The Crusades were vital in launching Europe out of the dreary Middle Ages and into the Renaissance. The Crusades jumpstarted development in Europe by introducing new/old ideas and thrusting it into the affairs of the Muslim World. Originally, the Crusades were launched to recapture the holy land for Christianity. The later Crusades were launched with other, more dubious, goals in mind but despite never recapturing the holy land, the crusades were extremely successful. The crusades incited a tremendous exchange of ideas from the Muslim world to Europe. These ideas proved to be significant in delivering Europe into the Renaissance, which was a period of immense intellectual growth. In turn, the Renaissance helped advance Europe into the powerhouse
In the transition of the mediaeval times, one of the most important thing that occurred were the Crusades. Crusades that have a debatable point of view according to the influences that such created in the western world. Many historians think that the Crusades had a positive influence in Europe, but others do not agree with this idea. The Crusades started because of the Byzantine emperor who asked for help against the Seljuk Turks, who were Muslims. From there is the first negative consequence, and was that time after the same Crusades sacked the Byzantine empire because was the greatest commercial competitor. Furthermore, there are evidences which ones imply that
Three of the world’s most powerful religions had gone to war during the Crusades, the same war that is responsible for an estimated 1.7 million deaths. The Crusades were a series of Christian military expeditions that lasted through nine Holy Wars. The first crusade, in 1095, was called upon by Pope Urban II in an attempt to stop the Muslim expansion to the Holy City of Jerusalem. Through this, the Christian, Catholic, and Muslim churches will go into a time of warfare as an attempt to both show their religious superiority and have a religious expansion. The western side of Europe was the most significantly impacted by the Crusades because of the 4th Crusade, the foreign influence from the East, and Europe’s economic relations with the world.
First of all and one of the most obvious reasons the results of Crusades was cynical, is for the reason of committing one of the most bloody murders ever in history from the account of rage and destroying the Capital of Byzantine Empire for the cause of their rich and powerful economy.
The crusaders traveled by land and by sea to take back the holy land from the Muslim infidels they tried to set up crusader states to claim more land but they failed. The crusades were a big part of the 11th century, as wars had came and go people were joining for money or religion. For religion people were promised to go to heaven and live a blessed holy life, and god would always protect him or her, but they were just promising things they couldn't help or control. Then when it came to the money factor of the Crusades, they were promising more than they could give, however they did deliver the minimum but after people got the money, furniture, goods and etc. people just wanted more and more, and they didn't have enough give give more and more as the people wanted. So there are many different ways ad things you could argue but I think that it was more an economical gain, because again they got want they wanted and said but they didn't care about God they were greedy and wanted more and more.
While for Christians it was important because Jesus had spent the majority of his life there. (io) These crusades showed the power of the church during medieval Europe. People went on these crusades because they believed that “God wills it.” (io) The effects that the Crusades had on Western Europe were both positive and negative.
The First Crusade (1096 - 1099) played a very important part in Medieval Europe .the First Crusade was an attempt to re-capture Jerusalem. After the capture of Jerusalem by the Muslims in 1076, any Christian who wanted to pay a pilgrimage to the city faced a very hard time. When the pope urban 2 made his speech he made lots and lots of people listen and got to war he machined that a lot of people were slaughterer and that this is what god wanted. Muslim soldiers made life very difficult for the Christians and trying to get to Jerusalem was filled with danger for a Christian.
The Crusades were a series of religious that were wars fought between Christians and Muslims over control of the Holy Land. The majority of them took place between 1095 and 1291, but that's only because their was big wars and small fight. Some of the big wars were thing that were fought over such as land or anything they could own/rule. The Holy Land was and still is a place that is very important for the two major monotheistic - Judaism and Christianity. Adding on wars are not a good thing, that's why I think the Crusades were negative.
The Crusades was a conflict between the two most popular Religions, the Muslims and Christians. There was a total of nine wars and begun during the 11th and ended in the 13th century. A question asked after centuries the Crusades have occurred is were the results a beneficial or a negative one.The aftermath of the Crusades is an obvious negative point in history. The Crusades gave many reasons on why it was failure than a success as many were killed for terrible reasons and created a bigger division and intolerance for each other's beliefs.
These people in Europe then advanced very quickly due to the mix of ideas and cultures that had different approaches to certain things. Other effects of these Crusades were tax systems, currency switches, and invention of paper. Today we still use some of these ancient inventions like geometry and astrology. Without those ideas mixing, society wouldn’t be as advanced or as intellectual
Throughout the entirety of the Crusades, there were a multitude of goals that each combatant from the Christian, Muslim, and Judaism were trying to achieve. There is a lurking question, and that is: were the Crusades a success for anyone? Some historians will lecture that the Crusades were an overall success, some believe that they were only partially successful in conveying they’re overall message. The Crusades were a failure in their goal of conquering the Holy Land for Christians. They cost a lot to the European nobility and resulted in thousands of deaths. Nevertheless, these expeditions influenced great transformations in the medieval world. They have weakened feudal aristocracy, strengthened royal power, and made possible the expansion of the market. Eastern civilization contributed much to European cultural enrichment, promoting intellectual development. Never again was Jerusalem dominated by Christians, but the movements on the way to the Holy Land expanded relationships with the known world at the time.
The Crusades were great military missions developed by Christian nations of Europe for the purpose of rescuing the Holy Land of Jerusalem from the hands of the Moslems. Jerusalem was extremely important to the Moslems and Christians at this time. Many religious events happened there, and many landmarks of both religions were located in Jerusalem. There were many Crusades some more significant than others, but in general the Crusades were very important to the spread of Christianity and religious based knowledge. The Crusades are an example of religious rebellion that is timeless and universal throughout the world.
Many people consider the Crusades as wars of bloodlust, greed, and power. War can be described as an escalated conflict, most commonly over money or other resources. The outcome of war is usually the advancement of one society due to its newly acquired resources or knowledge. If one were to look at the Crusades, and their original purpose, which was to assist Constantinople and free the Holy Land from Muslim control, then one may make the conclusion that the Crusades failed. Although the Christians did not win over the Holy Land, Europe as a whole benefited greatly from the revival of East to West trade, and new inventions and innovations that arose during the time of the Crusades.
