How Did Martin Luther King Impact Society

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. not only was a church leader and a civil rights activist but also, an author that wrote many pieces that had such an impact on society, they are still famous to this day. Without King’s great work we wouldn’t have the changes we do, by getting into people's emotions causing them to see how bad things truly were. The way King uses pathos by reaching into people emotions, is why he has had such a major effect on society. Like any other great leader he reached people in other ways, not just with people's emotions but with facts and evidence to proof his ideas. Although King was very a very strong writer with his emotions from first hand experience, some people believe that he stronger when he used actual facts in his writings. Any writer knows that you always start out your writings with a strong intro, so when King started out his “I Have A Dream” speech with a fact, he must have been very confident with that style of writing. “ Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation (King 261)”. One of the things King said that affected people’s views on society were, “We can never be satisfied as long as Negro is the victim of unspeakable horrors of police brutality (King 263), since saying this, African Americans have been treated much better by police and other cultures. Like what was said before, King was good at helping people realize how bad things really were especially when he said this, “Too long has our beloved Southland been bogged down in a tragic effort to live in a monologue rather than a dialogue (King 274)”, this helped helped see people see that there was no unity in the country.
