There is a big difference between high school and college from having bells to a no dress policy. For high school students, they are obligated to go, and if they don’t attend then the government comes into play. As for college, it 's a choice to go back to school. Students in college have variety of classes to choose from and freedom,etc. This could be freedom from parents or just doing whatever you want without parents barking at you, because you are now an adult. Even though I have been in college for only a semester, I would say that I enjoy college more than high school due to personal reason,and to pros and cons, of the different schools.

As a college freshman, I have a fear not being prepared for the level of classes, realizing that everyone is smart and pretty much on the same level. The pressure to maintain good grades is at times overwhelming but it helps to incorporate good organization and time management skills. Luckily my first semester schedule was one that worked and gave me an opportunity to adjust to college life. We've got lot of contrast between these two. First, high school always started around 6 AM or 7.30 AM, this is so different with college that mainly started at 8 AM. Second, the schedule isn't changeable, in contrast with college’s study schedule. Everything depends on the lecturer.      Balancing your lifestyle while in college is very difficult because if you have a lot on your plate like children or other important responsibilities it’s hard to balance them all and attend college. I think this has a lot to do with time management because when making a schedule you have to put your family or other responsibilities in that schedule and make time for everything. Some people work full time and go to school full time and if you have a lot of things to deal with you will burn out from the stress that such a pace imposes on your mind and body. If you work less and eliminate some things than you will have more time while in college.

Even though high school and college have the same purpose, each has a very different way of handling students and their policies. High school is a lot more strict with their rules including dress codes and schedules. However, college professors and deans treat their students more as adults, and expect them to do what they are supposed and act how they are supposed to. Education after high school is a responsibility, not an obligation. You are no longer forced to become educated, but much rather choose to be.

As we go on in life we face many challenges and new situations that we deal with. A new situation that most people deal with is college and all the changes that come along with it. What many people don't realize is that high school, in many ways, is similar and differrent from college. Not only are people changing but the surroundings and work change as well. There are some things that seem to never change such as some work and people.

College can be hard because meeting new people. Being used to the same classmates since kindergarten and going out meeting a whole new group can be difficult. It can be difficult because use to having the same friends. Doing the time meeting new people the student has to still maintain a good grades in school. The student will have to learn how to socialize and work hard at the same time. Not only meeting new peers, but new teachers as well. Being used to having teachers and now having professors who is stricter can be hard. Trying to balance out meeting new people and harder work can be a lot of hard work.

Classes are the second main reason high school differs from college. Classes in high school generally consist of no more that 25 students. Counselors usually arrange your schedule the way they think is best for you. You are not responsible for knowing what it takes to graduate. Usually the school year is 26 weeks long; classes may have to be taken the whole year in order to get credit for them. You are graded on most assignments done in class. In college some classes may have from 75-100 students. It is your responsibility to enroll in the classes that are required for your major, plus a week for final exams. The year is divided into two 14 week semesters; most classes need to be taken the complete semester in order to get credit. College professors tend to grade students on tests and major papers.

Graduating from high school is what every student is looking forward to. However, going to college is a big accomplishment for all students. The first day of freshman high school and college feels the same, the excitement and pressured. As many students experienced, both high school and college could be compared their similarities. First, both students in college and high school are expected to behave in well mannered, attend to every class on time, and respect the teachers or professors. Second, being prepared in class is needed for the success whether the students are in high school or college. Third, high school and college allow the students to figure out and pursue their career. In contrary, high school and college have a lot of differences to each other. Unlike high school, students in college can choose a college they would prefer, they can manage their own time, and students be able to learn how to balance their responsibilities and priorities.

In college, students have to be on top of everything they do because if not it can go down the drain. College is way different than high school because nobody keeps up with your grades. It is very hard to keep up with your grades in college if you do not know what is going on. In college, everyone wants to be there but nobody wants to do any work. Most people would think they will come to college in get by with anything.

The most common thing I heard about college before I got here was that college students are always under a tremendous amount of stress and have no free time to do anything other than school work. I was afraid that I would be so overloaded with school work that I would be miserable and lose the motivation to do any of it. In high school I always waited until the last minute to do any of my assignments and that led to me struggling to keep A’s and B’s. This also led to me stressing out over assignments that I had plenty of time to do. It was a simple problem that I could have solved just by using proper time management.

Some may think that high school and college reading and writing are similar and that it’s just the next level up but it 's not, they differentiate in many ways. College reading and writing is more than that, it’s a completely different world when compared to high school. It’s much more advanced and complexed. Some ideas that can be compared are the way we annotate, understand text, assignment topics, the depth of research, and so on. This is important to understanding how much more you can get out of college vs. just getting a high school reading and writing education.

There are a vast majority of problems that students may encounter when transitioning from high school to college. For starters, college is extremely fast paced. Because students do not attend the same class every day, professors will expect you to be able to work at a much faster pace in order learn all the topics that need to be taught for the class.
