romeo, Romeo tried to keep the peace, in hopes of not hurting Juliet.

In this play, the two lovers, Romeo and Juliet, meet at a party, fall in love, and marry in secret. However, disaster strikes and they both ultimately die. “For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo”(Shakespeare 478). Take a moment to think about this question:Which has a greater impact on the characters in the text: destiny or person choices? In the The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe the characters personal decisions are what caused the greatest impact on them. Personal choices had a greater impact on the characters in these texts. The first reason why personal choices had a greater impact on the stories characters is because if they had never made these decisions then destiny would have not had to take place.
In Act I, scene 5, Benvolio convinces Romeo to go to the Capulet’s party to get over Rosaline and see other people, this will prove to be a good choice because Romeo will end up meeting Juliet. Once he arrives at the party, he sees Juliet and immediately falls in love. Their first interaction ends with them kissing, Romeo says “Sin from my lips”. O trespass sweetly urged! Give me my sin again.”
Fate, some believe in it, but others do not. The classic story Romeo and Juliet uses the topic of fate to raise an argument of whether fate is leading Romeo and Juliet to make the decisions that they make, or if it is their own choices that decide what their life will be. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet’s death was not caused by fate but rather by their impulsiveness, immaturity, and strong emotions. Throughout the story, Romeo and Juliet make quick and unnecessary decisions that harm them more than help them.
