Martin Luther King Jr was and is a big part of history today. He stopped racism in 1963 with his big speech taken place in the March Of Washington called, “ I Have A Dream”. He had a big impact on many peoples lives. Martin Luther King Jr was Born On January 15,1929 in Atlanta, Georgia by Alberta Williams and Michael Luther King Sr. Martin’s name used to be Michael Luther King Before his father changed it to Martin in honor of the sixteenth-century German church reformer Martin Luther. Family, Church, and Education were the central forces shaping King’s early life. Martin was a middle child, between an older sister, Willie Christine King, and a younger brother, Alfred Daniel Williams King. Martin sang at his church choir at the 1943 Atlanta premiere of the movie “Gone With The Wind”. When King was a child, he befriended a white boy whose father owned a business near his family's home. When the boys were 6, they attended different schools, with King attending a segregated school for African-Americans. King then lost his friend because the child's father no longer wanted them to play together. King suffered depression throughout much of his life, at age 12, Martins maternal Grandmother died and he blamed himself and jumped out of a second story window, but he survived with no minor injuries. King was booked in room 306 at Lorraine Hotel. At 6:01 P.m on April 4, 1968, King was shot standing on his Motels second story Balcony. The bullet entered through his right cheek, smashing his jaw, then traveled into his spinal cord before going into the shoulder. After emergency chest surgery, King was pronounced dead at St. Josephs hospital at 7:05 P.m.
